Well, the rain continues, and the island's cisterns are now full. The weather front that was expected to move through has stalled, making for another very wet day. The upcoming holidays—Mary Prince Day and Emancipation Day—are traditionally a time for camping, and we have already seen some tents set up at Shelly Bay. However, the rain's intensity is sure to affect the celebrations and camping plans in the days ahead. Fortunately, the Bermuda High is expected to return, bringing more settled weather and improving conditions. I still found time for Rum Swizzle at The Reefs Ann

Happy Monday Bon Siman
Weather has turned inclement with strong winds and squalls. Unsettled weather will continue, with periods of rain, gusty showers, and a few isolated thunderstorms, especially on Tuesday. It's of course good for the cisterns and gardens. My partner woke up being bitten by something. Pulling back the sheets revealed a 6 inch centipede. A quick Google Image search revealed it to be a Mediterranean Banded Centipede Further Google searches revealed locally it's called the St. David's Centipede. Thankfully he was not allergic but the pain was intense. Not fun. The island is preparing for Mary Prince Day and Cup Match, this year on the west end. Go St. Georges

We had a glorious July day on Saturday. The seas were initially calm, but by day’s end, the surf had picked up significantly and the winds had strengthened. A front is now moving in, bringing some unsettled and potentially inclement weather. It rained a bit but it's sunny, for now. I witnessed this once a year beauty bloom, what joy.

Happy Bermuda Day! Today marks the traditional first sea bath of the year for many Bermudians, and I was happy to have mine this morning. Now I’m ready to enjoy the festivities ahead! From the excitement of the parades to the energy of the road races, the island is alive with celebration today. And the weather could not be better. The winds are light, the sea is calm, and the beaches are looking beautiful. I’ve visited three beaches already and have seen very little sargassum, making for lovely conditions to enjoy the water and the holiday spirit. Wishing everyone a safe, joyful, and sunshine-filled Bermuda Day!

I love the word "Bermuda high". After a stormy week we expect nice seasonal weather. ARC Boats are in from their race. Their flags and regalia are prominent in St. Georges Harbour.
A friend who hasn't been on the island in years wanted a visit to the iconic Swizzle Inn. We decided drinking is not for us!! It was a blast. As they say in Papiamento on Bonaire each Monday, "Bon Siman". Good Week!
