Next week the Big Rain should be coming from the many waves coming off the coast of Africa. So far it’s been just passing by. We need the kind that stays for a while longer and saturates the ground. However, with the little we have gotten the green is showing up fast!! May God bless us all. Isabel End of day photos ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| - Aug. 30- what a Relief! RAIN! |
A good part of the day was outdoor weather so that our visitors could move around our beautiful Alexander Hamilton island. However, it rained overnight and this morning . So far, the evening has been rainy and very coooool! Absolutely wonderful. More is expected as you can see from the Weather Channel info which I just got from my phone . We certainly need a lot more to soothe our parched land. We hope everyone in the Caribbean also got a good share. May God bless us all. Isabel Unfortunately I could not attach the weather info.

| - Hoping for more rain from this sky | |

| - Wow getting some strong wind gusts! |
Up here, at an elevation of about 260 feet on Hermon Hill, we have been getting some strong, pretty constant wind gusts from the south for the past 15 minutes or so, in the clear area in the radar - probably where the low is situated. Sent from my iPhone |
| - A cool rainy morning! |
Jane’s report from STT is about the same for STX. We had some heavier rains and some moderate wind overnight into early morning. Looks like most of the rain is departing our area. Wish we had gotten more rain but anything is better than nothing. Sent from my iPhone |
| - Aug. 29- Waiting for Rain.. |
Sitting on the edge of my chair! I understand that the remnants of DOLLY are trying to regain its title. It has more convection and looking very healthy. We expect it on Sunday afternoon through Monday and possibly Tuesday..the main problem is the flooding. It hasn’t rained for so long that probably no one cares. Be well. May God bless you us all. | - Aug. 28- Heavy Rain Coming! |
What a welcome relief though it will come with flooding in many area. Just hope that everyone is cautious. My fear is the slope behind our house. I hope it stays put. The best thing to do is stay indoors and enjoy it from inside. We haven’t seen rain in “ages”. Be well. Be safe. May God bless us all. Isabel End of day photo ![]() We got a little shower from this cloud.

| - Aug. 27- Tropical Storm DOLLY ! |
Hello there! It’s finally looking more interesting with so much rain coming. I think I will go out at some point and dance in the rain if there’s no lightning. So what if I am in my 80’s. I’ll make sure I’m fully clothed! TS DOLLY is going to give us a good drenching. It has been a 3 month drought in our neck of the woods on St. Croix, other areas have had rain, especially the west end. We do have flood prone areas here so I expect that that will happen. The rain comes as a special gift for my husband and I as we celebrate our 64th Wedding Anniversary! May God bless us all! Isabel ![]() End of day photo: ![]() |

Good night, Caribbean neighbors! We are encouraged to pay attention to two tropical waves halfway through the Atlantic which could be good for us if they bring that much needed rain, or bad if they develop into destructive cyclones. They are headed this way. It’s a matter of days. We shall know more tomorrow. Be well stay safe and may God bless us all. Isabel End of day photo

It has been the same old, same old kind of weather. Very dusty, no rain. Yet below us to the south they have been flooded. Central America also. I heard that the wave that just came off the coast of Africa looks as if it means business. It will probably move over us north of the islands as it goes westward. We haven’t had a beneficial rain for a long time so this might be the chance. Ahead of it is another plume of dust which can be the last one . We hope. From now on if anyone is coming to the Caribbean it would be wise to pay attention to the tropical updates. May God bless us all. Isabel Evening photos ![]() ![]() ![]() |
| - June 10 - Still Hot, Dry, and Dusty |
We’ve been having the same pattern for weeks with very little rain. The tropical waves have not made it this high as yet. We get some sporadic showers every now and then, but not enough to make a difference to our cisterns. The good news is that the number of storms have been reduced. The bad news is that the Saharan Dust can continue through the Summer months. That can inhibit the beneficial rain we need. We just have to take it day by day; beat the heat during the day and enjoy the cool evening breeze. May God bless us all.

Finally some rain! Not a lot but anything is wonderful at this point. Late afternoon and last night. Decent showers. My rain gauge is defunct so I’m guessing about a .10” |

This deer was thirsting for water; none in the pail ever since the tank went dry. I logged water down but not enough for all the containers; so he almost emptied the small water dispenser available for the cats and the mother hens and their chicks. Fortunately, it left some. Notice dry it is. A water truck drove up to our neighbors today; we will soon have to do the same. Another concern are the earthquakes..our hearts go out to our Venezuelan neighbors to our south. May God bless us all. Isabel ![]() ![]() |
| - June 24 - A Persistent Drought |
Our cisterns are running out of water. We have not had to replenish them for a long time. Now we have to. We know that the rain is coming the question is when..the Saharan dust is still hanging around that’s good and bad. I wish you all well my Caribbean neighbors. May God bless us all. It has been hot and dry forever it seems. No beneficial rain where we live. ![]() ![]() The “flower torches” are blooming beautifully in their green plants, but look at our lawn! Gray! It used to be green like the plants. | - June 14 - Red Flag warning today. |
The warning was issued by Alert VI because of the drought which has dried out many areas making it susceptible to the least spark. The wind was blowing adding to the danger of a potencial fire fanned by the wind. The day was hot, the night is cool. May God bless us all. Hello Gert, and al the correspondents and followers of Storm Carib abroad! In the meanwhile I celebrated my 84th birthday even after banging my head during several falls. So here I am ready to tackle the season. In the meanwhile we have had dense Saharan dust. I think today was the worse. It is also hot and dry. We’re all happy when a very brief shower passes by. Before long we’ll be begging the rain to stop. There are many waves coming off the west coast of Africa. Soon they’ll be coming out at our level. We need the rain! All the best to the folks on all the neighboring islands. May God bless us all. Isabel Midday all gray ![]() Midafternoon the same; the blue is gone for now. ![]() End of day photo: ![]() |
