- Sargasso Seaweed
  • By Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>

Hi all,

Along time since I have done a post. I have been watching Mr Weatherman and he has just done a broadcast about the seaweed. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCDHMobwxF8

We had some seaweed a couple of weeks ago, but currently it is not too bad here. But watching Mr Weatherman it does look as if there is a very large amount of Sargasso seaweed on it's way across the Atlantic. Most of it at the moment appears to be further north, but looks as if we could get some in the coming weeks.

All the best

- Possible Tropical Storm in next 24-48 hours

An area just East of T&T looks as if it could become a Tropical Storm within the next 48 hours as it moves through the Grenada area.

- There is a weather system just South of the Cabo Verde islands

This is the first area of concern for some time. It looks as if it will pass north of the Lesser Antilles.

I wonder if the lack of storms in the tropics is due to the constant High pressure we are getting in the UK and Europe causing drought conditions. Please send us some rain!

- The storm has passed well south of Grenada.

Tropical Depression Two did not reach Tropical Storm force. I believe the worst weather Grenada suffered was from rain and thunder before it's closest approach.

Now we should look to the East as there are more tropical waves on the conveyor belt.

All the best

- Tropical Depression Two nearing Trinidad.

It looks as if the centre of the Tropical Depression/Storm will pass through Trinidad then scrape along the Venezuela coast, about 90miles south of Grenada. My guess is that there could be strong Easterly winds over night and tomorrow morning. It still has not been given Tropical Storm status, as I type.

All the best over night and tomorrow morning.

- 94L-Tropical Depression Two almost Tropical Storm "Bonnie"?

Please listen to official weather forecasts. Below is only my opinion based on websites that I keep an eye on. The NHC forecast does show Grenada to be in the Tropical Storm risk area.

It now looks as if the centre of this weather system will pass a good bit South of Grenada, scraping just off the Venezuela coast. If this is the case, then hopefully Grenada may not get Tropical Storm force winds. But still be prepared for them in case it drifts a bit further north. It now  appears that it will pass south of Grenada overnight tonight into tomorrow (Tuesday/Wednesday). Be prepared for strong Easterly winds and possibly some heavy rain.

All the best and keep safe.

- Not much change since yesterday, 94L moving closer.

94L following the predicted course. Most models show it somewhere between Trinidad and Grenada, arriving Wednesday. As far as I can see they are predicting a Tropical Storm by the time of arrival in our area, but could be a Cat 1.  Unless some other system beats it, it is likely to be "Bonnie" the second named storm this year.

There is another tropical wave following 94L, I will keep an eye on that.

Keep safe.

- All of the models are showing 94L coming very close to Grenada

The models appear to be in agreement that 94L will be a Tropical Storm (maybe a Cat1) by Wednesday as it passes very close to Grenada. As far as I can see, the predictions are that it could pass close South of Grenada, if this is the case then the winds will be strong Easterlies.

Suggest you start looking for anything that could be blown and cause damage.

I will update tomorrow.

- Looking at a system well out in the Atlantic

Hi all,

It has been a long time since I did a post. Hope you are all OK.

I am watching a weather system that is brewing well out in the Atlantic. Currently some websites have it approaching the Grenada region about Wednesday/Thursday next week. I will keep an eye on it.
