Damage from hurricane Delta in Playa del Carmen was fortunately fairly minimal. Parts of the city are still without electricity (probably due to damaged cables) but much of the city is now functioning as normal. Some (if not all) of the hotel zone in Cancún has electricity.

Cozumel, October 7, 2020 10:30am

Good morning!  I know you’re all anxious to hear how the island made it through the storm.  Everyone is safe which is the most important thing.  Electricity is out on much of the island, there is widespread flooding, and the sea is still very angry.  As of 10:20am, Delta is well on her way out of the Yucatán heading into the Gulf of Mexico but there is still lingering rain and thunderstorms.  No severe damage has been noted yet although there is some debris as to be expected.  More updates when it is completely over and things are back to “normal” whatever that looks like in 2020.  IEveryone needs rest right now so that the cleanup can begin when the rain stops.  Here is an image and a video clip of the waterfront courtesy of our own Captain Edwin a/k/a “Pato”

Playa del Carmen, 06-Oct-2020 11:18pm

All is currently calm with just light rain as we await the storm. All businesses have been closed since 5pm and my feeling is that everyone had sufficient time to prepare for the storm so I don't expect any major problems and all going well the town will return to normal tomorrow, Wednesday.
