The Caribbean Disaster and Management Agency compiled a very detailed document on the recovery plan and effort. I am happy to see Haiti was included as it's often left out of the news.

Gosh, it's been a busy season for the Hurricanes headed to Bermuda. My prayers go out to the people of Jamaica. I know we will be sending down supplies to help ASAP. Currently, it's overcast and super humid all day. It's relatively quiet out, only the odd bird making noise vs the usual cacophony of tree frogs, crickets and birds in the evening. The island is closed to business tomorrow till we get the all clear. School will be closed until Monday. I will be glad when this season finally closes. Packing up plants in pots and making sure the yard is free of things that can blow is a full-time job all by itself. It's not yet dark. If the night stays quiet, we will get some winds. We’re all reeling as we watch the forecast models unfold. Memories of devastating storms like Gilbert, Luis, and Irma come flooding back, and I can only imagine the trauma so many will experience as this storm approaches.
I saw footage of Kingston zoo officials working tirelessly to secure over 1,500 animals, and I hope livestock and pet owners remember to untie and untether their animals so they have a chance to find safe shelter. A friend on Barbuda once shared how the island’s donkeys survived by seeking refuge on their own, a reminder of nature’s instinct to endure.
Now, all we can do is wait, hope, and pray that this storm passes quickly and spares lives and homes

Good Day All
This is a delayed post from my weather news on Friday. My partner and I splurged on a little getaway moving from St. Georges to Southhamptom.
We woke to chilly temps, around 65 and a brisk NW wind. Rain pelted Southampton Parish for a time. The seas were much calmer compared to previous days. I captured a lovely rainbow and a few other beautiful images from a short stay at The Reefs.

Good Night from St. Georges Bermuda, Yesterday brought noticeably stronger winds but today, less wind yet increased precipitation. Rainfall amounts were insufficient to cause flooding. In fact, only minimal puddling was observed around town. Temperatures remained in the mid to upper 70s, accompanied by elevated humidity levels. Below are some images captured today.

Carnival Cruise just left port heading into a strong 30+ NE wind. Gusts are surely higher. The sun keeps peeking out. I had a swim and am settled back into some work. Thanks for the island updates, I so miss the Eastern Caribbean!! See you in March!

Good Morning All! I hope Jerry moves on soon and leaves your cisterns full.
After some glorious days here in Bermuda, the weather has shifted the winds have picked up, the humidity is high, and spotty rain is falling over St. George’s.
Wishing everyone safe passage as Jerry passes by. It looks like Bermuda will escape without any serious damage.

Well, the rains are now heavy and constant. The wind is not too bad where I am located. Oddly enough, the tree frog chorus is in full effect. Makes me wonder how close the storm is coming, cos they are usually super quiet when things are going to get bad. Maybe they are confused, like all the rules for hurricanes this season. My front door is still open a cool breeze is coming in. Hopefully, other parts of the island are not too bad as well. Good night for now Marion |

Good afternoon Gert Everyone should be ready. The roads are to be clear now. Pars of the island are getting lots of wind, others not so. I am blessed currently to be in the lee—a bit of a valley. I am hopeful things don't get too windy. I went for a drive along the eastern end south shore and took a few shots. With the sun shining the water color was stunning. The worst of the storm is expected at 4 am.. I so dislike night storms.. you cant see what is making the noises. Praying all goes well. I will update as I am able once it passes. Marion

So it's been a busy day. While we are used to hurricanes and sometimes two in one week, however, two in 36 hours is a new one. The day started with some light showers from Humberto off and on.. not too heavy and light winds. We have had more consistent showers and a few claps of thunder for the last 90 minutes. It looks like twilight outside. School will be closed tomorrow and Thursday, and most offices will be closed as of 1 pm tomorrow due to Imelda, who will give us the strongest winds and rains. Right now, I can still hear the crickets and treefrogs enjoying the rainy weather. Once they go silent, we know winds are coming. The grocery stores have been busy. I had to get a few things, and the place was full. My avocado tree is full finally, after two years of a very small crop.. I am hoping the crazy glue will hold, LOL in the winds. Perhaps I will be in the lee and things will be ok. I took a short drive out this morning during a short sunny break .. the water is gorgeous, and waves are not too bad yet.

Dear Gert,
Hurricane Gabrielle has made no impact inland on Bermuda. Wind has been 8 to 12
miles per hours gusting to 20mph since10:30 am when the wind was out of the NE.
Now, at 4:00 pm, with the centre of the Hurricane located 275km SE of Bermuda,
the wind has backed to NNE without change in speed. The sky this morning had a
hazy overcast (altostratus): now the sky has cleared in the West and overhead.
The hazy overcast (outflow from Gabrielle) persists in the eastern third of the
sky.
There has been no rain. I cannot report on the sea state as we are inland on
the south side of Hamilton Harbour.
We made no preparations for a storm and none were required!

Hello friends of Storm Carib Once again Bermuda has been blessed. The closest point of approach has passed us. There was a shower early this am before dawn. Currently, the skies are a little cloudy and there is a very light breeze but nothing to be concerned about. I have not left home today yet to look at the sea. I might go a little later. Please take care and keep praying this season is uneventful for all of us.

To your response that the hurricane should be visible on the BWS webpage radar:
No, there is nothing on the radar yet. There may be cirrus clouds overhead
from the outflow, but it is too dark to see.

Dear Get,
Thank you for your email.
Our house is on the Warwick side of Cobbs Hill Road North at Latitude 32.278N,
Longitude 64.793 W.
At 2100hours ADT Hurricane Erin was located 426 nautical miles due West of
Bermuda.
Conditions at our house were:
Wind SSW 10-15 miles per hour Gusts 24 mph
No rain
Temperature 83F
Barometer 29.91 inches steady
No sign of the hurricane on the Bermuda Weather Services radar out to 500km
In preparation for the Hurricane season, I have been running the auxiliary
electrical generator at regular intervals during the year.
In preparation for Erin, last week I: made sure the generator battery was at
full charge; the generator fuel tank was filled to capacity; and that there is
a reserve of 20 gallons of fuel for the generator
We have not made any further preparations at this time. In the morning we will
bring in potted plants and put outdoor furniture inside.

Good Morning Weather Watchers I often find myself reflecting on the storms that have struck the islands over the years. My Caribbean life started in the late 80s and I hold memories of Harvey, Gilbert, Maria, to name a few. Just last night, I was speaking with someone involved in disaster relief, and our conversation turned to Hurricane Irma the massive Category 5 storm that devastated Barbuda. The people there endured not only the immediate destruction of a natural disaster but also a host of other far-reaching consequences, too numerous to cover fully in a weather forum. Last year, we witnessed another extraordinary event, an unprecedented early-season storm that destroyed islands in the Grenadines, including PSM and Carriacou. These disasters remind us of the fragility of island infrastructure and the profound impact storms have on the people of the Caribbean.

We are enjoying bright sunshine this morning after a few days of rain. Everyone is thrilled to have their cisterns full again. The jasmine bush outside my door is in bloom! We encountered a few beaches with sargassum this week. One was at a hotel that did a great job cleaning and some at a public beach. There is not stench nor sea life trapped in the weed. Other beaches including John Smith and St. Catherine's were free of any sargassum.

We encountered significant rain in Southampton Parish and then it cleared. We got on our scooters, heading east, right into heavy downpours. The landscape needed the rain but the street flooding made for a very unpleasant experience on the scooter. Winds are light. Not much else to report. Significant sargassum on the south shore but nothing like the islands in the Caribbean or Mexico.

Good Morning from Steamy Bermuda
We had a little drizzle last night, enough to wet my laundry but St. Georges could use some rain. My friend is in the queue for a water delivery. The gardens are parched. I had a lovely swim at St. Catherine's Beach. The water is incredibly warm compared to my last swim in April. The water was clear and clean, no sargassum.
