Good afternoon everyone
Today has brought some heavy showers with periods of sun and even occasional glimpses of blue skies in between clouds.
Roads are in good condition when i was out during the last 2 hours. No signs of flooding between George Town in to West Bay. Rains have not been for prolonged periods.
Kind regards Alicia (Jen) Dixon

Good afternoon everyonè
Bit of rainy weather moving through our area over the weekend. See attached from our local weather service. The area of low pressure in the South Western Caribbean is interacting with an upper level trough. We are expecting some heavy showers through the
weekend. Today there has been periods of heavy down pours with intermittent light drizzles. I have attached a few photos. Calms seas and overcast skies.
Kind regards, Jen Dixon

It's turning out to be another hot day here. A slight breeze, but not enough to
make my yard work any easier.
The usual buildup is occurring.....developing over the interior and sailing
west. I'm sure folks in Savannah down to George Town, and possibly West Bay
road, will be getting some rain in a bit.

Good Day to All!
It looks as thought the dry spell has been broken, as we have been experiencing
intermittent showers over the past week or so.
The grass is vibrant green, and the mosquitoes have arrived. Walking my dogs
has now become "running my dogs".
Over the past few days, there has been some heavy showers by me. Usually at
night or in the early morning.
On the way to town, there was another large cell moving in from the south east.

What a difference a few hours can make! Especially with the temperature.
In the mornings, it is cool, and by afternoon you are sweating. The heat seems
a bit much for this time of year.
This morning, around 6:30, it was nice and cool, not that uncommon for us here
in the interior of the island this time of year. Takes the right conditions
though...no wind, no cloud cover etc...
This afternoon, the sun is blazing hot. Hot enough for us to have some
heating-of-the-day rain.

The eastern portion of Grand remains hot and dry. A few sprinkles now and
again, but nothing that would reverse the brown spots that are popping up in my
lawn.
Seems a bit cloudy this morning, so hopefully there will soon be a change in
the narrative.

Our hearts are with those in Haiti and the effected regions left behind in Matthew's wake. You'll be happy to hear that help and aid are close, preparing to come to you. We had a flurry of Air Force activity here in Cayman today as the US has sent a full barrage of aircraft to escape the storms in Florida and prep to arrive on your shores. It is like an Air Force museum at our tiny airport tarmac right now, lined with Sikorsky Black Hawks and Chinooks. By the looks of it, they are stocked with supplies for you.
Many thoughts being sent your way. Stay strong!

Today has brought a slight wind, but it is still hot in my neck of the woods.
There is a constant rumble of thunder in the west. Spoke to a relative who told
me that they were enjoying a heavy shower in Savannah. Pic attached. The local
radar is showing some heavy showers from Savannah area, heading west to George
Town.
Still keeping an eye on Matthew.

- Hurricane Matthew now cat 4

Matthew is now a cat 4! My thoughts and prayers for those in its path. The fatality count is now at 2.
A great explanation on how this storm has strengthened so quickly (it was just a depression wednesday morning!) can be found here.
The predicted route is still holding (eastern tip of Jamaica and then northward), but like previous posters, I am preparing. Just in case.
As of mid-afternoons, supermarkets and hardware stores saw a few early birds come in for supplies, but the majority appear to be waiting.
CNS has just put out an article on severe weather warning for sister islands.
Have a good evening! Sharon

We are glad to see and hear that those already hit by Matthew are safe and sound. As for us, and as stated by another from our islands, we are taking notice. Hopeful that most models have him turning north but a feeling in my stomach has me concerned of a westerly path. In any case, it's a weekend to restock the kit and prep sand bags.
It is very hot right now and the ocean has been very calm. Last night we watched as 4 superstar storm cells circled the island

I hope everyone in the Eastern Caribbean that is in the path of Matthew is
staying safe, and don't suffer any serious damage.
With the entrance of Matthew into the EC, we are sitting up and taken notice.
While I appreciate the technological advances in weather predicting, there is a
voice in my head telling me to replenish what was eaten out of the hurricane
supply cabinet. Just in case.
On the local scene, it is HOT here. Down right uncomfortable outside. There
were a few showers on the western side of the island a few days ago, the usual
afternoon heating of the day rain.
As I started to type this, I was surprised by some seriously loud thunder just
to the south. Decided to go outside with my phone to take a pic of the
lighting. Not the smartest of hobbies to have, but oh well. First snap...got
lucky.

Today has been an active day, as far as rain is concerned. Spoke to a friend
that lives closer to Rum Point, said they ran out of their pool to take cover
from the lighting.
It looks as if it is our turn now. As I type the rain is starting to come down.
Driving along the south coast on the way home, I got a nice pic of a cell
moving inland.

On the way home this evening, our commute took a little longer. While driving
through Savannah, the rain came down fairly hard. Lasted all the way up to
Bodden Town before it eased up.
The local radar is showing increased activity in our area.

Although there has been a decrease in shower activity since yesterday, some
areas are still getting the occasional downpour.
Got a decent pic of a cloud drifting in from the south. By the time we arrived
at our destination we had to stay in the car for about ten minutes until the
rain stopped.

It has been a while since my last posting.
Overall it has turned out to be a good rainy season, especially for the farmers.
Last night in the interior we had some heavy rain.
Must say, I haven't heard anyone really complaining about it being dry lately.
Although truth be told we have been having some very hot days.
Again this morning the clouds are moving in. Looks like another beautiful rainy
day.
