Just got back from a short trip across the island. Everything seems to be safe and ok. Rain started just after two o'clock in the afternoon. According to our local weather forecaster it's likkely that intermittent rain will continue for several hours. At 2:00PM Statia airport reported wind of 14kn from the east north-east.

While Danny brought us the 'enormous' amount of six mm rain at our place, Erika promises some more.
Local Statian goverment released this statement earlier on today:
In monitoring Tropical Storm Erika, The Office of Disaster Management met today and on behalf of the Chairman hereby informs that it has been decided that Government offices ( administrative offices) , work permitting will be closed on Thursday August 27th, 2015 and resumes normally on Friday the 28th.
All departments are responsible to ensure the safety and safe storage of their offices and its contents.
So once again all offices etc are closed tomorrow.

The local disaster committee just (21.00) announced on tv that all school boards on Statia are adviced to keep the schools closed on Monday.
Also, all local government offices will be closed on Monday. The hurricane shelter in the basement of the Seventh Day Adventist church will open on Sunday afternoon at 17.00 hour. Dutch Military has been asked for assistance.

The disaster committee hereby informs the general public of the developing tropic storm Danny. Currently registering wins of 50 mph and is projected to increase in intensity as it approaches the Islands chain. On the current path Danny is projected to be in our vicinity as a Tropical Storm by Monday 24th August 2015, all residence are advised to monitor the system over the course of the coming days in order to take timely action should this be advised. As we approach the most active part of our yearly hurricane season the general public is reminded to keep your property and neighborhoods clear of loose debris that could cause damage during a storm. Report any areas of concerns to the authority and stay tuned to local media for regular updates and developments regarding this system.
