0230 - we just had steady rain with very short downpours for about the past two
hours. Continues to be breezy with some gusts in the valley I’m located in.

All is well here in Vieques.  Esperanza Bay kicked up this afternoon when the winds came in from the Southwest.  The Southside beaches will be a mess.

Good news, the ferries are still running and we have electricity.

So far this a quiet event.  We are very, very ,very grateful that we are not part of the "Main Event" and Erin missed us.  Fingers crossed she continues to avoid land.

The frogs and crickets are singing joyfully after the rain.  The garden is perking up and the cistern is topped off. It is a great evening.

All is well and we are grateful,
Kate

Hello!

We are doing well so far.

Currently a bit breezy with some gusts where I am (I’m tucked into a valley in
the middle of Vieques), but down on the water, both Atlantic and Caribbean side
of the island is consistently windy. We have had quick passing light showers so
far.

Majority of the restaurants and bars have closed or are working on closing
shortly. A few colmados (small grocery stores, bodegas in NYC 😆) are still
open, but will be closing early.

Ferry system — currently the boats are still running between Vieques & Culebra.
The service between Cataño and San Juan has been suspended for the rest of
today.

We’re supposed to be getting the worst over night. I do see a band heading our
way, so we’ll see if conditions deteriorate.

I have solar with battery back-up and StarLink. I’ll send another message out
if conditions worsen and if not, right before bed just so you have an update.
As long as it’s not raining too heavy as I have an older StarLink model so
heavy rain does affect it.

Thanks for reaching out!
Michelle
