- Nov. 30 - Time to say Goodbye! |
I want to thank all who have faithfully kept up with Storm Carib and my posts. I wish you and your loved ones a healthy, happy rest of 2022, a Merry Christmas or any other celebration that is special to you, and a very Happy New Year. If all goes well I will check in from time to time from day 1 of the ‘23 hurricane season with whatever information is of concern. If there’s nothing I will not be posting. Whenever I wrote “ Greetings from your weather lady” the recipient knew what I meant. Be well, be happy, and May God bless us all. - Nov. 29 - The Night Before Last |
The six months of hurricane season are almost up. I must say I enjoy sending in the updates, but if I’m “still kicking” next season, it will be on a limited basis. I’ve also been working on a Christmas book for several months. I’m hoping to get it out soon. We have been very blessed that we cdid not have to experience another hurricane this season. My heart goes out to those who are still picking up the pieces or drying out from much flooding. May God bless us all. Isabel Today’s weather and sunset |

I was so busy that I couldn’t take any daytime photos. Our weather has been amazing, but looks like rain is coming with a cold front this week. May God bless us all. Isabel End of beautiful day photos: |

- Nov. 26 - A Gentle Departure |
Everyone should be breathing easier now with no signs of cyclone threats anywhere. Nevertheless, we know from past experience that nasty no name storms do pop up after the hurricane season causing major flooding and destruction. So, we should always keep emergency supplies on hand, replenishing them from time to time. Be happy, stay safe, and May God bless us all. Isabel Today’s weather End of day photos: |
- Nov. 25 - Only Five Days ! |
Soon the official hurricane Season will end. It’s been terrible for some folks. They will never forget. Will the number of dead from IAN’s wrath ever be known? One thing for sure, we’re never going to see that name again. Let’s hope a December hurricane will not appear. There has been some talk about it. May God bless us all. Isabel At noon today. End of day photos. |
- Thanksgiving Day 2022 |
Great weather! Hope you also enjoyed your day and weather. The folks to our south keep getting flooding rains. We can expect brief passing showers each day/night. I hope that Jump Up downtown tomorrow evening will be dry. Many people tend to turn out for that event. Music, food, and stores remain open late for Christmas shoppers. Visitors will surely enjoy it. Have a good night. May God bless us all. Isabel A beautiful day was enjoyed by all. |
- Nov. 23 - Thanksgiving Eve |
I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving Day with your families and friends. Now with so many ways we can chat with them face to face the distance has shortened considerably. Most Sundays and on other special days we get together through Portal which has a wide picture as opposed to the small cell phone screen. It’s great! Enjoy your day and if possible make someone’s day brighter. Sometimes it only takes a smile. May God bless us all. Isabel, This early morning’s face: End of day photos: |

- Nov. 20 - Rain Expected |
Light rain fell earlier and more is in the air. Looks like a wet Thanksgiving Day so far. Hopefully that changes. My heart goes out to all the folks in Buffalo and surrounding area. We were buried under a “ton” of snow in the mountain in Chile once and they had to dig a tunnel from the entrance of the ski lodge to the exterior, then the car had to be dug out. You can read all about it in my book Donkey Years Ago chapter Transfer to Chile. So, I can’t help feeling sorry for them. I foresee a very rough upcoming Winter. May God bless us all. Isabel , End of another beautiful day. |
- Nov. 19 - Breezy Conditions |
We are enjoying breezy conditions, which get cooler as the mainland gets colder. These breezes as known as Christmas breezes. Fortunately, it is not going to be as rainy as had been predicted. I think the strong winds aloft blowing from west to east is keeping the rain back or eliminating it altogether. This would make for a more pleasant Thanksgiving week for everyone. However, Central America continues to see lots of rain with the potential for the formation of a cyclone. For their sake I hope that will not be the case. May God bless us all. Isabel, Another beautiful day! End of day photos: |
- Nov. 18 - Rain in the forecast…. |
As a matter of fact, a rainy week is coming up according to the weather people. Many will be out and about shopping for the Thanksgiving dinner. Feeding the homeless and the lonely will be a priority. We’ll have to walk between the drops. Be safe and remember that we are still in hurricane mode, and there is still that possibility. May God bless us all. Isabel, End of another beautiful day: |
- Nov. 17 - The End is Near ! |
That sounds ominous, but we’re only talking about the end of the hurricane season! Have no fear! If anything what folks in the mainland should fear Is the Artic cyclonic bomb that should be affecting most of the mainland next week. We could be having rain most of the week. May God bless us all. - Nov. 15 - LENNY 23 Years Ago! |
I will always remember LENNY for two reasons. 1. I experienced that Cat 4 hurricane all by myself. Read all about it and hurricane HUGO, and MARIA in my book Donkey Years Ago; 2. My one and only grandson was born on this day while LENNY was at my door. / I keep hearing about the probability of one or two cyclones more, before the end of the season, or even into December. I definitely hope that will not be the case.. I see a lot of rain in the forecast for Thanksgiving Week and that would be sad because so many visitors come and family reunions take place. Let’s pray for a dry week ahead. May God bless us all. Isabel Early morning Early afternoon End of day photos: |
- Nov. 14 - Very Nice Day…. |
Stormy overnight tonight according to the Weather Channel. The hurricane season is gradually coming to an end, however, the storms don’t follow a schedule, they form as they will, so we should be prepared for whatever cones. Be safe, be happy! May God bless us all. Isabel, End of day photo:) |
- Nov. 13 - Another Beautiful Day |
Hope you all enjoyed it. I am “under the weather” right now, so I could not capture the beauty of the day. However, I would like to share with you a photo of the S/V Denis Sullivan Schooner which is sailing into it’s Winter home of St. Croix, in place of the RoseWay which is going to dry dock for a couple of years for a “medical checkup and treatment”. The RoseWay Schooner has been coming to St. Croix for several years. We are getting ready to welcome the S/V Denis Sullivan Schooner in mid-December. Unfortunately, it will miss the Christmas Boat Parade in Christiansted harbor on Dec.9. Be well, be happy, and may God bless us all. Isabel The S/V Denis Sullivan Schooner You can learn more about this ship on the internet. AND, you can go sailing on this beautiful schooner if you come to St. Croix after the middle of Dec. T

A tropical wave nearing our islands is forecast to bring some additional showers. We, otherwise, have good weather in between showers. May God bless us all. Isabel, End of day photos: |
- Nov. 11 - Watching some tropical waves |
One is far south, so no worries there. The second one could affect us in one way or another eventually. We had rain showers on and off today. The Weather Channel has a higher chance of rain for the next few days. The ground is very saturated; we do not not need more rain, hopeful it will be light. May God bless us all. Isabel Looks very busy at the pier. End of day photos: |
- Nov. 10 - Another tropical wave..? |
Within all the information coming out of Florida about the destruction caused by Hurricane Nicole, i’m getting confusing information about a tropical wave heading to our vicinity. Maybe tomorrow it will be clearer. But what a horrible disaster in Florida! May God bless them and us all . Isabel A beautiful day in St. Croix End of day photos: |
- Nov. 9 - NICOLE 8th Hurricane! |
Florida is beginning to feel the approach of NICOLE. There’s flooding up and down the coast. In some parts the storm surge will be 25 ft ! I spoke to a friend in Miami earlier and they were preparing. on our side the east Caribbean should be expecting a tropical wave in a few days. It seems that the hurricanes plan to continue after the 30th, so said a weatherman last night. May God bless the Floridians and us all. Isabel End of day photos: |
- Nov. - Day of the Blood Moon |
Tonight the moon was surrounded by little puffy dark clouds. TWC changed the forecast to rain beginning at 3 a.m. those little cloud puffs usually announce rain. We shall see, or not, depends on sleep. After a deluge the night before, today was very sunny. And as the moon started to become eclipsed a cloud came along and hid it from view. Maybe some of you saw it. Floridians, be prepared, be safe! May God bless you and us all. Isabel The moon this morning just before the eclipse and cloud cover. Evening clouds to the north. End of day photo: Tonight: the moon surrounded by little dark, puffy clouds. |
- Nov.7 -Sub-Tropical Storm NICOLE ! |
That system which passed through us over the weekend has strengthened and is looking to arrive in Florida as a hurricane. We are still getting rain from it and some additional rain is moving up from the south. I doubt we will see the eclipse of the moon tomorrow morning. This is the busiest November ever. May God bless us all. Isabel Today’s weather: End of day photos: |
- Nov. 6 - Very Unstable Weather |
We had lots of sun on this Sunday, but the tropical energy has not yet exited the area and according to The Weather Channel there are thunderstorms in the forecast beginning at midnight through tomorrow. This system apparently is the culprit that is being monitored for possible cyclonic development which will be targeting Florida this time from the east side. The weatherman, Fede Felix from the DR showed a lot of waves, some of them fiery looking coming from Africa. A very busy November indeed! May God bless us all. Isabel Early this morning End of day photos: |
- Nov. 5 - Flash Flood Advisories! |
We must have accumulated quite a few inches already! It’s been rising most of the day with just a few short pauses. There’s a lot of flooding out there. We decided to play the Fireplace video on YouTube to warm up psychologically. We contacted a friend in Puerto Rico who traveled for a few days to visit her mom and she said the weather there was “ a thing that is too brutally strong “ as translated from Spanish. And so it is. We can expect this to continue for at least 2 days more although others think more like mid-week. Be prepared and safe out there. May God bless us all. Isabel End of day photo: |

- Nov. 4 - Waiting For the BIG Rain! |
The sky dramatically clouded over late afternoon, the air felt very cool, there were a couple of rumbles. It got windy and s few drops fell. That was it. However, I understand that the bulk is coming from tonight and for the next three days as two systems converge and drop a lot of rain. Christiansted has been dry all day, but that was not the case in Fredriksted to the west. It was pouring there. I will report back later if conditions deteriorate. May God bless us all. Isabel Photos of the day ( late afternoon): |
- Nov. 3 - Flash Flood Watch in effect ! |
For the next 4 days, beginning tomorrow morning at 4 am with thunderstorms through the morning; we should start getting those rain bands, that, as reported, should drop up to a foot of rain in parts. It is to average 8-12” depending on the location. People tend to become skeptical after a time of hearing weather reports that do not materialize, however, anyone living in a flood prone area should get out now, or at least with the first rain band. Be safe, be prepared! Isabel Lush vegetation from all the rain we have had lately. End of day photos: |
- Nov. 2 - The Spotlight is on Us. |

If all my weather sources are correct then we’re in for a very stormy weekend. Plus the potential of this stornness leading to the formation of a cyclone. I remember when Tropical Storm JEANNE formed eight over our heads. It is possible. We shall have to see if this is all actually going to happen. May God bless us all. Isabel The Ginger Thomas bushes are blooming all over the island End of day photo: |
- Nov. 1 - Weather Woes brewing for us! |
According to Meteorologist Ruben Garcia of Puerto Rico, a big RAIN event is coming for this weekend. A large area which includes the Virgin Islands has been circled as having potential for the formation of a cyclone, at the very least a Tropical Depression. This system can bring 3 - 4 inches of flooding precipitation. Everyone is asked to be prepared especially those living in flood prone areas. The hurricane season is not over as yet. May God bless us all. Isabel Evening falls on another lovely day. End of day photos: |
- Oct. 31 - Tropical Storm LISA |
It is the 15th Storm of the Season. It is headed in the direction of Belize, but all the other countries around are on alert as the route can change. Our weather has cleared considerably, but we still have rain in the forecast. So far so good! May God bless us all. Isabel Friendlier weather today End of day photo: |
- Oct. 30 - Rainy Sun |
As predicted we got a lot of rain on and off all day. It’s quiet now but there’s more rain in the forecast for tonight and to a lesser degree tomorrow. 95 L is now officially a potential hurricane!. It seems to be heading to Belize. I hope the folks there are prepared. May God bless them and us all. Isabel The double bougaInvillea is blooming every day. |
- Oct. 29 - Expect 95L Rain |
If the timing is correct we should start getting the effects of 95L from 4 a.m. tomorrow morning. This information comes from various sources. It is very overcast tonight. The system is passing close to our south. Time will tell. May God bless us all.
Isabel Happy last Sunday of October!
- Oct. 28 - Invest 95 L in the Caribbean |
It’s going to pass fairly close to our south, so if it rains this weekend we know where it’s coming from. PR and DR expect flooding rains from this system. Eventually it will be curving down towards Central America. Wind shear and dry air might prevent it from developing into a cyclone. So hang in there. The season is almost over. May God bless us all. Isabel This photo was posted earlier today. We finally could see blue again. My favorite color. After that rainstorm went through us it remained very gray until this morning. Our kitty says it’s time to relax!

Very gray day today: This system which passed us yesterday with flooding rains still poses a threat. We are keeping an eye on it. LENNY and OMAR turned back to us. Hope that does not happen again. May God bless us all. Isabel |
- Oct. 26 - What a Stormy Day! |
It poured, drizzled, and dripped all day and it plans to do the same tomorrow. We’ve had thunderstorms and rumblings. The tiny tree frogs are having a ball. They are happiest when it rains. - Oct. 25- Flash Flood Alerts! |
We have been getting them all day, but the rain has not arrived as yet. It’s on it’s way up. The most likely scenario is towards DR and PR. Our rain chances for this hour as I write have dropped by half. The stars were shining brightly, so if anything, we’ll probably get spotty showers. The next system coming from Africa could present some problems. May God bless us all. Isabel This morning’s rainbow Flowery view to the pier. End of day photo: |
- Oct. 24 - Hurricane in the Caribbean ?? |
There is more and more concern that the right ingredients are coming together for the formation of possibly a Cat. 4 hurricane in our neck of the woods. Both the Greater and the Lesser Antilles have been alerted. If there is a hurricane it is not expected to happen until the first week of November. In the meanwhile, the atmosphere in the Caribbean is prepping for that storm. It will be preceded by lots of rain coming from the south. There is a high percentage chance for several days. Tomorrow, 25th, it’s 80%+. May God bless us all. Isabel. The beautiful Colombian Vine is in. End of Day photo: |
- Oct. 23 - Another Beautiful Day…. |

However, according to my weather sources rain should begin in earnest on Tuesday and continuing for several days. Seeing is believing in this case. I like to live one day at a time and enjoy it as much as is possible. May God bless us all. Isabel Early Sunday Morning Glory!! End of day photos: |

- Oct. 21 - Trouble Brewing to our East. |
We are expecting rain from the next tropical wave which is almost here. Sometimes wind shear does not allow it to develop; in the case of this one it is mostly a rain maker. The next one is a newly named Invest because it has the potential to become a cyclone. It must be monitored by everyone in the island chain. May God bless us all. Isabel Beginning of day photo: End of day photo: |
- Oct. 20 -.Low Pressure System Approaching! |
It’s going to be rainy for several days when it arrives. When exactly I did not hear, but there’s rain in the forecast from Sunday. This system could mean trouble elsewhere if it develops. Some 3 to 10 inches of rain will fall depending on the area. Sounds like a lot of rain to me. May God bless us all. Isabel

I heard that there could be a Tropical Storm in the Caribbean by the end of this month. Where in the Caribbean? Maybe that will become clearer with each passing day. For now, we’re having occasional showers. Everything is green and lush. However, according to the same weatherman, this weekend promises lots of rain. We shall see… May God bless us all. Isabel The weather today End of day photo: |

I usually sleep through heavy rain but not last night! We got at least another two like that during the day, otherwise it was sunny. From now on we should be getting these downpours as there is a lot of unstable weather around us. May God bless us all. Isabel Enjoying the rain! End of day photos: |

- Oct. 16 - Cold Front Approaching … |
It is coming from the mainland. But, will it reach us? At the same time there are three tropical waves coming from Africa. It looks as if we can expect rain this week from both sides. The TWs are being monitored by the NHC. So in case of any threats we shall know immediately. May God bless us all. Isabel Another beautiful day! A rainbow splashed into the sea early this morning. End of day photos: |
- Oct. 15 - Below Average Season |
That’s what I heard today from the FOX reporter. But will it stay below average? This was suppose to be a hyperactive year. Thankfully it has not turned out that way, Hurricane IAN has made this the worst season ever for those who survived it. A man who was interviewed said that he lost family and friends. One can only imagine his pain. This season seems to be over. May God bless us all. Isabel |
- Oct. 14 - All is Quiet |
Perhaps not for the rest of season, but at the moment it is quiet. We are tracking a tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic which will have to be very strong and resistant to survive any attempt to reach the Caribbean. We shall keep an eye on it. May God bless us all. Isabel Very busy at the pier End of day photo: |
- Oct. 13 - New Disturbance in the Eastern Atlantic! Atlantic |

- Oct. 12 - TS KARL to Mexico |
It is not expected to become a major hurricane. That’s great for the folks in Mexico. There are three TWs crossing the Atlantic . None of them are coming to us, but that can change.we have to keep an eye on them. May God bless us all. Isabel This morning’s rainbow End of day photo: |
- Oct. 11 -.Tropical Storm KARL !! |
The 11th storm of the season has formed on the 11th of October in the Bay of Campeche. It’s going to dump a “ton” of rain on Mexico during the next 2-3 days. At the same time there are 3 TWs crossing the Atlantic. The good news is that the environment is not conducive for the formation of storms. One of them is close to the Lesser Antilles so if it starts getting rainy we know where it is coming from. Be always safe and prepared! May God bless us all. Isabel Nice showers today
End of day photo: |
- Oct. 10 - The Next Name Storm….? |

There is a ? mark on the TW I mentioned yesterday. It’s on its way across the Atlantic. Hopefully it will just be a TW, we can deal with that. May God bless us all. Isabel End of day photos… The moon tonight surrounded by a lacy-lookin cloud. |
- Oct. 9 - Out of Africa- another TW ! |
That may be a tame one through the MDR, where storms form easily mid season but when it gets to the Caribbean, it can develop if the conditions are right, especially the warm sea. In the meanwhile, this evening we were surprised by thunderstorms! We can deal with that compared to what they are undergoing in all the countries south of us. The tremendous flooding is being captured on videos. And there is no end to the horror of what happened in Florida. May God bless the survivors and us all. Isabel Early morning face, but we did get a fair amount of sunshine! End of day photo: |
- Oct. 8 - Cat. 1 Hurricane JULIA f! |
It is battering the Central American coastlines with an EyE on Nicaragua. Everyone in the surrounding is feeling it in one way for another. The good news for us is that there nothing imminent threatening at the moment. We just have to keep in mind that the season is still open for business. Be safe! Be prepared! Isabel Early morning End of day photos: |
- Oct. 7 - Tropical Storm Julia ! |

It has been a slow mover and the trail behind it has been of massive floods wherever it touched, loss of personal property, and perhaps more than one life. A woman was washed away in the early stages when it was just a tropical wave. I hope the folks at landfall are prepared. Again, it’s the water that should be feared. We still have a way to go and some future waves can still be determined to get a name from the list. Be safe, be prepared! Isabel A very interesting rain cloud today. End of day photo: |
- Oct. 6 - PTC 13 headed to Central |
It is scraping along several coasts to our south leaving a trail of torrential rain and floods everywhere. This misery should continue for days after it has passed. I remember when hurricane FLOYD passed us close to our north it kept raining for a whole week. We still have almost two good months of hurricane season, so remain safe and prepared ! May God bless us all. Isabel End of another beautiful day. |
- Oct. 5 - Apocalyptic Scenes Everywhere ! |
The first thing I saw on YouTube this evening was a repeat scene of floods in Trinidad &Tobago caused by another loaded system ripe and ready to become a hurricane. These scenes were prevalent in Florida and South Carolina. 91L is now a Depression, a slow moving rainmaker like IAN. It has already dumped massive amounts of rain in a short period of time causing immense flooding. My heart goes out to all the people suffering from these effects. May God bless them and us all. Isabel An idyllic entrance to the lower garden and grotto: End of day photo: |
- Oct. 4 - Another Hurricane Brewing…? |
It seems more and more like it. 91L was originally going to scrape by to our south; then it suddenly dropped to the south scraping by the South American countries as it aims for Central America. The “cone of uncertainty” curves down at that point. It has a high chance of forming into a cyclone while in the Caribbean. Today we got some heavy rain showers but I have no clue where from. 92L will be too far from us when it passes way below us, unless it moves up which is also a possibility. That’s why the Invests should always be monitored. May God bless us all. Isabel A Showery kind of Day From our front door to beyond End of day photo: |
- Oct. 3 - 91 L No Threat for Us |
We can breathe easy, or can we? Hurricane IAN was unpredictable. I think the weather people must have been going crazy. The last change in it’s path probably saved hundreds of lives in Tampa, when it made landfall much earlier devastating the whole area with a tsunami like surge. Our friends said that Naples was destroyed. Now the countries in Central America are bracing for impacts from 91 L which can become a cyclone. Then on the other hand it can climb back up to us. May God bless us all Isabel, Very lovely day End of day photo: |

So far, it looks like just rain, but there’s a chance that it can develop into a cyclone. We are all asked to monitor the system. - Oct. 1 - Watching an Approaching TW |
There is some confusion about this wave. It does not show up on the map. There’s only the one recognized by the NHC. That is expected to turn to the north away from any land. The one that the weathermen are buzzing about is in the middle of the Atlantic. It has a good chance of becoming a cyclone as early as the middle of next week as a Depression and the general agreement has it moving in our direction. We have to monitor this one carefully. May God bless us all. Isabel Early morning: End of day photo: |
- Sept. 30 - Nineteen and Counting…… |
That’s the number of known dead from the most powerful hurricane to hit Florida in fifty years. Sure, there have been others similar, but still no comparison to IAN. Most of Florida was battered by IAN except for a section of Miami on the east side where a friend of mine lives. Not a drop of rain fell there. For others this will be an unforgettable nightmare and it’s not over. IAN continues reigning havoc up the east coast a distance of 1000 miles. South Carolina was hit very hard. It’s going to be a very long recovery period. We still have two months of hurricane season to go. We were hit by thunderstorms last night and it rained torrentially for a couple of hours. Scary just looking at the size of that monster storm! Some people apparently said they were used to hurricanes and did not want to evacuate. BUT, has there ever been such a one as IAN? |
Will Hurricane IAN get the number one place for most destruction, floods, and fatalities? The reports sound horrible especially with so many tornados. St. Croix was leveled by HUGO, but it was a dry storm the rain came after. IAN is a wind and rainmaker, spawning tornados in addition. I am especially concerned about Tampa Bay which is below sea level. There’s nothing to keep the storm surge from flooding well inland. I have a lot of people there and no word as to whether they evacuated the area. I hope and pray that everyone will survive this. May God bless them and us all. This potential Cat 3 is determined to get to Florida. The storm surge is most likely to take the sea way inland because the waves are high and powerful, and the land is low. There was a documentary about this possible scenario several years ago. The hurricane will be crawling through Florida so that both sea and rain will create a massive situation. I hope and pray that all of my folks and friends will be in a safe place. May God bless them and us all. Isabel Flowers courtesy of the RAIN brought by tropical storm Fiona last weekend. It will arrive the middle of next week as a major hurricane according to the National Hurricane Center, that is, a Cat 3 and above. Residents living along the coast should prepare to evacuate ahead of the storm and the devastating surge it will cause. I hope everyone is paying attention and will heed the authorities. May God bless them and us all. Isabel Tranquility End of day photo: |

Keeping an eye on the next storm in the Caribbean. It looks like a major hurricane is in the works. It should have its name by this hour. May God bless us all. Isabel End of day photos: |
- Sept. 21 - Watch the Next One!! |
We are now focused on 98L which will be the H storm, unless another one gets ahead of it. Tonight I heard it had moved up to latitude 12, we are on 17, but the fact the it moved up is alarming. If this trend continues it will be too close for comfort. It is forecast to become a Cat 4 hurricane before it gets to the GOM. It’s only now approaching the Windward islands. Be safe everyone, be prepared! May God bless us all. Isabel Calm and Serene End of day photo: |

- Sept. 19 - Hurricane FIONA’s Amazing Clouds! |
All day long we’ve been having a display of storm clouds as a result of the backlash. Some of them were rumbling. More like grumbling. So our dog growled back. The next wave is going to pass to mage south and is forecast to head to the western Caribbean. We have to keep an eye on this one. Isabel |

- Sept. 18 - It’s QUIET…. |
After the last heavy rain late this afternoon, it has been quiet; nevertheless, there high percentages of rain in the forecast. Our hearts go out to those who are suffering the ravages of Hurricane FIONA. May God bless us all. Isabel, Taken from the gazebo in the lower garden when my husband was caught by the last heavy downpour of the day. |
- Sept. 17 - It’s NOT Over! |
We had a short QUIET pause, followed by heavy rain. We expect this to continue through tomorrow with the high chance of rain in the forecast. The folks in flood prone areas have to be especially careful. We live on a hill and when we drove to church we avoided low lying areas during the short ride. May God bless us all. Isabel RAIN ! |
- Sept. 18 - It’s Finally QUIET! |
BUT, is it over..? We shall see. However, “all schools in the USVI are closed on Monday 19th” was the word issued by the government a few minutes ago. Will check back later. FIONA did not keep us from going to church this morning. May God bless us all. Isabel |

- Sept. 17 - A Drippy/Windy day so far .. |
BUT the worst is still to come! I heard from Brian Shields, the Weatherman, that Guadeloupe got 17” of rain, 1 death reported, roads washed away but even though this is not a Hurricane MARIA it does have RAIN which in some cases can drop 20” if caught in one of those heavy rain bands. As I write the rain is becoming more consistent. Will report back later if we have internet. May God bless us all. Isabel |
- Sept. 16 - Tropical Storm FIONA Approaching.. |
The storm is fluctuating from weakness to strength. She threatens to become a hurricane I’ve with all; the question is when will that happen? We have been getting windier conditions and sporadic showers, nothing intense as yet. We were advised to stay indoors beginning tomorrow noon as that is when FIONA will arrive with all her fury. I plan to go out early and get back as soon as possible. May God bless us all. Isabel, Face of the day: |
- Sept. 15 - Tropical Storm Watch in Effect |
So far it has only rained in fits and starts, however, when it becomes consistent it will be serious. We can expect a major rain event ! I guess that means RAIN as we have never seen before. FIONA has fought the dust all the way from Africa and now she is also fighting strong “cutting winds”. She has to push against the wind and is being slowed down; that will mean intense, heavy rain for 24 to 48 hours as she tracks her way to through the islands to PR and beyond. That’s why the weatherman in PR is very concerned over what will be “extreme flooding conditions”. I pray that all who are in the path of FIONA will take all the precautions necessary to be safe. May God bless us all. Isabel, |

- Sept. 14 - Tropical Storm FIONA !! |
Be ready St. Croix! She’s swinging by some 42+miles distant before noon on Saturday 17th.That info is according to the CPA-closest point of approach . The distance can vary as well as the timing. We can expect very stormy conditions with winds 45-50mph. Torrential rain will be an impact; water can be more dangerous than wind.We can count on outages, hopefully not long ones. Be safe! Be prepared! May God bless us all. Isabel, A very active pier. This beauty is for TS FIONA. End of day photo: |
- Sept. 13 - Invest 96L impacts this weekend |
This disturbance which was classified this evening as Invest 96L is heading here possibly arriving as a Depression, a tropical storm, or a hurricane on the 5th anniversary of Hurricane MARIA. Impacts should begin on Friday through the weekend. Many people are unaware of this from what I have gathered. I try to encourage them to monitor the progress of the system. Be safe! Be prepared! May God bless us all. Isabel A beautiful Tuesday evening. End of day photo: |
- Sept. 12 - A Strong Tropical Wave Heading this Way! |
It’s moving very slowly, but will be here by Friday or Saturday if it is held back. It is large and disorganized. Thanks to the dust around it the TW cannot develop into a cyclone. However, it will bring “bad”weather with “good” rain to the islands. It’s quite possible that it will acquire a name while in our neck of the woods. That was quite a lengthy drought that we had this year, so I appreciate the wet weather for a change. Be safe! Be prepared! May God bless us all. - Sept. 11 - A Day to Remember |
The greatest tragedy of this day in 2001, left many babies without one or both of their parents lost along with thousands of others. They are all 21 years of age like our granddaughter who was born in Spain in March of that year and grew up in St. Croix. A real joy. The hurricane season of that year produced 17 cyclones. 15 name storms, 9 hurricanes, 4 of those major. According to Google.; The worst one was Hurricane Michelle. Damage total $11.94 billion dollars, no comparison to the loss of life and countless grieving families. This year the season has been milder than predicted but that can change. At the moment the most reliable models are in agreement that we could have a Depression or Tropical Storm affecting the Lesser Antilles by the upcoming weekend. The second TW should be passing us to the north. Travelers to this region should check before traveling. May God bless us all. Isabel, do Many avocados this year End of day photo: |
- Sept. 10 - The Peak of the Hurricane Season |
With all the tropical waves coming off the coast of Africa it looks like the beginning not the peak. This could be the year that we go all the way into December! I must say we’ve had a beautiful season so far, including all the rain we received from EARL before it became a name storm. Everything is so green! What is next? Remember to track the waves as they emerge from Africa. May God bless us all. Isabel, Our new bright green decor. End of day photo: the sunset reflecting on the clouds. - Sept. 9 - Tracking Two Tropical Waves |
We really have to keep an eye on these two systems, especially the second one. I suggest that if anyone is planning to travel to the Caribbean to make sure that it will be safe to come. Let it not be like the couple who arrived on a Saturday in Sept. five years ago, and had to return home on Monday because Hurricane Maria was arriving on Tuesday. Be safe, be prepared. May God bless us all. Isabel, Very early morning photo: Middle of day photo view from the porch End of day photo: |
- Sept. 8 - Absolutely Beautiful Day ! |
I had an extremely busy day so could not stop long enough to capture some of that beauty, however, got some great photos of the evening sky. I’m watching a wave that just moved off of the coast of Africa. It’s moving west or west northwest which means it could be something to deal with next week if it does not fizzle before. In the meanwhile, let’s enjoy what we have while we can. A big hello to my newest fan from Canada! May God bless us all. Isabel, End of day photos: Cloud sculpture Fire in the sky..? |
- Sept. 7 - Stormy days continue…. |
With sunny moments and beautiful sunsets. There is rain in the forecast for the rest of the week. The next wave is looking to move a bit higher than EARL. But the one after is lower and that can present a problem for us. May God bless us all. Isabel, Very early this morning Stormy looking face all morning End of day photos: |
- Sept. 6 - |
I think everyone was caught by surprise by that thunderstorm last night. I was and I’m usually trying to stay informed. It was great! Hadn’t had one of those for a long time. There were heavy showers on and off today. The rumblings of thunder continued also and our big dog growled back. He cannot stand them. We are now tracking two systems from Africa. One looks harmless, the second is more worrisome, but too soon to tell. May God bless us all. Isabel, This beautiful little pink cloud, to the west, greeted me first thing this morning. What a lovely sight! More rain! End of day photo:

- Sept. 5 - Great Rain from T.S EARL |
The sky was dramatic all day with rumblings on and off and finally it was after dark when it broke. It was windy with heavy rain. A squall!! The ground needed a good soaking and I’m sure it did. EARL will be pulling away from the Caribbean but we may still have some good rain percentages over the next days. It is raining as I write. Sounds great on the roof! May God bless us all. Isabel, Photos of the gray day: |
- Sept. 4. - T.S. EARL SWEEPS BY….. |
We got some heavy downpours during the morning and gusty winds throughout the day. I heard that a good part of the island to our west had a lot of down trees which fell on cables and caused power outages to many. It could have been worse. May God bless us all. Isabel, We were not hit as hard as the Northern Leewards and Puerto Rico. End of day photo: |
- Sept. 3 - Tropical Storm EARL |
It formed last night as it plods along to the west northwest passing by the islands without any impacts. However, we should get some rain. I’ve been praying for Japan who are being hit by a mega hurricane. 100,000 People were evacuated!! May God bless them and us all. Isabel, Today’s weather from my porch. End of day photo: |
- Sept. 2 - 91L is getting ready! |
Ready to become a cyclone! The Northern Leewards are preparing for heavy rain, or worse, over the next couple of days. We would like some of it. Hope we’re not too far south. The system looks broad enough to extend some rain this way. We shall see. May God bless us all. Isabel End of day photos: |
- Sept 1 - Beautiful Weather Continues… |
However, it has not rained in our neighborhood. It was very hot today, but my husband and I decided to be tourists and visit the Fort as we celebrated our 59th wedding anniversary. It is a fascinating place with video documentaries playing in some of the rooms.(you can Google Fort Christianvearn for more info) Please check it out if you visit St. Croix. Alexander Hamilton lived here. 91 L will be no threat to us as it passes by, so they say, yet we have been told that a weaker system would stay west rather that climb. This so far is a weak system because of the encroaching dust. There are others coming so be safe, be prepared. May God bless us all. Isabel, Our favorite beach on the cay from the fort. End of day photo: |
- Aug. 31 - Three months down….. |
AND Three to go!! Will the next three months fulfill the quota of storms for the season? I heard 18 and we’ve only had 3 name storms so far, that means we should be having 15 in three months! We probably will be hearing something from CSU soon. So far no rain either . It would be nice if we can get some from 91 L but it’s passing too far to our north. Friends in Rhinebeck, NY said today that it’s dry there too. May God bless us all. Isabel, End of day photo: |
- Aug. 30 - it is so Quiet….. |
Since 1988 we have not had such a quiet hurricane season. We are being told that the worst months are coming. We should not let our guard down. Today was another hot and dusty day, so it doesn’t look as if we are getting any tropical waves from Africa. We rely on those to water the whole island, not just a shower here and a shower there; mostly there, we haven’t had any substantial rain on our hill for a long while. Everything a drying up again. It must be a cycle. May God bless us all. Isabel Could not attach photos. |
- Aug 29 - How Close will the Storm get to us ? |
We shall find out very soon. We were asked to monitor 91L because it is passing to our North as of now but that can change: they have a mind of their own and also tend to wobble. Towards the end of the week we shall know more. May God bless us all. Isabel Another beautiful day! End of day photo: |
- Aug. 28 - Monitoring invest 91 L |
This disturbance is now being investigated for possible development into a cyclone. It has to deal with wind shear and some dust but has been given a 70% chance which is high. We have to monitor this system closely as any wobble to the left can cause direct impacts. Though it is forecast to pass close to the northern islands that can change. Be safe ! Be prepared! May God bless us all. Isabel, Sorry, I could not attach photos.
- Aug. 27 - Tropical Cyclones Brewing ! |
That was Dani’s forecasts. She usually has good updates. At the moment all the weather people out there agree that next week there will definitely be cyclone activity. One of them is forecast to move to our north near the northern Leeward Islands. Too close for comfort. My favorite weatherman Dave said that there will be plenty of activity in the weeks to come. May God bless us all. Isabel, End of day photo: |
- Aug. 26 - The Quiet before the Storms |
The weathermen are getting more and more excited about the awakening of the Atlantic which has been asleep for 8 wks now. It’s looking more and more active out there in the MDR . Hope no one gets impacted. The worst hurricane in history is on record is MARIA IN 2017 as killing more than 3000 people in Puerto Rico with others elsewhere. Will the exact number ever be known? It had winds of 175 mph sustained. Our house vibrated as the hurricane trekked alongside us as it made it’s way to PR. My cousin there thought the island would be split in two. That was five years ago. We don’t want another like it. May God bless us all. Isabel, Hidden beauties End of day photo: |
- Aug. 25 - “No name storms in 53 days.” |
I heard it from the Weather Man tonight. 1914 produced the least amount of storms. So far we only have three. 2022 could very well outdo 1914. We don’t mind at all. However, there’s a lot of moisture on the way and it can very well include a name storm or two.I just hope and pray that no one gets hit by devastating hurricane this season. May God bless bless us all. Isabel. We are having beautiful hurricane season days as you can see : End of day photo: |

There is a wave train on the way. It’s no wonder I see rain in the forecast for each day. The closest one is designated 90L. That should be here as a rainmaker for the weekend. Be safe! Be ready for anything ! May God bless us all. Isabel Flat sea.. Interesting clouds! End of day photo : |
- Aug.22/‘22 - Busy Tropical Atlantic! |

The Saharan dust is dissipating, the wind has dropped; two factors which inhibit storms from developing tropical waves into monsters. In other words: the 2022 hurricane season has finally started! May God bless us all. Isabel Very Quiet Season! End of day photo : |
- Aug. 21 - Something is Coming |
The first of three tropical waves coming off the coast of Africa should bring a lot of moisture to the islands. The second has a better chance of developing and the third has an even greater chance of developing into a cyclone. That is bad enough already, but they all s-eem to be following the same route, toward us! Don’t get caught unprepared! May God bless us all. Isabel View to the Cay!! End of day photo: Q

- Aug. 17 - Rain in our forecast |
The next few days promise us some precipitation. It has been hot and dry as I mentioned yesterday so this would be a most welcome relief. Everyone is feeling the heat. Lucky those who can get a dip in the sea though it feels warmer — hurricane fuel. My four weather apps indicate rain for the next few days. - Aug. 15 - Watching a New Suspicious Tropical Wave |
I heard it should be developing and by next week we could have something with which to contend. I just hope it passes close enough to get some good, substancial rain out of it. We’re still in drought mode. The green lawn is turning yellow. Let’s be ready for whatever comes. May God bless us all. Isabel, Three of our seven Red-footed Tortoises End of day photos: |
- Aug. 14 - Quiet Days! |
Suspense is growing. Is something going to pounce on us all is a sudden? There is a system above us that is being watched.Looks kind of suspicious. Coming off the coast of Africa is another wave that can develop and could be threatening us by next weekend. That sounds too soon. So, let us continue enjoying these days. We are getting blessed at times by passing showers. Prepare and be safe! May God bless us all. Isabel One of those showers. End of day photo: |
- Aug. 13- So far, so good! |
Wave after tropical wave is being swallowed up by Saharan dust. How long is this going to last? In 1992 there was no name Storm at all until Aug. 16 when ANDREW, a category 5 hurricane crossed the Atlantic and killed 65 people and millions of dollars in damages. It was the first storm of that year and it was powerful. We still have a long way to go to Nov. 30. Be safe! Be prepared! May God bless us all.

- Aug. 12 - Weather is Great, for now …. |
Let us not be lulled by this beautiful weather. It’s bound to change. I’m praying for rain, hope it comes this weekend. The dust has been drying it up. We certainly are grateful to go so long without a storm, but it’s not going to remain quiet. Be safe! Be prepared! May God bless us all. Isabel m, Our gazebo Our porch End of day photo: |
- Aug. 11 - “Quietist Hurricane Season” |
So said Mr. Weatherman. It hasn’t been this way in 10 to 15 yrs. And with the Saharan Air Layer he showed covering the tropical Atlantic there is no possibility of anything developing any time soon. The tropical waves cannot survive in so much dust. Bet Central America wish they had a share in the dust. They are getting flooded ever so often, and I wish we could get some of their rain. However, the hurricane season still has three and a half months to go and lots can happen in that space of time. Be safe! Be prepared! May God bless us all.

- Aug. 10 - The Waning of 97L |
Good news! What could have been a cyclone has been reduced significantly to an open wave, but most of the moisture will be to our north, so we may not get as much rain. The dust which interfered with 97L is not going to around forever. There are other tropical waves heading this way. So, be safe! Be prepared! May God bless us all. Isabel Shy, hidden orchids. - Aug. 9 - We Need a Rainmaker |
I am hoping that Invest 97L will be just that, a rainmaker. Our green is quickly disappearing. It hasn’t rained for a while now and it has been hot! Still far away, but it’s not coming near us, at least everyone seems to agree on that. There’s another one behind it which also has to be monitored, and so on. We have entered the busiest time of the season. Be safe! Be ready ! May God Bless us all. Isabel, A very breezy day End of day photo: |
- Aug. 7 - A disturbance with potential ? |
That is to be seen. Will it be able to get through ? There are a couple of a scenarios which I heard today. If it is a strong system it will stay far to our north, however, a weaker system would bring it into our neck of the woods. By the middle of this coming week we shall find out which track it will take. Be safe! Be ready! May God bless us all. Isabel, An abundance of red double-hibiscus ! A beautiful day! It does not mean that it will become anything threatening. It will have a few challenges along the way. But if it does it will have the D name. I just noticed a Low Pressure system coming off the coast of Africa. If the dust stays in place we should not have a problem, but then, we need the rain. Soon the green will fade again. My daughter returned home from her vacation with a plane load of visitors. This is the time to come. In another week or two it could be more difficult. Tomorrow there’s a 70% chance of rain, hope it does not ruin too many plans. The sargassum is becoming a nuisance and it has to be dealt with. We had all kinds of weather today and the roughest surf, very windy. It’s been so quiet since the first three storms that I wonder if the predicted number still stands . Beautiful weather today after an early morning rain blessing. Except for the rip currents it would be a 100% good day. One has to extremely careful with those. There’s talk about the D name storm. It could be forming from the vigorous tropical wave coming off the coast of Africa. Great all around especially for the Cruise Ship visitors. It sure was busy around town today. I guess folks just don’t care if we’re in the hurricane season. Looks like some rainy days ahead. One day yes and one day no, kind of scenario. We need the rain for sure. Has anyone come up with a solution to the Sargassum problem? I was seeing how it was creeping into the harbor. Something has to be done . There are many TWs heading west, that could be the reason for the rainy forecast. May God bless us all. - July 14 - Rainy Day |
Finally, some substancial rain! It’s been dry for so long that there’s music coming out of the ground, along with the weeds!! The tree frogs are especially happy. I expect a lot of singing from them tonight. There are TWs coming off the coast of Africa. One of them looks quite hefty. May God bless us all. Isabel Rain! End of day photos: |
- July 13 - Rain..! |
It rained this morning but I have no proof because I was running with the shopping cart to my car and I could not take a picture. Next downpour, I was driving. Then the sun was out and shining again. It was a very nice day. May God bless us all. Isabel Rain clouds assembling: What is that…!! End of day photo: |
- July 12 - Where’s the Weather? |
According to the radar it’s all around us, but nothing falls. However, there’s hope for the coming days. As for the Sargassum algae. Something can be done about it. How about a giant vacuum to suck it out of the water directly into dump trucks then hauled away. It will dry up and can be burned. Algae is only active in the water. How about it? Can someone invent such a machine? May God bless us all. Isabel End of day photo: |
- July 11 - Weak TW in our Area |
Every now and then we get a heavy downpour, or a brief rain shower, some drizzle, threatening clouds, occasional gusts of wind, that’s all because of the weak wave that’s passing through. In spite of the dust, we are still able to get something out of this wave. May God bless us all. Isabel Another nice day today Our prettiest Flamboyant tree End of day photo: |
- July 10 - Nice Weather Today |
It started out with a good, heavy, rainfall ! A mixed bag followed, but all in all, it turned out great. Perfect for the Mango Melee’s 50th anniversary celebration.!! May God bless us all. Isabel A good, early, heavy rainfall. A beautiful evening End of day photo: I see a puppy sitting on the sun! |
- July - 9 Dust is Creeping In |
It’s been very hazy, cloudy, very breezy, etc. kind of day. The drought is really causing havoc. The deer are forced to come down from the hills due to lack of rain and the pools of water that they count on. Yesterday while on a WhatsApp video call through the lower garden with a friend in Chile she was able to see three deer. She was delighted ! I wanted to show her the Flamboyant tree in full bloom. She had never seen one and she got to see deer as well. It was quite a birthday treat for her.! Now with more Saharan dust invading the region any hint of rain will probably dry up. I hope this drought ends soon. May God bless us all. Isabel Some flowers do not care how dry it is; when it’s time to bloom, it’s time to bloom! There’s something going on…. End of day photo : I see people! Do you? |
- July 8 - Get Ready - End of July! |
According to weatherman David Schlotthauer, watch out for renewed activity in the Atlantic by the end of the month. We still have time to get everything ready. Let’s do it! May God bless us all. Isabel The ferry returning from St.Thomas End of day photos: |
- July 6 - Hot and Humid ! |
Humidity is good for the skin, so it was not all bad and I’m sure the visitors and locals as well are having great beach time. Nothing threatening for the next 5 days or longer, so come on down if you will and see this gem for yourself. Sounds like an ad, right? Not! It’s coming from a Crucian soul. May God bless us all. Isabel Rain showers in our neck of the woods. End of day photo : |
- July 5 - A Quiet Spell |
It should last about 10 days, I heard. Then all H will break loose.! Definitely by the end of July we must be completely ready for whatever is coming. Enjoy this quiet spell while we have it. May God bless us all. Isabel, End of day photos : |
- July 4 - Enjoy the Fireworks!! |
A. Very happy 4th of July to all !! May God bless America and all its Territories and May we remain Free and Safe, and May gas prices keep going down! Here it went as high as $5.99 and suddenly one day it was $5.48..! Weather wise, nothing to be concerned about for a while, for us anyway. Unfortunately, the TW coming off the coast of Africa will be following the same path as what ultimately became TS BONNIE. Please monitor.! May Cod bless us all. Isabel Nice rain showers today End of day photo: |
- July 3 - A Beautiful Emancipation Day |
With the TW that passed mostly to our south long gone, this day was a lot friendlier. I am sure that our visitors enjoyed it; and if they happened to be in Fredriksted, they would have participated in the celebration of this Emancipation Day where there was going to be lots of music and where there’s music there’s always lots of food. That celebration was surely blessed with a nice day. May God bless us all. Isabel A really beautiful day ! End of day photo: that looks line a # 5 and we are 5 people in our family! |
- July 3 - A Disappointing TW |
We certainly expected more rain than we got out of this TW. Not complaining though, it was enough to saturate and make green again. For the next several days there will be a percentage of rain. Surely, there will be other TWs coming and soon we’ll have more than we can handle. May God bless us all. Isabel This was the face of our day today, with some spotty showers on and off. Happy 4th of July flag is up. We are also celebrating Emancipation day tomorrow. |
- July 1 - One down, Five to go ! |
Let’s see what July has in store for us. It began with Tropical Storm Bonnie forming in Central America, a disturbance 96L off the coast of Georgia, and our tropical wave which arrives tomorrow bringing lots of rain, we hope. The day was nice for visitors, but I was so busy that I only caught the sunset. Our weather is to change drastically tomorrow with the approach of the TW__ thunderstorms at 5:00 a.m.?? The dogs are not going to be happy! May God bless us all. Isabel End of Day photos: |
- June 30 - Looking forward to RAIN |
I could not believe when I heard this morning that a “mini hurricane” swept past us with very strong gusts and heavy rain around 2 a.m.! I slept through it! That was probably coming from one of the rain bands of “wanna be “ Bonnie. Well, hopefully this weekend we shall get that much awaited rain. We need not fear any development into something more powerful. This is a tropical wave which should remain just that when it’s in our neighborhood. May God bless us all. Isabel The weather was a mixed bag today. End of day photo. |
- June 29 - Pre-Tropical Wave Weather |
It has been very stormy with strong winds, high surf, rip currents, sometimes very cloudy, otherwise partly sunny. I thought it was coming from potential TS BONNIE, but that seemed too far to the south, however, according to some reports that “cutting wind” courtesy of that disturbance is what will keep our strong tropical wave from developing. Apparently we are suppose to get that much needed rain beginning with 100% on Saturday. We hope it materializes. May God bless us all. Isabel This is the kind of weather we had today. End of Day photo : |
- June 28 - Our TW is bringing RAIN! |
Well, we sure hope that’s the case. It has been hot and dry. Ii’s time for real rain! The TW heading this way is to join with another to eventually produce the “D” storm? Could be, I saw one image of our TW yellow and suddenly saw it red! In the meanwhile it still stands that we are going to have a delightfully soggy weekend from Saturday to Monday and that sounds good enough for me. May God bless us all. Isabel Rough surf and Rip current alerts End of day photo : |
- June 27 - Will We Have A Deluge This Coming Weekend |
A very strong tropical wave is forecast to pass through our territory and surrounding islands this weekend. It is capable of producing more rain than we’ve had all year so far. The strong wind cutting across from the potential tropical storm to our south will make it difficult for our disturbance to develop into anything more than a Depression. Nevertheless, we must prepare for the worse just in case . My prayers are with the folks to our south. Correspondent Ian, batten down over there in Trinidad and be safe along with all your people. May God bless us all. Isabel This is the kind of day we had today. End of Day photo: not meant to be a video Attachment:

- June 26 - A Real SUN Day |
Hello! I must add SUN with some roaming clouds. The possibility of afternoon thunderstorms did not materialize, so it was another hot, dry day. However, as long as we can smile, it’s a good day. As it looks at the moment, we should not have any effects whatsoever from 94 L except for some strong winds from the south which will help to keep the second tropical wave from forming. By the time that gets to us in several days it will be a tropical Depression bringing lots of rain to some very thirsty islands, like ours. That would be by next weekend. May God bless us all. Isabel Breezy and very pleasant late afternoon. Our very own Pelican End of Day photo: |
- June 25 - Another Hot, Dry Day!! |
The sea is getting warmer each day. The hurricane fuel is ready! We are hoping to ONLY get some rain from Invest 94L. That would probably be Tuesday 28th and perhaps a few extra days after that. That would be great! The deer are out eating all the succulent plants they can find. They are often in our property. A cousin in Germany said that we are so lucky. They have to go to the zoo to see deer! Well, for the sake of the deer and everything, and everyone, I hope and pray that it finally does rain. May God bless us all. Isabel Hot and Dry ! End of Day photo: |
- June 23 - Invest 94 L is Headed this Way ! |
It went from 20% to 60% chance in another five days as it forms into the “B” storm. By next Wednesday we should be feeling some effects from it. We are all hoping we can get some rain. Behind 94L there’s another one, but so far the NHC has not been very interested. At the moment they are focusing on 94L and another system in the Gulf area that can also become a name Storm. Lots of activity! At the moment we are getting a very nice rainfall! May God bless us all. Isabel Today’s weather: End of day photos: |

- June 23 - On their Way! |

More and more interest is growing as the third tropical wave is showing signs of becoming the “B” storm. The NHC has classified it as #1, a disturbance worth monitoring. We should all keep an eye on it as it gets closer to the island chain. May God bless us all. Isabel The weather today: hot and dry! Evening’s makarel sky.- e we M |
- June 22 - Three Tropical Waves |
Thanks to one of my sources I can pass on this vital information to you. Deciphering Weather is usually on too with the latest. The first TW is going to fight the dry air, or Saharan dust. The second wave is going to moisten the atmosphere, and the third one looks as if it will be one with which to contend. It could be the next name storm. May God bless us all.

- June 21 - All Weather Eyes on Next Week!I |
I heard from one of my weather sources that there’s a general agreement that the “B” storm could be making an appearance through the Caribbean next week. It’s a matter of tracking and watching the direction it takes. It could be too low to our south, but we don’t know for sure. May God bless us all. Isabel Some of the survivors: End of day photos: |
- June 20 - (part 2) In the Next two weeks… |
Last night’s post not only went out late - it was a busy day- but something went wrong with the photos and they came out extra large. Sorry about that. I was hearing today from one of my weather sources about a system forming in the main development region between Africa and the islands; so far, it remains a possibility. That would be around the end of June. It’s never too early to prepare! May God bless us all. Isabel Today’s postcard weather- early a.m. Best way to save an orchid plant! End of day photo : |

- June 18 - Tropical Activity Soon (?) |
There’s so much activity all around that the weather people cannot catch up. First it was the beginning of July to watch, now it’s before the end of June. And I don’t think anyone is ready for it, not at least until August. Well, we had better get with it because they were not kidding when they predicted a hyper active season. Plus, the waves are mostly coming this way, not like in the past when they turned up north. Watch and pray! May Gods bless us all! Isabel Late afternoon: End of Day photo: |
- June 17 - A July Hurricane ? |
There is a possibility of development of a storm in the Main Development Region or MDR in July. We have to watch, prepare, and pray. May God bless us all. Isabel Mid-morning Mid-afternoon End of Day photo: |
- June 16 - Cloudy All Day |
That is, with a smattering of sunshine sprinkled here and there. Gloomy..? Yes, I guess we can call it gloomy, especially if we paid for sunshine. I always feel sorry for the visitors who expect a blue sky and sea and they get a gray, sunless one instead. But hey, that’s better than a storm, right? I remember the couple who arrived late one Saturday and on Monday they were heading back home running from powerful Hurricane MARIA. They had just enough time to snap a few pictures at their beachfront Condo. Nothing like that now, just cloudy and calm. May God bless us all. Isabel |
- June 15 - Gray Day |
After last night’s wonderful rain and accompanying rumbling of thunder it has looked overcast all day as if ready to rain again. There’s rain in the forecast for tomorrow. The main talk is the very early activity between Africa and the Caribbean!! We could be having a hurricane in July somewhere in the Caribbean. This is serious talk, we have to prepare earlier. Be well, be ready, and may God bless us all. Isabel, Turbulent clouds and a quiet gecko chime End of day photo: |

- June 14 - Tropical Wave Slowly Aprroachiing |
It was the usual hot day but a refreshing breeze. That helps. Tracking the tropical wave I saw that it was not too far. It was going to pass mostly below us but we were going to get some rain. Well, shortly after 9 pm we got a very heavy shower, then another, I detected some rumbling in the distance. That was it, but got rain. This is just the beginning. May God bless us all. - June 13 - Four Tropical Waves in the Atlantic ! |
One of them is headed west between Cape Verde and St. Lucia, the other is headed west between Cape Verde and the British Isles. Monitor, please! Those are the two that should be of interest to us. The other two are potentially dangerous for the mainland. This is a regional forecast from Huracan Tropical in the Dominican Republic. So far, the activity for this season is surpassing the initial prediction. May God bless us all. Isabel This morning: R A I N !! Noontime: End of Day photo: |

- June 11 - Did I hear Raindrops last night? |
I sure did! Every drop is a blessing and it was so soothing. That was probably from the tropical wave mentioned by Barbados Correspondent Jurgen Starck. It must have rained again during the night. No lasting rains as yet to soak the ground but a little is better than nothing. We had two swift, hard showers this morning after I was up and about. I’m sure we caught some water in our tall blue tank. I think before long it’s going to rain, rain, rain. It’s good to be optimistic!! Then I’ll be begging it to stop, right? Such is life! May God bless us all. Isabel This was the early morning look. We did get a brief shower a bit later. Two of our Flamboyant trees are finally blooming. I appreciate the evergreens. They make such a difference. It’s been this way all day long. |
- June 10 - What a beautiful day! |

On the road to Covid recovery, we hope. Healing comes with each day and when the days are as beautiful as the ones we’ve been having it makes us feel much better. May God bless us all. Isabel End of day photos: |
- June 7 - Looks like RAIN in the Saturday Forecastng down to a trikle. |
Today the water from the hose of my garden tank was low, working down to a trickle. We will have to start using the cistern water for the plants and turtles. Hopefully on Saturday we will get that rain! I know that the day will come when will be begging it to stop. This drought has lasted longer than usual. I also keep hearing reports of a very active season. Everyone is in agreement also that the number of hurricanes will be higher that in previous years. It’s wise to begin early preparations as we could have lots of activity before the peak of the season. Be well. Prepare. aweend stay well. May God bless us all. Isabel Usually the gazebo cannot be seen from the upper level. As for the white flowers, they are not affected by the drought as the branches are loaded with a milky moisture. End of day photo: |

- June 6 - Eleven Hurricanes in the New Forecast ! |
Heads up, everyone! It's never too early to start preparing for what is considered "a very aggressive" hurricane season. Today I met someone who came down from Florida to fix his father's roof and get it ready. A fine move! The roof is the most critical part of the house. If that goes, so does the rest. Granted, houses are better constructed now than in pre-HUGO times. Shoddy construction led to mountains of debris after that hurricane. So, let's get to work! I hope Public Works will begin cleaning up the many abandoned houses which have caved in creating piles of debris; these in turn become missiles during hurricanes. We have to start working at hurricane preparedness from now; apparently, the storms are going to traverse more to the south this time and that means right through our Caribbean neighborhood. May God bless us all! Isabel |
- June 5- Tropical Storm ALEX ! |
The potential storm # 1 finally was officially declared the first tropical storm of the season after it had beaten up a few places along the way leaving a trail of death and destruction with 30 people missing! Now it’s heading for a bull’s eye assault on Bermuda on Monday. They are always well prepared and should be able to brave the storm which will be considerably smaller than others with which they dealt in the past. This is only the beginning folks! We have a long road ahead until November. Be prepared! May God bless us all. Isabel End of day photo: |
- June 5 - A Fuzzy-Wuzzy Day ! |
Saharan dust! It leaves a tell-tale sign on our cars and on everything else! The blue turns to gray and then, of course, the sea. Worst of all, when the dust is present it dries up any possibility of rain which we need so much. The dust also makes it feel hotter, perhaps because it comes from Africa..? Naw, that’s a bit far-fetched. I can hardly wait for those refreshing tropical waves from Africa, even if they get dramatic sometimes.. At the moment they are too low to our south to benefit us. Hope you’re having a cooler day. May God bless us all. Isabel Looking towards the Northwest.
- June 4 - The Drought Continues… |
In the meanwhile other places are getting an over abundance of rain produced by the disturbance in the GOM. It has remained a “potential” cyclone making its way across Florida and parts of Cuba leaving a trail of flooded areas behind. Here the Saharan dust has crept back in. Our 1 minute Ferry ride to the beach on the cay this morning was most refreshing. We wanted our guest from Delaware to experience it. She was amazed at how warm the water felt. The sky was most entertaining with all sorts of puffy cloud formations. It was another wonderful day in the American Paradise. May God bless us all. Isabel |
- June 3 - Morning Glory! |
Very early this morning as the sun rose it kissed our golden palace in the historic site, which we can see from our house. Actually, it is not a palace, but a real fort with cannons and canon balls ready for any threat. Tourists and locals alike enjoy a visit there. It has a beautiful, commanding view of the surrounding area. The weather is “dreamy”- no rain in sight. Watching Florida and hoping everyone gets through the worst safely. May God bless them and us all. Isabel |
- June 2 - All Quiet, Hot and Dry ! |
If hot and dry is your kind of weather, then welcome to St. Croix! Even this palm tree looks as if it’s begging for some relief. I must admit that night temps are cool, so it’s like the desert. We’re keeping an eye on Florida where we have many people. We were expecting a friend from Delaware tonight and all flights were canceled this morning, so fortunately she can come tomorrow arriving earlier which is better. However, she’s coming through Miami !! The storm heading to Florida has a 90% chance of developing, so that’s kind of “iffy”. We can only hope for the best. May God bless us all. Isabel Hot and Dry

- Helloooooo, Caribbean neighbors and beyond!! |
June 1 - Hurricane Season 2022 promises to be very active, or hyper-active, with the presence of the MJO (Madden Julian Oscillation) which tends to enhance things. As you see from my signature photo, our weather is very pleasant. However, we wish that the drought be over soon so that we can see green lawns and the flamboyant trees blooming with their beautiful, flaming flowers. We need rain, not like the 10” they expect in Florida and Cuba by the weekend, but enough each day to make a difference. I wish you all a safe and happy season. Enjoy it one day at a time as we do. May God bless us all. Isabel |
