It has been the same old, same old kind of weather. Very dusty, no rain. Yet below us to the south they have been flooded. Central America also. I heard that the wave that just came off the coast of Africa looks as if it means business. It will probably move over us north of the islands as it goes westward. We haven’t had a beneficial rain for a long time so this might be the chance. Ahead of it is another plume of dust which can be the last one . We hope. From now on if anyone is coming to the Caribbean it would be wise to pay attention to the tropical updates. May God bless us all. Isabel Evening photos ![]() ![]() ![]() |

We’ve been having the same pattern for weeks with very little rain. The tropical waves have not made it this high as yet. We get some sporadic showers every now and then, but not enough to make a difference to our cisterns. The good news is that the number of storms have been reduced. The bad news is that the Saharan Dust can continue through the Summer months. That can inhibit the beneficial rain we need. We just have to take it day by day; beat the heat during the day and enjoy the cool evening breeze. May God bless us all.

Finally some rain! Not a lot but anything is wonderful at this point. Late afternoon and last night. Decent showers. My rain gauge is defunct so I’m guessing about a .10” |

This deer was thirsting for water; none in the pail ever since the tank went dry. I logged water down but not enough for all the containers; so he almost emptied the small water dispenser available for the cats and the mother hens and their chicks. Fortunately, it left some. Notice dry it is. A water truck drove up to our neighbors today; we will soon have to do the same. Another concern are the earthquakes..our hearts go out to our Venezuelan neighbors to our south. May God bless us all. Isabel ![]() ![]() |
| - June 24 - A Persistent Drought |
Our cisterns are running out of water. We have not had to replenish them for a long time. Now we have to. We know that the rain is coming the question is when..the Saharan dust is still hanging around that’s good and bad. I wish you all well my Caribbean neighbors. May God bless us all. It has been hot and dry forever it seems. No beneficial rain where we live. ![]() ![]() The “flower torches” are blooming beautifully in their green plants, but look at our lawn! Gray! It used to be green like the plants. End of day photo” A spooky end of the day that’s for sure! ![]() Let’s hope and pray that those of us in the high and dry islands will soon get that rain that is “coming “ but never arrives. May God bless us all. Isabel

| - June 14 - Red Flag warning today. |
The warning was issued by Alert VI because of the drought which has dried out many areas making it susceptible to the least spark. The wind was blowing adding to the danger of a potencial fire fanned by the wind. The day was hot, the night is cool. May God bless us all. Some of us in the Caribbean are flooded and others are high and dry like us. I’m hoping that the next tropical waves, as they climb will bring the rain we need for our cisterns and plants. May God bless us all. Isabel

Hello Gert, and al the correspondents and followers of Storm Carib abroad! In the meanwhile I celebrated my 84th birthday even after banging my head during several falls. So here I am ready to tackle the season. In the meanwhile we have had dense Saharan dust. I think today was the worse. It is also hot and dry. We’re all happy when a very brief shower passes by. Before long we’ll be begging the rain to stop. There are many waves coming off the west coast of Africa. Soon they’ll be coming out at our level. We need the rain! All the best to the folks on all the neighboring islands. May God bless us all. Isabel Midday all gray ![]() Midafternoon the same; the blue is gone for now. ![]() End of day photo: ![]() |
