- Flooding, landslides, crocodiles, even a small earthquake. |

Hello! It's been a very active few days here in Jamaica, lots of flooding, landslides, crocodiles showing up in many places. At the time of writing this post, Tropical Storm Eta is affecting Florida with 65mph winds, after passing through Honduras and Nicaragua, then passing over the Cayman Islands, while still inducing a trough over Jamaica with rain bands. Flooding and landslides in Kingston & St. Andrew due to heavy and prolonged rainfall. Gordon Town road landslide. Along with these, many other areas were affected by flooding and landslides. The small earthquake that we got was measured 3.4 by the Earthquake Unit. Be safe. Mr. K. Maragh Clarendon Distillers Ltd. Monymusk P.O. Attachment:

- Rains, flooding and Eta. |
|
Hello! Eta has passed South of Jamaica, but is forecast to pass West of Jamaica soon. Hence Jamaica is expecting more showers and cloudiness for the rest of the week. Flash flood watches and warnings have been issued for low lying areas until 5pm today (Wednesday) but will most likely continue until the rain has stopped. Our soil moisture levels are maxed, especially in the Southern Parishes. Some roads were impassable due flood waters, some landslides in hilly areas. We have seen videos and images from Nicaragua of what Major Hurricane Eta has done. Hopefully they can recover soon. I'm watching that huge blob Southwest of us (which is a rain band from Eta) to move over Jamaica and bring more showers and possibly thunderstorms. Keep safe! Mr. K. Maragh Clarendon Distillers Ltd. - Lots of rain! |
|
Good day! The inclement weather in Jamaica has been on for much of October, with the passing of Delta, couple tropical waves and now a trough affecting the island. Rainfall averages per day in the South have been about 1 inch, the ground is soaked. Kingston, Westmoreland, St. Thomas and Montego Bay have seen flooding situations. The forecast is for more rain into the weekend. There was a Computer Model (GFS) forecasting a storm passing over Jamaica that went viral. It seems unlikely now, but we are watching the area. One model I saw forecasted a storm to enter the Caribbean early November, so let's see. Meanwhile, Hurricane Epsilon will be passing East of Bermuda in a few days. The trough of low pressure is at 20% chance of forming in the next 5 days. Stay Safe! Mr. K. Maragh Clarendon Distillers Ltd. Monymusk P.O. |
- Tropical Storm Delta |
|
Hi everyone! Tropical Storm Delta has formed South of Jamaica and is heading NNW towards the Cayman Islands and Cuba later on. As it passes, the Eastern, Southern and Western sections of the island should get substantial amounts of rain into Wednesday. Flooding is possible in these areas. At the moment we are experiencing intermittent showers as the bands rotate from the storm and pass over us. It's still early to tell where exactly Tropical Storm Delta will end up as it strengthens and heads NNW towards the Southern coast of the US. (TS Delta at 8am EDT on Monday October 5, 2020) Stay safe everyone! Mr. K. Maragh Clarendon Distillers Ltd. Monymusk P.O. |
- Strong Tropical Wave plus more. |
|
Hi! So we have a strong Tropical Wave passing South of the island. The rains started on Tuesday. We had some crazy lightning and thunder in the night along with heavy rains. This Tropical Wave is expected to become a Tropical Depression near the Cayman Islands over the weekend. At time of writing we are having some showers. (Screen cap from windy.com) Look what's next, another one to watch for Jamaica. Mr. K. Maragh Clarendon Distillers Ltd. Monymusk P.O. |
- Fwd: Unstable weather caused by TS Nana. |
|
From: Krishna Maragh <krishmar4 at gmail.com> Date: Wed, Sep 2, 2020 at 6:16 AM Subject: Unstable weather caused by TS Nana. Morning! In terms of Tropical Storm Nana, its moving West towards Belize at 18MPH with winds of 60MPH and has left a trail of unstable weather behind it. Eastern and Southeastern Parishes have been receiving most of the rain. Southern Parishes have gotten about 1.5inches since yesterday (see pic below). Since Jamaica's weather radar has been down for awhile, the closest radar we have is provided by Cuba. (Insmet.cu) As you can see, more rain is on the way, coming from the east, and more is forecasted for tomorrow in terms of afternoon showers and Thunderstorms. Stay safe! Mr. K. Maragh Clarendon Distillers Ltd. Monymusk P.O. |
- Tropical Storm Nana. |
|
TS Nana has formed South of Jamaica and is sending some thunderstorms and rain bands over us. It is moving West at 16MPH with winds of 50MPH and is forecasted to be a hurricane before hitting Belize. Forecast for more showers and thunderstorms for the next few days. (gif capture from Windy.com) Be safe! Mr. K. Maragh Clarendon Distillers Ltd. Monymusk P.O. |
- Invest 99L |
|
Hello! I am monitoring Invest 99L which will most likely become Nana or Omar, since Invest 90L will be Tropical Depression Fifteen soon. We currently have a trough over us until Tomorrow (Tuesday) when this very strong Tropical Wave will pass south of us. Most of the thunderstorms are to the north of the system, so Jamaica is expected to receive lots of showers and thunderstorms. Everyone here saying we need the rain, hopefully we don't get too much of it. Stay safe! Mr. K. Maragh Clarendon Distillers Ltd. Monymusk P.O. |
- TS Laura |
|
Good day! The outer bands of Tropical Storm Laura are passing Jamaica at this moment. We are experiencing heavy rains with winds in some areas. Some flooding reported in Kingston. A flash flood warning is in effect for Northern and Southeastern Parish, and Flash Flood watch remains for all other parishes.
The Meteorological Service has upgraded the Flash Flood
Watch to a Flash Flood Warning for low-lying and flood-prone areas of
Westmoreland, Hanover St. James, St. Ann, St. Mary, Portland, St. Thomas, Kingston and St. Andrew. Effective until 8:00pm Monday. The forecast is for moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms to continue to affect sections of all parishes. Here is a photo while I was on my way to work this morning. Yesterday at sunset (August 23, 2020) the sky had a yellow colour. Here is an actual photo of the colour (no filters): Be safe people. Mr. K. Maragh Clarendon Distillers Ltd. Monymusk P.O. |
- Isaias |
|
Good day! Here we have menacing storm Isaias passing by Jamaica. We will not be affected but I am hoping for some rain bands because it is very hot! Yesterday (June 29) the realfeel for May Pen was 39c (102f), not as hot as some States in the US at the moment. Today (June 30) it's hot 34c (94f) and windy with winds of 17mph(28km/h) and gusts of 22mph(36km/h). TS Isaias is moving NW at 20mph with winds at 60mph and there is another forming off the coast of Africa! Mr. K. Maragh Clarendon Distillers Ltd. Monymusk P.O. |
- Dusty days |
|
Hello everyone! The topic of the week is the Saharan Dust. It has never been this bad since i've seen it in the past years. It's extremely hazy and humid. It's supposed to last for about 3 or more days so we are waiting for it to let up. In the thick of it right now. The beginning of the dust. In the midst of the dust. Stay Safe! Mr. K.
