Bon Dia from the Dutch Caribbean We have had lovely balmy weather, off and on winds and some intermittent rain showers. It’s been lovely compared to the bitter cold in the northeast. Carnival is over and everyone’s back to business on island. I have had the pleasure of welcoming back some 15 time repeaters, the Long Island Posse and soon, the Annual Medical Windsurf Conference. Greetings from Bonaire The Christmas trades returned without fail. Yesterday, the skies were dark all day and torrential rains descended upon the island. We lost internet most of the day and power for 3 hours. On the water, windsurfers were on 4.5 meter sails flying around Lac Bay. Today, the winds returned but the sun is shining brightly. Happy Holidays from the Dutch Caribbean Winds have been light but I expect the Christmas trades to kick in soon. The island is bustling with holiday visitors. All is well. This is my favorite time of year, weather wise; sunny days and cool nights. Cool is relative in the Caribbean but still, it’s refreshing and lovely. I just spent a lovely albeit chilly weekend in Miami. Wow, when it’s cold there, phew. Take a look at my blog post about my stay at Metropolitan Como. I have been transiting through Bonaire to the Caribbean since 1987. It was time to stop a little longer. It’s time for a rain dance in Bonaire. The drought has gone on too long. We have some teasing drizzle on some areas of the island. Belnem, where I live, has seen little precipitation. My water bill is quite high as I am using government water to irrigate.
Some big news for our little island. Commencing tomorrow, Delta begins a weekly Friday – Friday airlift from Atlanta. Checking airfares from Boston, Baltimore and other east coast cities, I found fares around 600!! SUPER cheap. I hope to welcome some new windsurf and dive clients soon. Greetings from Bonaire Why do I dislike the name of the current storm? Hmm..I have a foreboding feeling about this one..stay alert, everyone. Weather in Bonaire remains sunny and nice with some spotty rain that does not amount to much. Dreaming of a return to my fav island, Bermuda. In ’13, I took mom to our favorite property, The Reefs for her 90th and my daughter’s 21st birthdays. I submitted a photo I shot for a contest and I am now a finalist. I am at the airport heading to curaçao for a short getaway and it's pouring
rain ! Looking towards my house in Belnem, I can see the sun shining brightly.
So strange!! We desperately need a good shower. Looking east towards the
Caribbean waiting to see what comes next !

Greetings from Bonaire There’s a tropical system looming nearby. Lucky Aruba got the brunt of the precipitation, here, nada! I drove north to Rincon Sunday and saw puddles about but truly, this island is parched. We need rain. My cistern is empty and I am now using government water to irrigate the plants. Winds continue to be strong as a result, dust is everywhere. I haven’t opened my windows in days to keep out the mess. I am leaving out water for the birds and bees and a few buckets for the goats that pass. Praying for rain.. Pasa bon dushi wikent! Greetings from the Dutch Caribbean The wicked winds continue making for stellar kitesurfing and windsurfing. My clients are delighted! Our landscape remains parched but we did have a spot of rain Wed. I worry about the wild donkeys but alas, they have survived many years on this island so I pray they are somehow ok.
The island is packed with holiday goers, mostly from The Netherlands. Speaking of which, flags remain at half mast in respect for the loss of those who perished on the Malaysia Air flight. Such a tragic and profound event.
Off to book some windsurf and Kite packages. Folks are already planning their 2015 holidays!

Bonaire needs rain. The landscape is parched. We have had crazy winds. Bonaire was under code yellow recently. Great for kiters and windsurfers 
My windsurf clients are already booking for 2015! Rampages of appreciation for their continued business. When time allows, I will be hiking the “kunuku” this month.
