Good afternoon all, we have a nice rain again now in Port au Prince. Since one week we find every day, we are really happy for all workers in agriculture here .All startet to be fresh green. But here in the Mountains its really coold now :( |

Update late because of lack of internet and electriciry..
TS erika passed through haiti very quietly. Just a day without sunlight. And some rain. Other parts of the country experienced it just the same or no rain at all.The rainfall in the dominican republic raised the water level in some rivers, which is good for the rural parts of the country. Let's hope the season continues smoothly.
Best wishes to the residents of Dominica, an condolences to those who lost loved ones.

Hi to all and thank you Gert to ask about Haiti, we arefine and is was not to bad , just some rain and strong winds on the night. but there is not big demage on the country we just happy to got rain . Maybe very lokaly there are some spoys they got problems with water but not like dominica Greatings to all Thomas |

Hi Gert ! Sorry was kind of busy and in fact I lost the secret email . During strong El Nino events, Haiti is usually protected
from hurricane strikes as most storm are destroyed or curves out to sea, paradoxically
the same conditions that usually saved us (dryer air et wind shear) contributed
the storm weak strength that took it on the collision course with the southern Haitian peninsula. Fortunately,
things were not as bad as feared; so far only two injuries have been reported
in the Sarth neighborhood after the collapsing of a house due to flooding. In
the southeast part of the country many crops were lost after strong wind
associated with Erica. Many people were evacuated but Erica’s bark was less than
her bite unlike in the Dominican Republic that received more than 600 mm in
some location in the capital and the surrounding area between 15 to 50 mm were
recorded. Most of the precipitations felled close to the border where more than
150 mm felled between 0 UTC the 28th and 7 UTC the 29th.

Hi Gert;
There is really no news to report. Had some light rain and wind
yesterday evening around 8 PM, some drizzle this morning but that's it.
This is from north central Haiti, about 39 miles from northern coast of
Haiti.

It's been very hot and humid all day. Brief and light rain in the afternoon and evening. As of 10:30pm some steady rain has started but not alot of wind.
Hope this passes quietly and the farmers will appreciate the rain.
