Hello My Caribbean Folk!
Yesterday we experienced a flash flood/thunderstorm unlike before. I must admit, it was an unexpected event as I had gotten unaccustomed to late evening showers.
For 20 minutes the lightning and thunder was constant. I suppose, in my unqualified opinion, what we witnessed last evening in this part of the island was a microburst.
Looking out my window at times reminded me of hurrican Ivan. The rain came in sideways and my trees struggled to remain upright.
Usually my German Shepherds never miss an opportunity to play in the rain, but not yesterday! ! And who could blame them?! At times I felt like seeking refuge under the bed!! In an effort to escape the eardrum bursting claps of thunder.
Yet, I am still thankful for all the wonderful rain.
Stay safe.

Good evening my fellow weather watchers!
Since my last posting, the rains have changed the entire landscape.
Over the past three weeks, we have been experiencing some strong thunderstorms with intense rainfall.
If only I had followed my mind and taken a pic of my lawn before the rain started...talk about the difference a few days can make!
In what seems like a morning ritual, there was again a sudden downpour that lasted for about 15 minutes.
I dont think that there are many people on the island that can say that they are lacking rain, especially the farmers on the eastern and central part of the island.
I was able to get a photo of the approaching thunderstorm this morning before the rain started. Only because the thunder was so loud in announcing it's arrival.
Every night the air feels heavy and remains warm, so I'm not surprised that there are thunderstorms popping up in the early morning hours.
Until next time.

Hi All
It's been a while since I've reported, thankfully because there hasn't been
much to report!
The last week, in Cayman, has been on and off with heavy rains, which were
welcomed as our lil Island needed it.
The days have been scorching though, with little wind, asides from a "burst"
over the weekend which I suspect was due to Bertha passing north of us.
Just checked NOAA, and winds seem to have slowed down throughout the Caribbean
basin.
If there is more activity I'll be sure to report.
For now, those that are new to Cayman and surrounding areas www.stormcarib.com
is definitely your first port of call online as it provides real life, "as it's
happening" accounts from correspondents during hurricane season and throughout
the year. There are lots of informative pages too that the StormCarib creators
have made available. Lots of useful info i.e.

Check out the home page of StormCarib.com for more useful links.
Below are a few useful tracking links too!

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: jason azan Date: Mon, Jun 30, 2014 at 5:09 PM Subject: Weather Report From Grand Cayman
Good Afternoon To All!!
It has been a while since reporting on the weather here on the big island. What can I say?! Hot, hot and more hot!! with a whole lot of dry!
Today, the southwestern end of the island was soaked, washed and baptized in a downpour that lasted for about 45 minutes. A much welcome change. Today the thunder was loud enough to make one believe that the lightning was only a few feet above their head.
As I made my way back home, to the eastern interior, I was so sure that my yard was going to be a lake!! But, to my disappointment the rain was confined to the George Town area.
Everyone take care and stay safe!
