Petit Valley, Diego Martin, Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. 2014 - 04 - 20th. Sun.
Happy Easter, People of Paradise
Definitely from tonight, Sunday night, the weather we've been having for the last two to three weeks will become more pronounced. That is rainfall will become more sustained and recurring. Sometimes a little over-bearing. Tonight I forecast will last definitely more than a day and a half, (less than three).
This is for Trinidad & Tobago. I haven't factored in the other islands.
Sea conditions have nothing to do with what T'dad & T'bgo is experiencing currently. This as we all know will improve over the coming months if not weeks.
Lastly I normally write Gert at gobeach when the season starts, but I include everybody this time and invite you to look at wind-shear over a) Eastern Caribbean b) Colombia c) Florida and Bahamas. Then look at sea temperatures. Qu./ Isn't there a common hazardous point?
The good news is I agree with even the skeptics that 'out-of-control' global warming is on the wane and with 'El Nino' almost normal conditions will apply this season. Thus predictable. But then again there is SAL (Sahara-Dust) or (Dry-Air). Going back to Gert whom I have alot to thank for, "It only takes one."
God bless

Dear People of Paradise,
Recently, (since my mom's passing), I did not have my vehicle. So my ability to see the coast and fishing depots and what I mean, the bigger birds, the migratory birds has gone caput.
The leaving of the scissors-tail (maybe swallow), back to the Northern Hemisphere, also signifies besides Spring, that 3 - 5 weeks after the rainy season is coming. Its leaving is normally accompanied by the first set of heavy showers, then a long dry period.
However there are other signs. One we know very well. The poui tree blossoming and decorating the dry hill slopes.
I can go on. But what we need to predict is not only Spring is here. But in 3 -5 weeks the rainy season will be here. (Even if it's a dry, humid one.) Attached is the South American weather coming north or The Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone rising above the equator to 10 Latitude.
God bless

2014 - 03 - 02nd. Sat. 08 : 05 a.m. T&T, W.I.
Caribbean Carnival !
Wweeelllllll ! Trini Carnival 2014 has reached 'Big Sunday'
Mr. Kill at from Grenada nearly won Soca Monarch. Usain Bolt left the 'Rolly Polly', and whine on a 'tall, thin thing'. [see attached]
Petrotrin Phase II won Panorama again. A 'naturally-born' stalwart of 'ex-tempo' (improviso (original out-of-season tourist) calypso) won in his category.
King (Desert Scorpion) and Queen (Desert Oasis/Mirage) of Masquerade as well as The Juniors,
were no surprise, if not creativity but sheer beauty.
By no means least, The Chutney King and Tassa
has not left their thrones. Tonight however may be a different story. (comedy?).
Weather-wise at 7:00 o'clock this morning 2nd. March, the temps. were 23 C. or 73 F. There are rough seas forecasted (8 - 9 ft.) two to three miles east of the east coast.
This all easily in the month that can be Easter.
God bless this Nation under a Groove.

It is my stellar but personal opinion,
that, 1) The depth, distance and google earth, mean a tsunami definitely less than one (01) foot high can be generated esp. in the coastal areas of Guadeloupe.
2) The tsunami process is moving outwards (north-east) towards shipping in the north-central Atlantic. 3) The problem is not the tsunami or panic word tsunami but the vigilance used to deal with the situation. SPECIALLY AFTERWARDS, when the effects of the hazard are HEIGHTENED.
4) It is not life-threatening if vigilance is observed, DON'T PANIC.

People of Paradise,
Nothing bad is going to happen in the near future. I write to keep the hurricane lanterns burning for comfort and safety as well.
1st. is that when there is partial blackout of some data, the first thing my daughter does is call me and say, "Dad, something bad is going to happen. You figured it out?" 2nd. from what data I have to work with
{Now get this clear, re: The southerliness of effects} The oncoming episodes of weather will be worse than the two just gone. 3rd. part of the blackout is I don't know what you all experienced
with the last two cold fronts.
Translated = Heavy Seas, Cold Nights, Drizzly conditions giving way to heavy rain. A 'wet' dry season.

It's a long time I have not disagreed with weather forecasts. (More than five months to be exact.)
The weather forecasters are saying seas will improve in 36 - 48 - 72 hrs. forecasts.
I don't think so.
Besides what is going on in Atlanta today. Atlanta's cold front is too close. The first one hasn't left as yet. (That is the side-effects we are experiencing now.)

In a few ways the totally fantastic weather we are having is going once again in a few ways is going to get worse after lunch. That is sea-swells will get increasingly higher and nights colder
with a persistent drizzly and 'damp' atmosphere. That's not bad, if your hotel has squash courts or a heated-pool in the basement. As an addendum, the Sahara Dust (SAL) is clearing.
How long it will clear for and what that means weather-wise, nobody knows. But it means something. Thought: 'the Mind', n. a beautiful servant, a dangerous master.

ISSUED AT:12:14PM
ROUGH SEAS CONTINUE ALONG EXPOSED COASTS OF
TRINIDAD & TOBAGO Observed buoy data and
reports reaching the Trinidad and Tobago
MeteorologicalService indicate that sea
conditions along the exposed coasts of Trinidad
and Tobagocontinue to be moderate to rough. Wave
heights are 2.5 to 3.0 metres along the
exposedcoastlines of Tobago in particular. This
is attributed to relatively strong winds in
thelower levels of the atmosphere. These strong
winds are currently agitating surfaces of
theAtlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea.
Numeerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models
forecast similar conditions for at least thenext
48 to 72 hours with wave heights in open waters
reaching 2.5 to 3.0 metres near-shore for both
islands but occasionally reaching in excess of
3.0 metres offshore for thenortheast exposed
coasts of Tobago in particular. As such rough
seas will persist. Seas inopen waters of Trinidad
and Tobago, particularly the northeast coasts of
Tobago, willcontinue to be affected for at least
the next 48 to 72 hours. Although wave heights
insheltered areas are below 1.0 metre, seas can
become choppy at times. Additionally,conditions
may become aggravated during high tides.
Citizens, especially those residing along coastal
areas are advised to be on the alert forabove
normal sea conditions. All necessary measures
MUST be taken to preserve life andproperty.
SMALL CRAFT OPERATORS, SEA BATHERS AND ALL OTHER
MARINEINTERESTS ARE ASKED TO EXERCISE EXTREME

- TT Met Office officially declares start of dry season

TTMET officially declares the Start of the Local Dry Season for 2014
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Services (TTMET) has issued an official release recording Tuesday 7th January
2014 as the start of the Local Dry Season for 2014. The ODPM joins
TTMET in observing that the onset of the dry season is particularly
important to several sectors including water resources, agriculture,
forestry, tourism and the general public. TTMET reminds members of the
public should note that the start of the dry season seldom begins with
abrupt dry conditions but is more often based on the type of rain
bearing systems which are different from those of the local wet season.
This information is based on reliable scientific understanding and
criteria which determine that the region is in a relatively drier state.
TTMET
advises that usually the local dry season is not devoid of rainfall,
rather the rainfall when it occurs is more often than not, less in
amount than during the wet season, and is produced by different rain
bearing systems from those during the local wet season. The local dry
season is usually characterized by a general decrease in rainfall
potential, with fair weather for the most part, but there will still be
episodes of rain showers some of which can still be moderate to heavy.
Since these conditions are conducive to bush and grass fires citizens
are advised to engage in the following activities in preparation for the
season:
Before a fire event occurs: · Obtain a fire extinguisher and ENSURE that each family member knows how to use it. · CHECK regularly for faulty electrical wiring and repair if necessary
· TEACH children to REFRAIN from playing with matches of other flammable material · ENSURE that keys for burglar proofs on doors and windows are readily accessible to all members of the household.
· DO NOT KEEP heat generating appliances plugged in or unattended. · TURN OFF gas from cooking tanks when not in use and
· CHECK regularly for leaks · HAVE a fire evacuation plan and practice it with your family.
During a fire: · LEAVE the building immediately, if a fire is too big to extinguish · CONTACT the local fire station in your area to report the fire.
· STOP, DROP and ROLL. DO NOT RUN, (if your clothes are on fire) · COVER your nose and mouth with a small cloth and
· STAY LOW to the ground until you exit the building, if there is smoke. After a fire: · DO NOT re-enter the building until the local fire authority says it is safe to do so, even though the fire is extinguished.
· CHECK for structural damage to your home and REPAIR immediately. Also, we ask that citizens visit the ODPM’s website at http://www.odpm.gov.tt
for
information on fire prevention and mitigation strategies for the dry
season. Please be reminded to contact Fire Services at 990, Forestry
Division at 622-3217 / 662-5775 / 643-9595 / 657-7256 or ODPM’s Customer
Call Centre at 511 if you are heavily impacted by a fire.

ROUGH SEA CONDITIONS FORECAST TO AFFECT TOBAGO AND TRINIDAD AT THE WEEKEND THE Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (T&T Met) is warning that sea conditions will become rough tomorrow and Sunday. Date: Wednesday 11th of December 2013
ISSUED AT:02:04PM
Over the past few hours parts of Trinidad and to a
lesser extent Tobago have been experiencing
cloudy/overcast conditions with periods of rain
and showers, some of which have been moderate to
heavy at times. This rainfall activity is
associated with the passage of a low-level trough
and moisture surge encountering favourable
conditions in the upper levels of the atmosphere.
Numerical Weather Prediction Models (NWP) forecast
rainfall activity associated with this system to
continue to affect Trinidad and to a lesser
extent Tobago. Periods of rain and showers are
forecast for this evening into tonight, but
cloudy conditions are expected to continue into
tomorrow morning, 12th December 2013.
Localized street and flash flooding may occur in
areas experiencing prolonged rainfall or heavy
showers. Given the expected conditions and the
already saturated soil, rivers of moderate
carrying capacity can become overwhelmed and
there is the possibility of landslides/landslips.
Citizens are therefore advised to be vigilant and
cautious as they conduct their activities and to
pay attention to the media or visit our website
at www.metoffice.gov.tt/forecast for daily
weather updates at 6am, 10am, 3pm and 6pm.
We wish to underscore that at this time Trinidad
and Tobago is not under any Tropical Storm
threat, Watch or Warning.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service
will continue to closely monitor this system and
will issue another bulletin if the situation
warrants.

Christmas Greetings, People of Paradise,
Last Chance to Book (Early)
Can you believe that we are in Christmas time, 13 years into the new millenium? Since 14 in 2014 is an omen of romance and partnership, this Carnival should be a very interesting and involved one. For my part I was born in the 50's in the last century, so any romance will be with the iguana in the fruit trees and other pets and domestic (wild) life.
Low-key in other words.
Carnival 2014 - Trinidad & Tobago
Next three to four days, weather -wise will be:
High Seas (> 8' ft.), 15 - 25 knot Winds, and more than one ( less than 20 mins.) heavy rainfall a day.
This is not BAD, it's typical weather. But beware, if you bat outside your crease, you will get stumped or lose your wicket.
So, once again, exercise caution this winter season for North. And summer season for South.
God bless, all of us who have benefitted from a freedom-fighter called Nelson Mandela,
This peace-maker has blessed all of us, May He rest in Peace, ..., Amen.

Tis the season of Advent, People of Paradise
A time for ploughing and furrowing. A time for weeding and sowing. A time of draining, irrigating and fertilizing.
because, Tis the end of Harvest Time and Storing time. and Harvest Time is also Seed-Picking and -Planting Time.
All of the above, a reality by the way, is the actual meaning of the word 'Culture' !
Isn't the West Indies, full of culture?
On the weather - front; we say, "Good Riddance, to the Hurricane Season. Thank God! Alleluia, Alleluia Amen!"
There is a pattern over The Southern, Lesser Antilles that in one or two cases will be responsible for more than street-flooding. Exercise the rudimentary caution.
May we all restore our grain, grit, seed and culture in this festive season.

Hi to all those loyal readers on stormcarib. Its been a while since my last post. Hope everyone is safe and well. Well here in Trinidad we are still have very strong showers of rain. Even though the hurricane season is coming to a close we should still keep our eyes open. During the past few days we have had some intense showers. These showers are associated with the ITCZ.
To be honest I love the rain and I prefer the rain to fall through out the year. I am not a fan of those extreme dry seasons. I like to see a little rain through out those dry months. Now you all know what are one of my wishes for Christmas. ^_^

Early Christmas Greetings, People of Paradise,
In 04 -24 hrs. a feeder band will form over the Lesser Antilles. (Depending on where you are.)
This will feed the Low-Pressure system that knocked our two approaching waves to Davy Jones Locker. I suspected it would become a tropical system because what caused it is three areas of jet-stream moisture.
If (and only if), it makes landfall we would be talking about it for a while. However it will not make landfall anywhere far less us.
Just when I was bout to hang up lights on the tree facing the road for Christmas a neighbour passed away.

People of Paradise, Remember: Poppy Day, (today) & Memorial Day, (tomorrow),
My definition of a hero is in one word, ..., SOLDIER.
I wanted to post tomorrow but decided to post tonight instead.
Weather - wise, we have nothing to be afraid of. For within 36 hours wind-shear will be flowing from the Colombia-Venezuela border,
- thru The Lesser Antilles - towards, mid-centre north Atlantic.
Firstly, this TW blob or Trough, is a South American phenomenon, for reasons like; time of year, atlantic high-pressure, et al.
Secondly, as usual it breaks up the cyclonic and makes it convective and milder. Thirdly however, one must be aware that not only now in the storm season but due to climate change and experience of last winter,
these south-american blobs will have; wind, rain and sea - swells. One can almost say cyclonic within convective or a LPS, 'can form anywhere - anytime'. I add, 'of any size'.
The fact that it is performing (for the second time), like this means the hurricane season is virtually over. However, I will be bold as usual and say, "Global warming isn't".
Quickly, three other things; 1) On my part, no pics - no drama over 'Haiyan' just give till it hurts. 2) I endorse the reality forecasts, weather media are giving out. It is truly welcome,
and saves lifes.
Lastly, may the souls of all deceased veterans rest in peace.

Public Advisory: Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone over Trinidad and Tobago - 10th November, 2013 – 9:30 am
November 10, 2013 at 9:59am Public Advisory Sunday 10th November, 2013 – 9:30 am
TTMET advises citizens to be vigilant due to presence of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone over Trinidad and Tobago.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service
has issued a bulletin at 8:15 am stating that the periods of rain and
showers Trinidad and Tobago has been experiencing over the past few
hours is due to a moist and unstable environment associated with the
presence of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). TTMET indicates
that cloudy to overcast conditions with periods of rain and/or showers,
some of which may be heavy and thundery are forecast for the next 6-12 hours.
Rainfall accumulations of 20 – 30 millimetres or greater in some
locations can be expected with gradual improvement in conditions
tonight. Gusty winds will accompany moderate, occasionally heavy
rainfall and the possibility of landslides/landslips and localized
street/flash flooding may occur in the vicinity of heavy downpours.
Noting the amount of rainfall that has occurred, and the forecast for
the continuation of this rainfall activity, rivers of moderate carrying
capacity may become overwhelmed.
Citizens are advised
to be vigilant and cautious as they conduct their activities. The ODPM,
as the lead coordinator of emergency management will continue to monitor
this event and has put the first responder agencies on alert so that
immediate assistance can be rendered if any adverse impact occurs.
Please continue to monitor TV/radio reports, the ODPM’s social media:
Facebook/Twitter and ODPM website for official updates and more
preparedness information. Also pay attention to weather forecasts issued
by the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service at 6 am, 10 am, 3 pm
and 6 pm at www.metoffice.gov.tt
.
If citizens have been affected by this inclement weather, they should contact our Customer Care Centre at 511.
Consequently, we continue to underscore the following:-
- After heavy rainfall, stay inside until water levels have subsided and it is safe to venture outside.
- Do not walk / drive through flood waters.
- Be cautious when walking /driving along hillsides or landslide prone areas.

Trinidad and Tobago Good day to all readers of StormCarib. Today has been a wet and wild day. It seems like the tropical wave will continue to give us here in Trinidad and Tobago showery conditions and a breezy day. It seems that this rain will continue to fall for a couple of days. Hope no one will get flooded out. This rain began in the early hours of the morning as I turned on my bed to hair the rain beating heavily on my roof. Michael Abouhamad

P/Vly, D'go M'rtn, T&T, W.I. I for one, and I guess, nobody, knows what tomorrow will bring.
All we can attest to: is that it's Christmas Season, and we know that we know nothing. Apart from libations, parang, fiesta, church, parties, bars, restaurants, sea-sides (during day-light hours), and horrendous traffic. It will be really stupid to say;
Make sure your ID and precious papers are kept in plastic somewhere handy and safe, Make sure you update yourself and weaker members of inclement weather and emergency numbers, precautions (like water & prescription medicine), shelters
Make sure you have back-up communication facilities Make sure 1) You don't panic. 2) Afterwards stay put, (for several mortal reasons), and Lastly, the point to make is: Don't add to the hazard or danger, ...!!!!!
Who will have thought of that? Back to the weather, tonight is going to be like it is now, Hot, Hot, HOT! Then I guess it's every bodies guess? My take, or guess is some moist breeze will replace the heat and pressure
at some point, like early morning, this may or may not bring convective or another type of rain. Anyway midday will have rain, heavy rain as usual. (We just had elections, so i don't want to say flooding as usual).
Giving way to new-born cyclonic activity and speed it should not last the normal 4 - 5 days, but finish quickly in 2 1/2 days when we can go back to paradise picnicking By the way I agree with every single weather media report, ... (This time, really, good job!)
May God bless us in all we do for the Good of All Things.

People of Paradise,
The weather is totally unpredictable, add to that global warming. That's why I do what I do. I have good news even though I am forecasting IMPACT CLIMAX in 36 hrs.
It will not be cyclonic (for most of us).
It's the wind-shear. Totally unpredictable and not always beneficial. It's breaking up 98L into convective precipitation.
BUT: Making it wider, And more southerly in the initial stages.
This stupid, morbid post doesn't stop there. It has a tail all the way to Africa.
Expect a repeat of our last Impact.

We experienced a quake tonight at about 10,10. Unconfirmed reports put it at 6.0 - 6.2 on the Richter scale. It seemed to last quite a while but again, reports say that it lasted 15 - 20 seconds. We shall hear the official statistics tomorrow. Even after the initial shake, a spoon hanging on a hook in my kitchen continued to move for at least another minute. Facebook accounts show that the earthquake was felt all over Trinidad, I haven't heard anything about Tobago yet. The quake was also felt in Guyana. I believe that eastern Venezuela also felt it.

Trinidad and Tobago 7:00pm
Good night to all readers here at StormCarib. There has been allot of rain here in the Caribbean these few days. Yesterday on the 5/10/13 was noted to be very heavy. The rains began at 12noon yesterday with thunder and lightening which knocked out the power in my community. These rains continued for a few hours and I noted that there was some flash flooding in allot of areas in Trinidad.
I made my way to work and upon reaching to work I heard that there was heavy in other islands of the Caribbean as well. These showers caused a disruption to one of LIAT's flight from St Vincent to Trinidad. While sitting with some of the passengers last night they showed me some of the pictures which showed heavy flooding at the airport in St Vincent.
Looking at the satellite it seems like the rainy season wants to go out with a bang. There is a tropical wave now off the coast of Africa that has a 10% chance to develop into a tropical storm. We here in the Caribbean need to keep our eyes on this one.

Pt./Vly, D'go M'rtn, 02:00 a.m. Good Day, Good Everything, People of Paradise, For us it is not a problem but,
The stalling of these two tropical wave blobs is not a good sign. Too much deja vu. Watson, "It is my speculation that it can't pass the wind - shear between Puerto Rico and Guadeloupe. So it is re-grouping more south ( off St. Vincent (a this year development) ) and take a more westerly than north west or north track." All in the 'work' of speculation dear watson. Definitely South America and Tobago and Toco are in this year's season.
In terms of of 'harm' (effects), there should be none. Nay, the street-flooding. God bless

Trinidad and Tobago 11:15am Good Morning to all. Well its that favorite time of the week for some. Its Saturday Morning. Hope you all are enjoy the little sunshine that we are having now. Because this sunshine will not last the entire day. Later on today we are expecting the normal daytime shower through out Trinidad and Tobago with the isolated thunder shower. So still if you are heading out this weekend its not a bad idea to place a small umbrella in your bag. Even though this hurricane season has been really slow this year its not over yet. Looking at the satellite imagery we see that the African Dust has broken up and there is a tropical wave now coming off the coast of Africa with a 10% chance of becoming a Tropical Cyclone. We should keep our eyes on it as it drifts slowly Westward. You all have a great day today in what ever you all do. :) Regards, Stephen Abouhamad

My dear People of Paradise,
I can understand the need ) not to panic ) continue commerce ) not have available info. But ! Can't computer models have fail-safe buttons that allow reality to over-ride the computer models.
Clearly, while not an eye, 'Gabrielle' , Yes , 'Gabrielle' has a center. Further within hours, it will IMPACT ! That, by any under-estimation, is a life or death situation.
So; Let's deal with it, ....
1) Worst-case scenario and work your way up! 2) Get you modules or relief agencies in place with equipment. (Hence the need for reality).
2) (b) Set up reliable communications. 3) Allay fears and provide preventative measures.
This should be done 36 - 48 hours before-hand.
Marketing, Pride or Rivalry has no place in more than one inch (1' in.) of rain and winds over 18 mph. for over 3 mins.
May God bless us, for as my daughter keeps saying "It could be worse."

The humidity is high and a cold wind is blowing. The trees are swaying in the wind as thunder could be heard in the distance.A quick glance at the Doppler radar reveals an advancing cloud mass from the south moving to the north east. The village of Cedros would have experienced high winds that may lift roofs off.

Sorry (for the tone), (but I specialize in Emergency Work and Trauma).
1) It is big and started a feeder-system. 2) It has removed the Dry (SAL) Air. 3) Special Graphics shows what's behind.
4) There is heavy moisture on the ground and above.
Caution: "Be wary of The Tail".
We continue to pray, Dear Lord!

Trinidad and Tobago 11:50am A pleasant good day to everyone that reads StormCarib. It has been a while I have not made a post but I am doing so at the present moment to inform you that some dangerous looking clouds are gathering over Port of Spain. It seems like there will be heavy rain by 2pm this afternoon. Hope everyone will be fine and happy Independence to the people of Trinidad and Tobago. God Bless, Michael Abouhamad.

Dear people of paradise,
We in Trinidad and even though I don't live Tobago, Tobago are having some unpredictable and indescribable weather. (Let's call it 21st. Century Blobs).
Eg. Yesterday there was serious flood in Central T'dad and a report of what we call a 'twister'. The rest of T'dad was dry. Last week-end The Great (Power-Boat) Race took place, in lovely weather. As the race finished Diego Martin had street flooding. The week-end before Port of Spain and Tobago (no where else) had heavy, heavy showers.
The reason I said (more, ....) the pundits all say that's touch-down time for the next 'blob'. The east of the blob is the worst so the tail is what to watch.
May god bless us in this unpredictable predilection,
Your bro. Ian

Morning all
Looks like an area of disturbed weather caused by the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone over the Windward Islands is still causing some heavy showers and thunderstorms throughout the day here on Tobago. The Met Office says the weather will affect the north and north east of Trinidad and Tobago. Should clear later. There are warnings of gusty winds, street and flash flooding may occur in heavy showers and thundershowers.
Have a good day all and don't forget your umbrellas.
Will update you as and when Katy

People of Paradise,
We have a lot to thank God for, ...!
While nobody wants reports that are negative. And I have such reports this week-end. All in all, the performance of Erin, 92L and the-present Tropical Wave is by any definitions benign. We can give thanks to The Almighty by donating to a suitable charity!
I am posting positive pics. (Once again I have otherwise, but will not.)
To complete my post, the estimation of my cadre is that;
Contrary to what we predicted it did not finish today. As a matter of fact the high possibility of it getting worse exists.
God bless.

- Rain!

Good afternoon all - been experiencing some rain in Tobago this morning. There is some standing water on roads. Here's the latest from the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service. The T and T Met Service has indicated that
over the past few hours, parts of Trinidad, particularly the southern
and eastern areas have been experiencing cloudy conditions with moderate
to heavy showers and thundershowers. This is due to a surge in moisture
associated with the approach of a tropical wave. Tobago is experiencing
fair to partly cloudy conditions, but is under the same moist unstable
environment. Cloudy to overcast conditions with moderate
to heavy showers and thundershowers will continue over Trinidad during
the next 2-3 hours before becoming settled by late evening. Cloudy
conditions are expected to again increase for both Trinidad and Tobago
by late night as the Tropical Wave passes overnight with moderate to
heavy showers and thundershowers occurring. This will
continue for 12-18 hours before becoming settled by the evening of
August 18th. Gusty winds will accompany moderate and heavy rainfall and
the possibility of landslips/landslides and localized street/flash
flooding may occur in the vicinity of heavy downpours. Noting the amount
of rainfall expected and the forecast for the continuation of this
rainfall activity, rivers of moderate carrying capacity may become
bankfull and possibly overtop. WE WISH TO UNDERSCORE THAT AT THIS TIME TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO IS NOT UNDER ANY TROPICAL STORM THREAT, WATCH OR WARNING Enjoy your afternoon all Katy

Morning all,
Rain continues to fall here in Tobago as the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues to pass over Trinidad and Tobago. There is lots of standing water everywhere.
The latest from the T and T Met Office below:
Over the past few hours Trinidad and to a lesser extent Tobago, have
been experiencing periods of rain and showers, some of which have been
moderate to heavy and thundery. This rainfall activity is due to the
presence the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) enhanced by a favourable upper level environment.
Intermittent rain and/or showers, some heavy and/or thundery, is
forecast. The possibility of localized street and
flash flooding as well as gusty winds is likely in moderate to heavy
showers or thundershowers. Noting the amount of rainfall that has
occurred, and the forecast for the continuation of this rainfall
activity, rivers of moderate carrying capacity can become overwhelmed.
Citizens are advised to be vigilant and cautious as they conduct their
activities and should adopt measures which would preserve life and
property. WE WISH TO UNDERSCORE THAT AT THIS TIME TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO IS NOT UNDER ANY TROPICAL STORM THREAT, WATCH OR WARNING.
On a different note - Store Bay Marine Services has relocated. We've moved 200 yards up Pigeon Point Road. Come and see us at our new location - there's always plenty of beer in the fridge!
Have a good day all

(For the next two weeks my posts will not be too tourists - oriented, ....)
Trinidad at least Diego Martin and Port of Spain had two maybe three heavy showers lasting near 20 mins. each of heavy, heavy precipitation. (negligible wind - maps say no bad seas).
Of course, yours truly is stepping out his crease as usual and say 1) it may get worse, as the first wave dealt with the dust and a tropical depression can form anywhere anytime after that. 2) Due to the intensity and based on history what the Trinidad triangle is experiencing now is going to be significant later, .....
For the modules; I would hazard a calculated guess to prepare for damage control, ....
For my part I enjoyed the scarcity of traffic and driving in the rain!

The rains are coming to resuscitate our agriculture. (less than 2" ins.) Two days ago there was no dry air where the wave is now. Now there's dust. So after this wave passes with its refreshments, look out and stay tuned, .... It has a 'dust & decoy' atmosphere about it???
I didn't want to say it particularly concerns north of Guadeloupe so I will let [NHC] say it:

Weather - wise, tomorrow is the perfect day for the beach and cricket. So too, the next three days, ..., will be perfect summer days of vacation.

Fair weather, Fine Friends, Fear-Weather, (we pray),
I would like to sympathize with the victims of the possible tornado in Puerto Rico. (A (LPS) low-pressure-system can develop anywhere and at any time) This seems to be a case of the Trinidad scenario for two years being more northerly this season. God's Speed!
'Dissipated' TS, TD, TW, 'Dorian' is by the time of writing;
60 W. Longitude and axis-centre 10 N. Latitude !!! that means it dipped un-appreciably.
the span from north-east to south-west is five (05) degrees latitude. This is a guess (to prepare modules): There will be some sort of direct impact. Winds will be for less than five minute intervals 23 mph. gusting to no more than 35 mph.
At localized points of impact rainfall will be no more than 2 1/4 inches.
If it follows the t'dad & t'bgo pattern, storm surge will not be a problem but closed systems of wind circulation within dorian can give roofs a problem.
Always remember, now that the North Pole is a lake, whatever loss you endure, Hurricanes restore 'cold and moisture' to Northern Latitudes.
God Bless and I'm praying for you

Happy Nelson Mandela (Birth) Day, People of Paradise,
I am wondering why there is a Tropical Wave scare of precipitation then I have stood alone and said the worst has not passed? The real one is behind waiting for the dust to clear! While the first one left the soil wet and people passive.
If you look at 40 - 42 W. Longitude you will see a scenario that happened twice for the season before. And that does not include the times around Florida and the Bahamas. A LPS (low-pressure-system) can develop anywhere, any time. [read: Grenada]
Anyway, this time i'm not alone.
While the research says 72hrs. ATA (time of arrival). The Trinidad Triangle can expect continued showers and heavier night-time thunder showers and then eventually hazardous precipitation in 48hrs. This is just my take for now?
The rest of The Lesser Antilles should be sunny for 72hrs.
God Bless

Well for everyone here in Trinidad and Tobago it seems that the storm is moving West North West. This means that it is moving away from our islands. But looking at the maps we are expected to get some rain from this system. Please be alert! Showers may be heavy with gusty winds and flash flooding. Right now i am wondering how this system will affect the flights throughout the Caribbean as i work in the airline industry. :( You all have a safe night and be careful on the roads people. If it keeps moving west as it is, it should go below Tobago but most of the models have it tracking clearly to the north of us, with the exception of the CLP5 model which shows it tracking just slightly north of us and tracking through Grenada.
It is still early days but worth keeping an eye on

Good and Shiny Everything, People of paradise,
In Trinidad, (Tobago is different), not much is made of - Vacation Tourists - and another group called 'yachties'. Except maybe at night-clubs and restaurants and transport.
That is because we have: a) Carnival tourism b) Business tourism c) Holiday tourism d) Sports (and Cultural exchange) tourism e) eco-tourism, .... Tobago as I said is different and is actively considered as Robinson Crusoe Island.
Attached are a few pictures that I don't normally post of vacationing - in - t'dad.
Note: I agree with Haiti that what was Part X for the Lesser Antilles was Part XI for them. I noticed it before when I wrote about Belize.
Recall: Jeff Masters repeats that systems now are less wind-threatening and don't necessarily follow a tight cyclonic pattern. Storm surge and excessive rainfall and overflowing rivers are the new problem from the new widely-scattered systems.
Next one is a little over 72 hrs. away. Enjoy life blissfully in the meantime, ....
God bless

2013 - 06 - 22nd Sat. 19:15 (7:15) p.m.
Thank God! We have been lucky this far.
Today did some heavy drainage work issues, learnt from lessons of the last deluge, last year. Heading to a night spot and try to get tropically romantic under the full-moon. However all the while I was accompanied by a black not grey cloud. Then what do you know, it drizzled. It hasn't rained for over 36 hrs. Longer than that in some places. The point: No Full- Moon! (honeymoon or any type of moon :)
IF YOU haven't started on a daily business to PREPARE, ..... Then Part VIII will teach you some home-work tips.
Part VII (early tomorrow morning starting), will leave enough moisture to make a drizzle directly afterwards life-threatening. And that's what Part VIII will do (and it already has a little spin), coming right after!!!
But why write negatively to seasoned campaigners like us.
Because 'My' projected path is not like the first six. But direct! (Lesser Antilles). Last minute preparation is called panic? It has to be done on a daily basis, .....
God bless

Trinidad and Tobago 16/6/13 5:10 pm Good Afternoon to all members of StormCarib. Well here in Trinidad we had great weather conditions. This morning here in San Juan we had a little shower to start off the day before 6am. This to me was a little blessing in store for father's day. Other than that little shower we had wonderful conditions. Sunny weather for everyone to be out doors or just to stay home to relax on this Sunday. Hope all you fathers take advantage of this weather. Looking at tonight's weather we see Trinidad and most of the Caribbean will be under settle conditions with a slim chance of a night time shower. :) Happy Father's Day to all. ^_^ Stephen Abouhamad

- On-and-off rain in San Fernando

Here in San Fernando, the bright and sunny start to our day was just a teaser - it has rained, sometimes very heavily - all through the day, with dull, dry patches between the showers. We have just had a brief shower but I suspect that there is a lot of rain in store for us tonight. The satellite picture seems to bear me out on that. Oddly enough, the north east (Toco) has not experienced this type of weather today at all. It has been dry and sunny and lots of people were at the beaches along that coastline today. I am told that Balandra was particularly lovely for swimming this afternoon.

Hi folks,
I really was hoping not to count this year. However, seeing our fellow-storm-chasers killed by a tornado in USA. one has to keep the candle burning. Lord have pity on us!
Part IV is at a really very delicate stage at 40 W. It is delicate for a lot of reasons. Then after the actual Part IV, it is the signal of what the others will do? Seeing that it falls Saturday night maybe even Friday afternoon, we will give our take;
Winds 25 - 35 mph (but highly localised and scattered). Definite street flooding. 3 - 7 ft. Swells. To whom much is given, much is asked? God bless

Information Bulletin from the T and T Met Office being issued at this time..... SHOWERS AND THUNDERSHOWERS OVER TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO FOR THE NEXT 4 - 6 HOURS
Rainfall activity over Trinidad and particularly Tobago, associated
with the passage of a Tropical Wave, is expected to sharpened over the
next 4 - 6 hours in the form of moderate, and at times heavy, showers
and thundershowers. Given recent rainfall events and the small
time frames between events, moderate and possibly severe episodes of
street/flash flooding as well as landslips/landslides are highly likely
especially along the hills of the Northern Range, Trinidad and the Main
Ridge of Tobago. Rivers of moderate carrying capacities may become
inundated. Rainfall accumulations of between 25 - 40
millimeters and gusty winds in excess of 45 km/hr are possible from this
anticipated event. Citizens are advised to be vigilant and cautious as they conduct their activities. WE WISH TO UNDERSCORE THAT AT THIS TIME TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO IS NOT UNDER ANY TROPICAL STORM THREAT, WATCH OR WARNING.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Services is closely monitoring
this weather situation and will issue another bulletin if the situation
warrants.
Have a good afternoon all Katy

Information Bulletin Being Issued at this time...... CONTINUED RAINFALL OVER TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
Over the past two days, both Trinidad and Tobago have been experiencing
periods of rain and showers, some of which have been moderate to heavy
and at times thundery. This rainfall activity is due to the presence of a
low-level trough and favorable upper-level winds. Intermittent rain and showers, some heavy and thundery, are forecast to continue for the remainder of the day.
Over the last 24 - 36 hours stations at Piarco and Crown-Point have
each recorded in excess of 30mm of rain. Noting this amount of rainfall,
and additional accumulations of 15 - 20mm forecasted for today, there
is a high possibility that major rivers could become inundated.
Moderate, and possibly severe, cases of street and flash flooding as
well as landslides/landslips are likely in the vicinity of prolonged
rainfall or heavy downpours. Gusty winds in excess of 45 km/hr at times
are also likely.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service is closely monitoring
this weather situation and will issue another bulletin if the situation
warrants.
Have a good day all! Katy

Well Folks,
We don't know what got lost in the wire? But from quarter to seven yesterday, Saturday morning, we had occasional heavy rain generally.
That was before what was described as a tropical wave earlier reached our southern shores (instant). For some reason it's no longer described as a tropical wave, There are hardly any satellite or hard evidence to corroborate.
Nobody, we mean nobody is aware that the blob has reached. God bless

- Rainy Season has arrived!
|
- From: Katy Young <katy at sbms.co.tt>
- Date: Mon, 20 May 2013 13:19:56 -0400
|
Official Statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Office: 2013 Rainy Season is here The
arrival of the first rain-producing Tropical Wave for 2013 last night
(Sunday, 19 May, 2013) heralds the beginning of the 2013 rainy season.
Given our weather-related history it has occurred just on time. This
signals for Trinidad and Tobago a consistent intervention of Tropical
Waves and the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) into our weather
over the next seven (7) months. In essence, expect to see more episodes
of rain in the coming months than the daily bouts of sunshine we have
been experiencing.
Preliminary analysis indicates this
year's rainy season should be very productive - more so than is usual.
Over the years, the months of June, July and August have been coincident
with the period our country has received the most amount of rainfall
with July in particular standing above the others. There is no reason to
believe that the 2013 rainy season will play out otherwise. At
present, the quick succession of Tropical Waves is not firmly
established. So, there may be a reprieve following the passage of this
wave. The stay, however, will be short-lived especially with the
expected start of the Tropical Atlantic Hurricane Season on 01 June,
2013. This year the season is forecast to be a very active one with the
formation of 18 named Storms, 9 Hurricanes and 4 Major Hurricanes
(Categories 3 and above). Historically, the averages for named Storms,
Hurricanes and Major Hurricanes are 12, 7 and 2 respectively. Therefore, the overall picture weather-wise calls for a prepared public. The
Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service will continue to do its part
in terms of early warning. In this regard, pay attention to the daily
weather forecasts and updates. These are released 6:00am, 10:00am,
3:00pm and 6:00pm. Each forecast updates the previous. For cases of expected moderate to severe weather impacts, Information or Severe Weather Bulletins will be released accordingly. Riverine
Flood Bulletins will be issued whenever river levels, given current and
expected rainfall, threaten to defeat maximum carrying capacities. Finally,
Tropical Storm/Hurricane Watch/Warnings will be issued whenever the
effects of these systems are expected to be felt by this country in
36/48 hours. Enjoy your day all Katy

2013 - 05 - 17th. Fri.
T'dad & T'bgo, W.I. People of Paradise, What seems to be the first potential to become a depression after exiting the Caribbean Basin, should affect the islands south of St. Lucia as early as this morning. Definitely in 16 - 24 hrs. some hazardous weather that has the potential to last 3 days will impact the Lesser Antilles.
One can note that the word 'Hazard' or 'Hazardous', does not affect you if, even after impact, you don't allow 'it' to affect you! One can do this by praying, planning, preparing and procuring the necessities for survival. An on-going recurrence, even on a normal day (without paranoia).
By the way, this leads me to offer that mangoes are the 'best' colon cleansers and that fruit salad with mangoes will help even a chocolate lover lose weight. (tee hee).(And talk about clear skin!!).
A little birdie tells me we'll all be writing again soon, ....

2013 - 05 - 08th. Wed.
Petit Val'y, D'go Martin, T'dad & T'bgo, W.I. Happy Mother's Day (in advance), People of Paradise,
We would like to thank, Almighty God, that when the first system to pull north of the equator and the ITCZ skirted the north coast of South America, all T'dad & T'bgo had were isolated drizzles. Overcast and even white-out but Localized drizzles.
The rest, after breaking wind-shear off Colombia is out of our purview. But we will add three comments. Our closeness to Belize and its concerns can be under-played as Trinidadians (at UWI / Cricket / Sports / Dialect and Accent / Closeness to Spanish-speaking neighbours / etc.) Not to mention those in oil and industrial-training.
Sympathy to our Dutch neighbours who experienced a violent loss. Wind-shear has ramped up. Early or not it is very welcome. T'dad & T'bgo will do well to observe the next system two to three days away. As it is more south than the first one.
God bless

Petit Valley, Diego Martin, T'dad & T'bgo, W.I. Good Day, Good Night, Good everything, People of Paradise,
The Poui and Flambouyant have spread their leaves and flowers and seed in the far and wide buttress pattern along the soils with its first sprinkling of rain. Hard to the touch but softened enough to allow immersion, decay and growth, this Earth will provide Food for the bird and beast, friend and foe, victor and vanquished. Pest and Predator will vie for the crown, which this inert earth will timelessly witness.
But back to the tropical conditions right now, .... We can expect rain soon. More north this time than last time. And sad to say for those not prepared, there seems to be a 35 % chance the first Tropical Wave to reach the entire Caribbean will be here in 07 days.
God bless
