The ground is still pretty wet, so we don’t really want more rain right now however…

1. A large area of showers and thunderstorms located several hundred

miles east of the Windward Islands is associated with a tropical

wave.  Development, if any, of this system is expected to be slow

to occur while the wave moves westward at 10 to 15 mph. Regardless

of tropical cyclone development, locally heavy rains and gusty winds

are possible in the Windward and southern Leeward Islands during the

next couple of days as the wave approaches and then passes.

* Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent

We didn’t get much wind to speak of,  but we got a lot of rain…1 inch in the first downpour around 1 am yesterday, drizzle off and on through the morning to give us another ¼ inch, then the sun came out for a while…about 3 it started to drizzle again, then heavier and heavier…lost visibility early…at 10 pm I checked the rain gauge and it was almost full with 4.5 inches…we decided we’d better lower the pool water since it was within an inch of the top and didn’t know where the overflow would go, so better safe than sorry…another 2.5 inches overnight and it’s still drizzling and from the satellite photo I guess we could get more precipitation for a few hours yet…water rushing down the roads, down the hills, the pasture below us is a lake, the roadside gutters are full and overflowing, and the beach land below us has huge puddles…it’s wet…and I thought it was going to go north and miss us!!

Haven’t heard anything about St. Vincent yet…

We woke up to heavy rain shortly after 1 am….lots of thunder and some lightning…drifted back to sleep with a scared dog shaking the bed…woke up around 6 to an overcast morning, it’s now drizzling and there is occasional thunder, but the sky is brightening somewhat to the east…hard to tell from the satellite photos if we are going to get anything else from this tropical wave but my guess is that it will continue north of us…we measured an inch of rain from last nights downpour which is great for the water tanks…
