Although we have had a few sprinkles of rain on the north coast - the ground is dry under the top inch of soil. Cattle and horses are in dire need of rain to bring back the grass. Looking at the satellite pictures we may get some soon and we are all waiting anxiously for relief from this drought.

After a lot of rain in January and February it has been very dry - with only half the usual rainfall in March and April. May has been even worse with only 2 inches instead of the usual 11. Everywhere is dry and brown and those who can afford it are having to buy in feed for the animals. The men with cows are coming around empty lots and cutting the grass. This doesn't bode well for the summer but tonight we had a short shower of rain and hopefully there is more to come. But in moderation please!!!
