Bon Dia
Well, it’s still raining on Bonaire. It’s been about 4 weeks of off and off and the on, well, it’s pretty wet. There are mushrooms growing in the kunuku. I’ve seen Christmas rains before in fact last year, my boyfriend reminded me we were huddled in the rain at Jibe City watching Bananaquits eating sugar in the rain. Last night, two yoga studios held full moon yoga practice. I spent the night online shopping. My new favorite online store is Plaj, who sells amazing Turkish towels. https://www.plajtowels.com/
To stay current with Bonaire news and info, please follow my blog. I recently posted about kids vacations. Bonaire is so family friendly.
Have a dushi day!

Bon Noche,
Bonaire experienced a significant rain event today. Everyone was either snuggling in bed or in the kitchen, baking cookies or making soup.
My favorite weather website for wind predictions, Windguru, nailed their forecast for today. In fact, they are predicting rain for the remainder of the week.
Have a super weekend, all. —

Rain continues. Thankfully, all is well on Bonaire. I received a weather alert Curacao, particularly Bandabou area are receiving torrential rains. I look forward to Marcus’s report as soon as he can get online. Here, the ground is saturated. I built my house in 2004 and have never seen this amount of rain since around that time. I am grateful for the landscape and love the feel of the raindrops on my face. Birds are singing, the sun’s peeking out and all is well.
Enclosed is a photo of a new spot on Bonaire, The Beach. It is a great spot for lunch, cocktails and some sun time. I’d love to welcome readers of Storm Carib to Bonaire. If you mention Storm Carib, I will extend a 5-10% discount on any new bookings for 2016- 2017.

Bon Tarde
Wow, what a wet day. There are massive puddles everywhere. More is expected tomorrow. I love it actually but feel bad for tourists this week. It’s hard to explain how important this rain is when someone saved all year for sun and fun. Awell, I can recall a few windsurf vacations where there was no wind and a few snowboard days planned with no snow. Hopefully they found some wonderful activities.
I am so excited to promote Wellness Vacations on island. It’s a growing movement. To that end, I am in the middle of a massive fitness “staycation”. I tried a few work outs around the island. Wow, we have great instructors and so many diverse options. Check out my team of workout buddies. Imagine seaside workouts like this? Check it out

Well, according to Windguru and Caribbean Weather, we are to expect some heavy
duty rains again here in the ABC islands. Friends in the northern part of the
island are already seeing heavy rain but down here in Belnem, nothing. Batten
down the hatches everyone it looks like we're having a repeat of last weekend
I have been promoting wellness and fitness vacations here on Bonaire. Recently,
I participated in the most beautiful sunset yoga, right on the pier at Sorobon
beach resort. Take a peek it was magical! If you are in need of some respite,
restorative services or need to find your center again, I'd welcome you here on
our beautiful serene island.

Bon Noche from Bonaire
We have had two glorious days, light winds, puffy clouds and moderate sunshine. There have some spotty showers but nothing compared to days past. Wind guru is predicting some heavy rains to return week’s end so I am catching up on yard work and laundry. Limbi Limbi’s (fleas), black flies and mossies make it hard to enjoy outside. Tonight, the government drove around spraying for the mossies. God knows what they are using. It stunk to high h%$$.
There is a bit of a swell in the sea. This morning, there were tons of small jellyfish in the sea near Windsock. By mid day, they went back out to sea. Many properties are repairing their docks after the Matthew aftermath.
I am enjoying a semi-staycation, swimming a bit and working out twice a day. Check out my blog for news and island updates including some news on Wellness Vacations.
Have a restful and peaceful night

Good morning from Bonaire! The day started off pretty sunny but now, rumbling
thunder is heard in the distance and there's a little bit of drizzle. I looked
at a couple weather forecast, and all reflect rain for the next 10 days! I love
it but the tourists won't!

Wow, we're having more rain on Bonaire! This image is courtesy of Caribbean
weather! I had to do some roof repair last summer and fortunately, it's holding
up pretty good because there's no leakage in the house. The heavy rains are
pretty intense! I love it for the garden 💚

happy. In fact, there has been some flash flooding because the ground was so
hard and dry but now, everything is back to normal. Soon, we should see a riot

This is a short report to say, that the southern part of the island presently
is getting hammered with big surf and waves resulting in dock damage. I'm not
on location to give accurate information, but the photos and videos that I am
seeing on Facebook indicate down the road from my house things are pretty bad
so definitely people should be on the alert. I saw a video from an official
who said that everyone should be out of the water and away from the seaside. I
love reports from Aruba and Curaçao to see if they're experiencing the same
swell

Bon tarde
I have received some very cool videos and updates from weather watchers around the island today. Grey skies prevail. The swell is increasing as the day turns soon to night. Some folks are using sandbags and some are boarding up windows. I took some moderate action at my home, removing wind chimes and moving some patio furniture. Divi stopped inter island service this afternoon and will resume when safe to do so. It’s so strange to see storm warnings for the Columbia coast. This is a fascinating weather system. I truly hope Matthew spares some of the more fragile islands with limited infrastructure such as Haiti.

Bon Noche,
The sunset was lovely on island. Friends are boarding up their homes. This level of preparedness on Bonaire is highly unusual. Folks are scrambling for diesel for their generators. Power outages have occurred all day. I suspect internet will go off as well. The landscape is parched so I am certain, we will see some flash flooding. Be safe everyone!

Thanks everyone for the updates. What a great community. Speaking of which, please everyone, do what you can to support our page. Please consider making a donation to Storm Carib! I do each year and will on payday, this week !
It’s sunny and hot on dushi Bonaire. According to the tool on Storm Carib, tomorrow night will be rocking and rolling.
I am worried about the strong potential of this storm for islands such as Jamaica and Haiti. I won’t be all doom and gloom. Prepare and see what happens.

Bon Dia Bon Siman
Well, folks around are mentioning the name “Omar”. Yes, in 08 we had a visit by this weather system and it wrecked havoc on Bonaire. There was extensive damage to our beautiful coral gardens and many docks and waterfront properties were impacted. Folks down here are not accustomed to wind and big weather. We will start to batten down the hatches. Some nice rain is welcome. That’s all please.

Bon Tarde from Bonaire
Not much to report weather-wise. Dry weather prevails. The wind has ramped up. This is the second consecutive summer we have enjoyed super delightful wind in Aug. Windsurfers and kiters are enjoying some fabulous conditions. I continue to provide water for the donkeys and feed them as well. There is little green in the “kunuku” for this lovely wild creatures.
It also seems with some weather perculating in the tropics, some are seeing rain. I was wowed by the videos in SXM.
Be prepared. Sept. is usually our active month
Back to planning Wellness Vacations on Bonaire. Our first event in our initiative is Taste of Bonaire Wellness Edition, Nov. 19th. Vendors will spotlight healthy food, activities and restorative services.

Bon Tarde from the Dutch Caribbean
Wind’s back with a vengeance. No rain in sight. My windsurf clients are very happy. We typically don’t see this kind of wind in Aug. but the lack of tropical systems is likely the reason. Also, Sr. El Niño. I keep hearing predictions of a very rainy Oct. - Feb. One can hope.
Are any of the islands in the Eastern Caribbean seeing such drought?
I scored some delish guineps from Rose Inn today in Rincon. The Lora’s ate all of mine.
So excited to unveil Wellness Vacations on Bonaire soon. We have a myriad of incredible professionals in areas of restorative therapies and activities such as Reiki, Pilates, Body Balance, Reflexology and yoga. Stay tuned for details to come.

Bon Noche from the Dutch Caribbean
I was looking at old photos and saw a few from the early 2000’s at my house here on Bonaire. I cannot believe how much grass we used to have in our yard. For the past few years, I have not had to weed wack at all in fact I cannot even recall where my weed wacker is! The drought is serious. Our landscape is parched. In turn. My water bill has tripled as I rely on it to water the plants.
I hope El Niña brings some rain soon.
Here is a photo from Sorobon where I had a lovely 3 day “staycation”

Bon tarde,
Well, we decided to paint the roof today. Mind you, we have had hardly any rain for many months. Today, we’ve had intermittent sprinkles, mainly to the south. It’s not really amounting to anything but annoying all of us, trying to get the roof finished. I am painting it KLM blue again. I probably should have approached KLM to sponsor me given the fact my roof is the closest to the arrival runway :)

Bon Noche
The drought prevails on Bonaire. We had a brief period of rain that washed away some dust but the landscape remains parched. I put of a massive tub of water daily and it’s empty within hours. Our donkeys are suffering no doubt. I also noticed the goats are very thin. There is no vegetation for them to feed. Walking up Sera Largu I could not believe how dry the island is…there is absolutely no green in the “kunuku”….even the cactus is brown.

We need rain. There was a bit in January and two weeks ago, a drizzle. The landscape is parched. Enough is enough, Mother Nature. The sky has been grey and light winds prevail. A very light sprinkle lasted 5 seconds this afternoon. It seems as if Sahara Dust is pretty strong as well.
Crowds are light after King’s Day. Not much else to report. Send some rain our way….
