Good night, all!

Thank you, Gert. Thank you, Dave, and thank you all of you who read my updates and wrote to me when storms threatened us, and sympathized at the loss of my pets. Thanks for the confidence in asking how the weather will be for a vacation two weeks away I had to smile at that one), and so forth. Please write to me any time, I would love to hear from you. I usually don't post updates until June, if I'm alive and kicking, as they say. I will, however, post if we are having a noteworthy system in our region.

Please print out the story, if you will, and hopefully you can live that hurricane with me, then I know I described it well. God bless you all and have a very happy Christmas and a healthy, prosperous 2013! (see previous post with photo and update of Nov. 30th)

It left in a dramatic blaze of sunset. Today is almost over and it is almost
Nov. 30th, the end of the hurricane season 2012. I hope and pray for those hard
hit this time, that the generous help they receive will make a big difference.
May everyone wear a smile as we approach the most beautiful time of year. May
God bless us all.

Good day!

From the port hole at our house you can appreciate the weather out there. The
sea is choppy and the clouds are providing a constantly changing picture. The
beautiful Caribbean is as blue and enchanting as ever. I wish you can feel that
soothing, refreshing breeze. It makes me hammock sleepy. The weather birds are
gathering. There is rain in the forecast for each day but not a huge amount,
just enough to wet the plants and keep the air cool and comfortable. Hope
you're having a great day too! May God bless us all.

A gentle Good Night to all,
We had a very nice day here, hope you did too. To think that we shall never see
another day like this one again as nice as it was, however, tomorrow may be
even nicer. So, whatever happens, let's live by the Golden Rule that the good
things we say and do live after us. May God bless us all with fine weather
wherever we are.

Good Morning!

There are advantages to rising before the sun does. The photo I took this
morning is one of them. It promises to be a very good day weather wise. Many
people will be shopping today as if the world is coming to an end. Well, I
don't believe it is, but I've been doing some research on the end of the Mayan
Calendar on Dec. 21, 2012, and it has to do with a cosmic happening...I will
be sharing this with some of my friends who read these updates and with anyone
else upon request. I will be doing this privately, not as part of stormcarib ;
as you know, I do not write updates after Nov. 30th. Enjoy your day and take a
moment to look up, you never know. May God bless us all.

Did everyone have a happy, thankful DAY? We did. Even If things don't go the
way we wish, the next breath we take is a gift, not to be taken for granted .We
had some really nice, cool air on our hill. The clouds came and the clouds
went, like people, with a variety of faces. We had no rain on our day, however,
a cold front is in the forecast from Saturday to Monday. A "stationary" front!
We hope that the JUMP UP in Christiansted on Friday night will be dry and lots
of fun. May God bless each and every one of us.

A hearty Good Morning to everyone!

For the sake of visitors, friends, and relatives traveling towards St. Croix,
know that the weather is just fine. We did not get the rain last night and I
did not need a boat after all! Unless there's a "Monsoon Trof" or a storm, it
does not rain consistently. Sometimes we get a sunny rain when both occur
together. We can even imagine a mountain range in the clouds with snow on the
peaks as in the photo below. There's always a reason to smile. Have a great
day. May God bless us all.

Hello Again!

After the glorious sunshine this morning, a perfect time for sprucing up the
garden for Thanksgiving Day, the sky darkened to the West and crept up eastward
and then the rain poured. The Dolphin Swimmers had to get out of the pool at
the first clap of thunder. The rest of the evening is in for much of the same.
Last night we had a mini deluge which caused landslides. I'm heading out to a
meeting now I just hope I don't have to trade my car for a boat! I guess this
weather is typical for November. Be well, be happy, and may God bless us all.

Good afternoon,

We have "numerous showers" in the forecast. Except for a brief clearing now and
then, the day has been pretty much as in the photo. Nevertheless, it's warm and
it's nice to have "pregnant" clouds around. We can always use some more rain.
Everything's looking good; no hint of the last two names on the list becoming
something. I hope I'm not speaking too soon. Some folks will be dealing with
the nightmare of SANDY for a long time plus winter in the Northeast besides.
Some folks can only think of Black Friday! God help us and bless us....

And so does the Mayan Calendar in December. What shall that mean as far as the
weather goes..? That is still left to be seen. As far as this modern calendar
year of 2012, it will end with devastating images left by Hurricane SANDY never
to be forgotten! Some folks gone from their family circle to be remembered
forever. The two little boys taken away by the surge...it was the last thing I
heard one night before I retired. I shall never forget it. We are so far away
and yet so near, so closely intertwined that we can feel the pain of those who
suffer. We can pray and help with donations to back up our prayers. Let's sit a
while and ponder. May God bless us one and all!

A beautiful, rosy start to the day. There were rumbles of thunder to our south;
no rain as yet. It looks as if the sun will reign at least for a part of the
day. Visitors have been arriving by the droves. I wish them all good weather

- Rainy Day

Good Evening!

Just yesterday I was wishing for rain and today we had a Monsoon Trof  and  my husband and I happened to be out on an errand!! The streets became rivers in no time and visibility was very poor. I could not take a photo as the rain was streaming in even if I opened the window just a crack. Our 11 yr. old granddaughter took a photo from the house, but often even a photo cannot convey the entire reality. However, she was happy to oblige with the attached photo. There is more rain in the forecast, so I think our cisterns are smiling, and so are we, although, we just bought 3000 gallons of water last week to supplement what we had for the needs of five people on a daily basis. We have a tall, blue water container under the deck, similar to the "water buffaloes" used on construction sites here, which catches water for garden use and for our four Red-Footed Tortoises, which require water for various pools within their domain. They walk through their drinking water and before you know it, it's all muddy! Yuck!!

The Veterans managed to march proudly down King Street in Christiansted to the Band Stand at the National Park at the Fort. They held speeches, but before long, everyone had to scatter as the rain came with a vengeance. The sky to the East became an eerie dark with the approaching rain. All in all, I think they cannot complain, there was a great turnout and the march itself was not interrupted by rain. Many young people participated with their school bands as well and that in itself is always a sight to see and hear.

Have a very good night and may God bless the Veterans and us all!

Indeed, a nice day, as we watch the clouds for His coming!
I am also watching the East for any signs of development from that large
tropical wave. It is being torn apart by 30 - 50 mph winds, so most likely it
will not survive even as a wave. We are having another dry spell and can use
some rain. Greetings to all the Veterans out there! Have a great day! May God
bless you and us all!

we are living. Most unusual. Does the calendar know that the NHC has a set time
for the Hurricane Season? I hope so.

Have wonderful weekend and may God bless us all.

Good Evening!

The hurricane season is winding down so we hope we won't be having any
surprises. We look with compassion on those who once again have to bear the
brunt of another storm, this time a Winter storm. My son took a bike trip with
some friends to the Rockaway beach front where they often went and was shocked
at the devastation. He was glad to see
his favorite bench still standing. Nearby he noticed a sheet of paper stuck in
some debris and it was the Beatles song LET IT BE. He plays with a band and
took it as a message. I hope that those who do not have heat will seek shelter
from the Nor'easter. My heart and prayers go out to them. May God bless us all.

Good Early Morning, everyone!

Our day started out with an overcast sky and there's rain in our near future,
like today, perhaps? We're having a dry spell. We could use some rain. This
morning I was treated to what I discerned as a "doggie" in the sky and thought
immediately of Prinz that recently departed for the Rainbow Bridge.

The number of those who died due to the power of SANDY
continues to rise. My heart goes out to those who mourn and struggle through
this disaster along with so many, many others. I pray that the Nor'easter will
be gentle and fast moving for the sake of those in the Northeast; let's not
forget the victims in the Caribbean. May God bless us all.

- Creepy Crawlies and other things!

A Good Night to All!

Beware of centipedes in the bed, in the middle of the night! Ouch! There are also creepy crawlies to our East and to our West. So much activity! Hope they amount to some rain, at least. What a devastation in the Northeast. My heart just breaks for all those broken hearts. Those two little boys swept away from their mother. What a horrible thing for anyone to endure.

I was happy to hear that electricity is coming back to many people. If we were living on the East River at Waterside Plaza as we did for little more than twelve years, we would have had to move out like everyone else, as well as all the hospitals on First Avenue, one block away. I spoke to a friend, newly widowed, who also lives there and is anxious for the authorities to lift the evacuation order so that she can return home. Our two sons were not affected directly. BUT, there is something else on the way there! A Nor'easter than can be quite strong!

What a mess! However, as sad as that picture is in the Northeast, read what Dr. Masters wrote in his blog about Haiti. Let's hope that the system to our West in their area now will not add insult to injury. Be well, be Happy and may God bless us all.!

- SANDY'S Trail of Death and Misery
  • From: Isabel Cerni <isabelcerni at gmail.com>
  • Date: Thu, 1 Nov 2012 10:51:41 -0400
Good Morning

Our hearts go out to all who are suffering at the loss of loved ones due to the
wrath of SANDY. So much misery ! Who would have thought that the "S" storm
would be the one to cause such havoc from the Western Caribbean to New Jersey
and beyond with more than a hundred people dead!
When I reflect back on the early stages of this storm we were so happy at the
thought of getting some rain out of it, but it dropped too far south. We have
not had rain for a while now. It's mostly sunny, nice day to have off. May
Bless us all.

- Turbulent Atlantic Ocean
  • From: Isabel Cerni <isabelcerni at gmail.com>

The huge waves generated by SANDY are far reaching causing dangerous conditions
along the north-facing shores of our islands. A buoy recorded a 36 ft wave,
others were in the 20+ category. An 11 ft wall of sea water is expected to hit
NY. It would not surprise me if it is higher than that. The Coast Guard had to
rescue the crew of the tall ship replica Bounty when it took on water. They
reported that the ocean's waves were between 18 - 20 feet high. We can see the
waves crashing on the reef. Otherwise we are not affected. The conditions here
are quite pleasant with a refreshing breeze; it's partly cloudy. No rain for
the moment. The photo shows a serene scene with the Ginger Thomas bush in the
foreground, sea, sky, and clouds in the background. While we live at peace, we
cannot help worrying about our children in the "Big Apple" and all the folks
there who will be getting "smashed" by SANDY as someone said. The collision of
the forces in play will cause it to stall for days according to the experts
inflicting a miserable and life- threatening situation. We do not see any
threats in the near future, for us. I hope it stays that way. May God Bless us
all.
