Briefly:

Satellite and radar show a few showers coming in on the NE trades. I guess there is a chance of rain at any time today some could be a bit heavy. We are in a predominately NE airflow. A mixture of clouds and Sun.

There is a cold front moving South towards the Northern islands. It is not likely to come this far South though.

It has been a cloudy/wet December. Let's look forward to a bit of dry season - but not too much!

Hope you all have a great 2013!

Rain on roof, just to prove my point!

Good Christmas morning to you all, where ever you are in the World.

Christmas day here in Grenada is pretty grim (weatherwise) at the moment. The radar is showing plenty of rain around. Looks like a wet Christmas morning. The rain is coming down in buckets!

But don't let that stop us all having a lovely Christmas day.

Seasons Greetings to all of you. Hope you all have a great 2013.

- A 'shower' this evening?

Hi folks,

Not really weather related, but this evening is the peak of a meteor 'shower'. It is the Geminids. Best time to go out is about 9pm onwards. You shouldn't have to wait long before seeing a 'shooting star'. Try to find somewhere away from these awful street lights which create so much light pollution.

The weather seems to be improving slowly, although I see a band of scattered showers creeping down through the Lesser Antilles, from the NE, hopefully they won't ruin our viewing. Let's hope for a 'shower' tonight, but not a wet one!

- Miserable UK weather in Grenada!
  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Sun, 09 Dec 2012 07:07:05 -0400
Good morning,

I have been very quiet recently as there has been little change in the weather. It has been dry for quite some time, at least here in the South.

We have had some light rain over night. Looking out of the window it looks like a miserable day in the UK (other than the temperature). It is dull & the drizzle is making it look misty.

Looking at the satellite and radar images, there seems to be plenty of rain just off to our East between us & Barbados. It is appears to be trying to move westward but the upper winds have other ideas. Over the last couple of hours there has been little movement. If it manages to move westward then we could have some reasonable rain, but at the moment it is just drizzle and miserable. Looking at the Dive Grenada web cam I don't see as many early morning joggers/walkers on the beach. Also there appears to be a cruise ship in - I hate seeing cruise ships in on days like these, the passengers go away with a wrong impression. Let's hope this weather burns off as the Sun gets hotter, this doesn't look very promising at the moment.

As I end this I see some slightly brighter patches just over us, even a glimpse of blue, but still looks grim to the East.

Have a good day.

- Wind and rain over night

Good morning,

I don't know if anyone else was woken by some very strong winds overnight? Our bedroom roof was rattling, NO it was Banging, like a herd of elephants on it. The last time I heard this was during Emily. It only happened in short bursts of about 30 seconds and preceded the rain. We seem to have had over an inch of rain, which we need.

Looking at the various web sites, I think this spell of rain will pass. The NHC discussion for the Caribbean states:

THE SE CARIBBEAN S OF 14N BETWEEN 60W-70W CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE
WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED TSTMS AS WEAK SURFACE
TROUGHING PROGRESSES WESTWARD.

Comparing this with the satellite and radar images it does look as if the weather will improve as the morning goes on. As often happens when there has been heavy rain (a large amount of convection) there could be some high cloud. Looking out to the East I see some more showers heading this way. It would be nice if the day visitors from the cruise ship leave the island having seen it in sunshine and not wet and overcast.

Have a good day and don't forget the Horticultural Show at the Grand Beach Convention Centre. Apparently, and I quote someone, ' it looks like a miniature Chelsea Flower Show'. We will be going.

Hi all

Yes, Hogan I agree, we do need the rain but now it is pouring and even the dogs have taken refuge in the Lounge.  The dogs always think the rain at this time of year means worse it to come.  I spoke to my daughter in England this morning and they have a broken fence to repair thanks to heavy wind Thursday night and I assured her it wasn’t our fault this time.

By the way, I have washing that needs to get dry!!!!!!  Hoping it will be dry tomorrow so I can achieve my aim and you, Hogan can paint.

- It looks like a spell of typical weather.
  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>

Good morning,

Today looks like a typical Grenada day. As an almost clear sky brightens, with Venus glowing in the dawn sky (no it is not a satellite as some believe), we are in what, I feel, is a normal weather system, slowly moving in from East. It tends to alternate between periods of mostly clear skies and periods of more bubbly clouds, some of which bring showers of rain. Such a band is currently in the region of Barbados stretching to the Leewards. This could move through us later in the day. It does appear that this could be our weather pattern for the next few days. The rain the two days ago was welcome, but not sufficient to top up water tanks for the coming months. Still this is November and, I am told frequently, one of the wettest months. We will see.

I am beginning to ease off on the posts as we, hopefully, move out of the 'hurricane' season.

Have a good day.

Good morning Grenada,

We had some reasonable rain the latter part of the night and some more this morning.

The satellite images are showing that there are numerous small areas of clouds, moving in from the East. The radar shows the same. Just South of T&T there seems to be a small band of heavier convection. It looks as if we could be prone to showers at any time during the day. There definitely seems to be more cloud around compared to the last few days.

Mostly overcast (at 07:20) with showers visible in most directions.

Have a good weekend

Yesterday I bullied the gardener into watering the garden so you know what
happened next. Yes, a great big rain storm which looked as if it was going to
Carriacou, made a little diversion and dumped all over Bathway. The roses
loved it! The gardener was very grumpy!

Today there is a lovely cool breeze..hurrah, hurrah! The other side of the
island has been getting the breeze recently. It is quite overcast with the sun
trying to break through a layer of cloud and I think we may have a shower
later. It never fails to amaze me how such a tiny island can have two
different weather patterns! This north east tip doesn't seem to belong to
Hogan's part of the island. Sandy lashed us on its devastating journey to the
US. Did St George's feel the sting? Not a bit!

A large black cloud is hovering over Kick 'em Jenny. Rain does not usually
come from there but I don't think I will ask the gardener to water the
garden......note, I said ask. What is it with gardeners!

- More dry weather?
  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>

First I must correct my mistake from yesterday. Of course it was a FULL Moon, not a NEW Moon as I mentioned.

The rain showers that I was hoping for never really reached Westerhall, although we did hear some thunder. I think some of the northern parts of Grenada and Carriacou appeared to get the rain.

Today the radar is almost clear of rain, the satellite images seem show us in a fairly dry zone. There is no breeze to talk of as I write, and the airport information show it has been calm for most of the night. There are a few clouds out to the NE, but I don't think they will bring any rain.

It looks as if it could be a mostly sunny day with the odd chance of a small shower.

Good morning, I am sure the plants think so.

The large area's of convection I mentioned yesterday dispersed over night. The rain we have just had seems to be from a large area of scattered showers drifting down from the NE. The radar shows a large number of them between au and Barbados.

It really looks like we can expect a mixture of hazy sun and possibly heavy showers.

I thought I would include a photo of the New Moon reflecting on the sea taken from the South Coast of Grenada the night before last. I hope you like it.

  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>

Hi,

I am sorry for being a bit late, but I though it was going to be another day like the last few. But I have noticed a few radar blips that indicate a few showers midway between Tobago/Barbados & Grenada. But of more interest, on the satellite images, is a band of what appears to be heavy convection stretching from just east of Tobago for about 600 miles into the Atlantic. This band is moving slowly westwards. Tobago is reporting Cumulonimbus clouds nearby. The big question is will they stay south of us or move a little further north and give us some rain later today and tomorrow? As you all know my forecasting skills have a lot to be desired! But it would be nice to get some rain.

10:00 sky is mostly clear. I can see the first signs of some high cloud off to the East. there is a nice SE breeze.

Hope you all have a great day.

- The tropical wave that WAS heading our way!
  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Tue, 30 Oct 2012 10:47:48 -0400
Good morning,

Yet another sunny day, but at least there is a nice stiff breeze, but this brings with it the noisy kites! Unfortunately, what I took as a tropical wave heading our way has all but disappeared. The radar is showing no rain anywhere in the Eastern Caribbean and the satellite images show very little activity in our part of the Atlantic.

So my guess is that maybe there maybe a slight build up of clouds this afternoon, which could bring the odd shower.

We have had a visitor for 10 days and she has hardly seen any rain. The Gommier trees are beginning to drop leaves, always the first to do so in dry weather.

Have a nice day.

- Still in this area of stable weather (dry)!
  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Mon, 29 Oct 2012 07:10:34 -0400
Good morning,

I haven't been doing posts for some time as we seem to be in an area of very settled weather.

As Sandy approaches the US, and likely to become a rather nasty storm as it mixes with a Winter storm, we should remember that it started life here as two days of miserable weather about 10 days ago. To some of our Grenadian friends that are currently in that part of the USA, keep your heads down!

Looking out to our east I see what looks like a tropical wave slowly moving in our direction. The leading edge of the system is about 600 miles away. We could do with some rain (that's all we want), so I am hoping that it brings some, Thursday(ish) maybe. Many of our plants are beginning to suffer and need the rain.

There is no rain showing on the radar at this time, and only small fluffy clouds scattered around. There is only a slight SE breeze. So it looks like another hot day with just a chance of a shower.

Have a good Monday.

- Two Tropical Storms!
  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Wed, 24 Oct 2012 07:00:50 -0400
Good morning,

We now have two tropical storms. Sandy off to our west and moving slowly towards Jamaica, and Tony (was TD19) well NE of the Leewards. We are still in the weather gap between the two. It has been giving us good weather for the last three days. The high cloud I mentioned is still spewing out of Sandy, but dissipating before reaching us. To the east, the wave that spawned Tony is creeping towards us, but seems to be weakening as it approaches. Hopefully it might bring a little rain over the next few days. Our garden is beginning to need it.

The sky looks very similar to that over the last few days. Small fluffy clouds, maybe slightly more over the hills than this time yesterday. There are no showers showing on the radar, in the Eastern Caribbean at this time. Can this weather hold until tomorrow?

- TD18 becomes Tropical Storm Sandy
  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2012 06:56:48 -0400
Good morning,

The tropical depression has become tropical storm Sandy overnight. It is thought to be creeping north towards Jamaica, as predicted, but very slow at the moment. The centre is about 600 miles west of us. The high level cloud bands I mentioned yesterday don't quite reach out to us, at the moment. So this leaves us with another fine looking day. I still think there is a chance of high cloud during the day. There isn't a shower showing anywhere in the Eastern Caribbean, on the weather radar. We sit midway between Sandy to the West and the tropical wave, that spawned Tropical depression Nineteen, to our east.

There is a nice breeze and a few low clouds. A lovely day, by the looks of it.

- Two depressions!!
  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Mon, 22 Oct 2012 17:12:28 -0400
Late afternoon.

Both of the weather systems have developed into tropical depressions. The one to our west is TD18 and the one NE of the Leewards is TD19. TD18 is beginning to look as if it could be Tropical Storm Sandy by tomorrow, me thinks!

A really fantastic day today. The clouds have remained small and fluffy all day. The radar is clear of rain, apart from a small blip NW of Barbados.

Tomorrow looks fair, but with a risk of high cloud spilling out of TD18 which could affect us and maybe a slight chance of some showers.

Depending on how strong TD18 has become as it passes through the Jamaica/Cuba area Wednesday/Thursday. It is expected to be a hurricane by the time it reaches Jamaica. If this happens a small swell could pick up affecting the west coast at the end of the week.

Have a pleasant evening.

Good morning,

The weather system out to our West is building and probably will become a Tropical Depression soon. It is expected to remain stationary for the next day then move north through Jamaica & Cuba.

The other system several hundred miles NE of the Leewards does not look as if it will cause us any problems.

Lovely morning.

  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Sun, 21 Oct 2012 07:20:49 -0400
Good morning,

A slight Easterly breeze, the sun is shining, plenty of small fluffy clouds.

The weather system (which passed through here two days ago) is sitting in the mid Caribbean, just south of Jamaica. One site I am watching has it building there for a few days before moving North/North East through the Greater Antilles then NE through the Atlantic. If this is the case, I guess that, although we shouldn't get bad weather, we could be affected by some high cloud pushing off of the system. The NHC shows a 60% chance of this developing in the next 48 hours.

Off to our NE is the other low pressure/tropical wave, which has a 30% chance of developing, but it does not look as if it will come near enough to us to have any effect, at the moment.

There is hardly any rain showing, on the radar, in the Eastern Caribbean at the present time.

Have a good Sunday.

  • Date: Sat, 20 Oct 2012 07:51:20 -0400
Good morning,

Well, I was wrong yesterday. The afternoon was very dull and a good bit of drizzle. This weather is forming a weather system out to our west which now has a 20% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next two days. If this happens then it should be out to our west, although one site that I monitor has the low pressure system staying not too far away and eventually moving north.

Further out to the East is another tropical wave which only has a 10% chance of developing, and hopefully will not affect us.

It is a bright morning with many clouds around. No rain in sight, but, the radar does show a few moving in from the east, mostly slightly north of us, at the moment. There is a nice Easterly breeze.

It was a pretty bad day yesterday, rain and overcast, but a nice cool night. The bad weather seems to have cleared through, not so many showers showing on the radar, and the satellite images are showing a clearer area to our east.

The NHC weather summary, for the first time in weeks, says there are no tropical cyclones in the area. Hopefully a good sign that we are almost at the end of the season. Let us keep our fingers crossed.

Have to go with Hogan on this one because here in Mt.Moritz, where if rain is to be had we get it, it was a relatively peaceful night.  We had some lightening and a few rolls of thunder accompanying a much yearned for breeze.  The dogs obviously sensed the thunder (or heard it) before I did and were clambering for places next to me but unless I slept through it all (and with 6 dogs who hate the bad weather that is unlikely) it was no where near what I had expected.  Maybe there will be some rain today; it is cloudy with the odd patch of blue and the clouds still seem slightly confused as to which direction they should be travelling but at the moment I am enjoying the breeze and the somewhat cooler temperature.

The dogs are out cold......"walkies" produces no reaction, not even a twitch

there is breeze coming from the wrong direction,I leave it to Hogan to tell you

Good morning,

Well apart from plenty of lightning and a small amount of thunder we had no rain during the night (I am talking about Westerhall area). The islands to the north of us seem to be getting a battering. It looks like we have been lucky, so far. As soon as I said 'no rain' it has started raining, only light at the moment. There is still a large amount of overcast high cloud around. This seems to be normal as a tropical wave passes.

With Rafael now west of the Leewards we are now getting a Southerly breeze. The radar shows some rain bands out near Barbados and stretching down to Tobago, then again up from Barbados just east of the Leeward islands. We are still in an area with little rain showing. This has been the story of this wave, so far. Most of the islands around us appear to have had quite a drenching.

Although Rafael is well to our north and heading in a northerly direction, we are still in the influence of the tropical wave that spawned it, so we could still get some rain. I am expecting the breeze to continue from a southerly direction for the rest of the day. I will also be watching to the South for approaching rain showers.

Looking out, as the sun is about to rise, There are some breaks in the high cloud, but even these are very hazy. Towards the hills there is some low cloud chopping the tops off the mountains.

Have a great weekend.

Hi Grenada friends,

I have been looking at the posts from some of the other islands. Just in case you think that 98L wasn't much, have a look at some of the posts from some of the other islands, or look at the Weather radar from Martinique or the satellite images. The sky is very dark over to the East, it seems to be a thick layer of very high cloud. We have been very lucky, so far, but there is very heavy convection between us and St Vincent and beyond. And it looks as if Trinidad is getting a pasting.

Could we get a sound & light display tonight????

What's it like up at Bathway or Carriacou anyone?

In the last half hour, a dead calm has been replaced by a light breeze moving from west to east, with clouds also moving in the same direction, but quite a bit faster. I think the storm center is developing south of the low positioning with the round blob of high cold cloud tops - and I'm hoping/expecting they'll upgrade at 11:30 am today so people in Grenada can go home early from work.

I find it so frustrating when people don't get a chance to prepare. I was speaking to my neighbour this morning while collecting laundry from the line and she had no idea anything was in the area.

Good morning Grenada,

As per most of the predictions yesterday, the centre of 98L has taken a North-Westerly route. The last position of 98L at 06:00 GMT was just East of St Lucia. It now has a 70% chance of becoming a tropical Cyclone in the next two days. There are plenty of showers associated with this system, but most are to the East of the centre. Although it has missed Grenada, we may well have some heavy showers during the day, but I suspect most will slide by east of us. Looking at the satellite images there seems to be some big showers just east of Tobago as I write this.

As dawn approaches, I can see a string of showers off to our east. Apart from that the mountain tops are clear of cloud. There is NO BREEZE.

Hope you all have a nice day.

Good morning Grenada - 06:00,

The tropical wave is less than 400 miles off to our East-South-East and is beginning to give signs of turning north (as most of the models predict). It is now given a 50% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours. It looks as if the Leewards will get the worst of the weather.

I guess that it will pass near enough to give us an increased chance of rain starting from later today, and leaving us with increase chance of high cloud after it passes to the North (for the weekend?).

There are some showers showing, both on the radar and visible just off to our east, and much more cloud than recently.Looking at the satellite images It all seems to be part of the wave.

Have a good day.

  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Wed, 10 Oct 2012 09:31:15 -0400
Good morning.

Still the tropical wave is moving West. It is 550 miles East of us and still moving at 15mph. Only a couple of the models show it coming near Grenada, the rest are still scattered up through the Lesser Antilles and even missing them. Whatever path it takes it does look as if it will affect the weather from late tomorrow through the weekend. To what extent depends on how near it gets. It is now given a 30% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone by Friday, so it doesn't look as if it will be too bad.

Hi,

The tropical wave and large area of low pressure which I mentioned yesterday now has a 20% chance of developing. It is 1050miles East of us and there appears to cover a large area. The satellite images show, what appear to be, heavy rain and probably thunder storms. The few model predictions so far show it's course anywhere from Grenada in the south to missing the island chain completely. If it continues on it's present path (WNW) and speed we should see the affects of it on about Friday and through weekend.

Providing I don't lose my internet connection (as I did for several hours yesterday) I will keep an eye on this system.

Hi all,

We arrived back in Grenada yesterday, and today I see there is a tropical wave about 1600 miles ESE of us. It has a low chance of developing (according to the NHC), but it could bring us some 'weather' in about 4 days time. I will keep an eye on it.

It is nice to be back from the UK, where it was beginning to turn colder.

At this moment we are experiencing very heavy rain and loud thunder, this has been on and off since the early hours of the morning gradually getting worse.  The dogs are most unhappy with the thunder and that means I can’t move!!!!

We had the same lightening and wind (although not as strong wind by the sounds of it) as Barbados had Thursday, the lightening was brilliant in that it totally lit up the sky.

I wish we could send some of this rain up to the northern islands because we have had enough now!!!!!

Take care everyone.

Sorry folks, I will not be able to give first-hand weather updates for the next 2 weeks. I will keep an eye on the weather situation and post if anything interesting happens. I see that you had some rain and thunder last night.

The Atlantic looks fairly quiet at the moment, with just a very weak wave passing through the area in the next couple of days.

Be back soon.

- Will we get rain from 92L?
  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Sun, 16 Sep 2012 05:56:08 -0400
The tropical Wave that is about to pass through is designated 92L. Looking at the satellite and radar images, it looks like most of the rain will be north of us. The radar shows a large area of rain from Barbados to the East & North-east of them. There are scattered showers from St Vincent and to their north & east north and east.

There is hardly any breeze, which is typical ahead of a wave. I was hoping for some rain, but I am not sure we will get much/any.

The Sun is just coming up (05:55) and the sky is mostly cloud free, a lovely sunrise.

Good morning,

Another good start to the day. The weather is similar to the last few days.

There is a small tropical wave about 800 miles East of us and heading this way. This should start to bring a change of weather later tomorrow for a couple of days. Hopefully it will bring us a little rain and not much else. The NHC are giving it a very low chance of developing before it reaches the island chain.

Have a good day.

Good morning Grenada,

With Tropical Storm Nadine moving north away from the Lesser Antilles, the Atlantic looks fairly quiet. There is a group of what looks like thunder storms about 1000 miles due East of us, but the models do not show these developing at the moment.

Here and now - Some 'Caribbean' type clouds around, a very light Easterly breeze (06:40), there are no showers showing on the radar. The satellite images show us being in a fairly stable air. It looks like it could be another hot day?

Have a good day, a little rain would be nice!

  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Wed, 12 Sep 2012 07:03:53 -0400
Nadine is following the predicted path and should easily miss the Lesser Antilles.

The only other blob, at the moment, is south of the Cape Verde's. It is not well defined and I have not seen any sites that develop it, yet!

It is a lovely morning, there is a band of light high cloud to the South of us, that has been wobbling there for many hours, and does not seem to know which way to go. So possibly it could mist over the Sun during the day (or not!). I there isn't any rain showing on the weather radar to the East and the satellite images show very little cloud for the time. So it looks like another nice day in Paradise.

Hi, good morning.

I have to apologize, I am not sure where I got TD14 from, 91L looks like becoming a TD, but has not as yet been designated as one. The NHC give it 90% chance of becoming a Tropical Cyclone in the next 48 hours. It does seem to have turned slightly further towards the NW in the latest position, 15.9 at 06:00 GMT.

There is a small blob at about 10N just south of the Cape Verde's. Worth watching, although it is not predicted,as yet, to develop.

06:09 Breezy morning, a heavy shower just about to pass by just south of us, looks like Ft Jeudy and Westerhall point will get it in the next few minutes, possibly we will get some in Westerhall Heights as well. Fairly cloudy. The radar shows a good number of showers to our East, so I expect some rain today.

Good Afternoon Grenada,

Rain in the night, and it has been pretty cloudy all morning. Nice and pleasant to work in. We have had a few showers and it looks as if we are in an unsettled area of weather. The satellite shows a few showers around, although there seems to be less than an hour ago (A quick heavy show on the roof as I type)!

Further out to the East, West of Cape Verde's 91L has now been designated TD14, it has moved to 15.4N about the latitude of Dominica and 1500 miles due East. All the predictions have it turning north and avoiding the islands. The turn should start in the next two days!

Looking out - it is cloudy! There is a small shower visible approaching from the East. IT IS COOL!

  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Sun, 09 Sep 2012 06:14:33 -0400
The Wave near The Cape Verde's has been designated 91L. It is further north than most disturbances at this point across the Atlantic and the models show it curving further to the north before reaching the Lesser Antilles.

Apart from what looks like some light showers between us and Barbados, and maybe a little more cloud than at this time yesterday, it does look like another sunny day. although there does appear to be a bigger chance of rain in the next day or so. The ITCZ seems to be a bit more active than recently and moving generally in our direction. One web site I look at is predicting a fair chance of rain tomorrow, we will see.

Looking out at 06:15, there is just the slightest Easterly breeze, a few fluffy clouds in most directions, some just scraping the tops of the mountains. There are no signs of rain, yet.

Hi,

Sorry that I haven't been posting for a few days, but there has been nothing to report. It has been hot and mostly very dry. By saying it looks as if that looks like continuing, hopefully I will be proved wrong and we will get some rain.

A tropical wave is just between the Cape Verde's and Africa. It seems to be quite a way north, and hopefully will stay that way. At time of writing this I have not seen any models predicting it's path. By tomorrow we should have some idea.

The Sun has come up, and it looks like another good day. No rain to be seen on the radar.

Good morning Grenada,

Here I go with my seaweed prediction. With a bit of help from some more hi-tech stuff.

Currently there are no systems of any size coming across the Atlantic. Although there is an area of what looks like storms about 1000miles SW of the Cape Verde's, and 1500 miles East of us.

Closer to home - The Martinique radar seems to not be working, so I cannot see any rain showers. There is still some high haze, which looks like the remnants of Leslie's out-spill. The satellite images show some storm clouds in the vicinity of T&T, the airports of both report cumulonimbus (the big stuff that can produce thunder storms). It doesn't appear to be moving in our direction at the moment, but there are some signs of clouds building a little further East and slightly North of Tobago. So my guess is the higher haze will decrease and the risk of showers could increase as the day goes on.

Have a nice day.

Good morning,

All looks fairly good on satellite and radar. There doesn't appear to be any rain in our area. As Leslie moves further away to the North, I hope we will pick up some of our trade winds again. Apart from a rogue 99L which has formed a long way NW of the Cape Verde's and doesn't pose us any threat, there does not appear to be any systems predicted for at least a few days.

It is another nice day. Hopefully the breeze will pick up soon.

The new system out to our East TD12 (98L) is moving westwards at about 13.7N. All predictions are for it to turn north just before it reaches the Lesser Antilles, about Sunday/Monday. I guess it will affect our weather a bit by the end of the weekend.

The satellites are showing some heavy clouds just north of Barbados, and the radar confirms that there are some rain showers associated with it. There is only the odd small shower between us and Barbados. It has been a fine day so far. This I expect to last for the next day or two.

It is a typical Grenada morning, with a slight breeze, plenty of sun, and a few clouds.

Good morning,

Isaac has slowed down to about 6mph. This I guess is bad news as it will take longer to go through where it hits. It's position about 4 hours ago was just south of New Orleans, but had moved slightly to the west. Hopefully NO will not get the full brunt of this Cat 1.

We now turn our eyes to the East. 98L is South-West of the Cape Verdes at 11.9N. All models show it should turn North. We all hope for that. The Sahara air layer has weakened since the last depression went through. This has tended to weaken the previous depressions.

Current weather (06:20) calm, mostly overcast in all directions except NW. Some low clouds touching the tops of the mountains. There are a few small scattered clouds showing on the radar. There does not appear to be much weather showing on satellite images between us and 98L so hopefully a couple of fair days ahead.

I hope you all have a nice day.

The only thing of wory to us is the African blob, just South of Cape Verde's. I will continue to monitor that.

Last night we had some very heavy rain and the inlets have turned brown again!

Other than that it is a pleasant cool morning. We still have a lot of high cloud over us. There is just a slight Easterly breeze. The radar doesn't show many showers to our east. Dare I say, it looks as if we may have a better day today?

Well that was a night/early morning, filled with heavy rain (still raining) and some of the loudest clashes of thunder I have heard, certainly this season. I hope it missed Trinidad as they seem to have had more than their fair share so far and really did not need any more flooding.  Not sure how our Island faired with this dose but will find out later.  The sky is still grey as far as I can see with a little bit of light coming up from the South.  All I can hear is water running in the drains as the rain has just stopped.

I will be yawning at work today because 6 large dogs shaking with fear are not conducive to a good nights sleep!!!!!! Let’s hope for a better day today.
Stay safe all.

Good morning and sorry I didn't send a post yesterday. But if i Had I would have been wrong anyway. I thought it was going to be a much better day than it turned out.

The low pressure system 97L, now West of the Cape Verde Islands is moving, as predicted , towards the NW. It is now at about 16 degs N and does not appear to be a threat to the Lesser Antilles.

There is still a lot of moisture streaming out from Isaac, as it approaches the Western coast of Florida giving us plenty of high cloud and there are also quite a few of what looks like showers on the radar. As I write, we are getting some drizzle from medium high clouds.

It still looks as if we could have a good bit of cloud today, but hopefully less than yesterday. There does seem to be a drier patch heading our way, possibly later today or tomorrow.

Looking out, the sun is trying to push though out to the East through thin layers of high cloud. There is a slight easterly breeze. There are a few scattered low clouds, some of which are scraping the tops of the mountains.

There appears to be another tropical wave coming off Africa, but I have not seen any mention of it as yet.

Have a nice Sunday.

Friday isn't starting off too well. Strong winds and cloud.

Isaac is continuing slowly to move West.
96L - TD10 - Joyce appears to be harmlessly (for us) moving NW into the open Atlantic (accept for Bermuda). 97L which came off Africa in the last couple of days is at 13.5N and just SE of the Cape Verdes. All models show this going North!

Current weather. Strong winds from the East. We are just getting a few heavy drops of rain. Almost 100% high overcast sky. Hazy.

Radar shows a weak band of rain passing Grenda, with a wider band North of Grenada (possibly Carriacou) but moving towards the NW. Very little else showing, in our area, at present. I can see a bright patch where the Sun is trying to push through the high cloud.

The satellites images do not show much in the way of heavy clouds coming in our direction, but they are not good at showing thin high cloud. My guess is the wind will ease off and hopefully we may see some Sun during the day. Although one website shows the high cloud continuing for most of the day.

Have a nice day.

It's chilly - our thermometer is saying it's 22 degrees (feels like 18 with the windchill, ha ha!). After having the windows closed for yesterdays rain, even slightly opened windows are offering up a great opportunity to cool down the house and reduce the humidity. Good morning Grenada,

As Isaac moves off to the West of us, we are now in the stronger Southerly winds. I expect these to move round to a more South-easterly direction as the day moves on. Looking at the satellite images and the radar, it looks like we won't see a huge amount of Sun today. There is a large amount of high cloud and also large area's of rain to our East. As I write this (07:15) there appears to be an area of rain about to hit us from the South. Hopefully we will see some Sun today, but I expect more cloud than Sun, and some rain.

96L now Tropical Depression 10 is moving, as predicted (so far) in a NW'ly direction and looks as if it will clear the island chain.

There is another wave coming off Africa, which is given a 10% chance of developing in the next 48 hours.

Looking out I see the boats are swinging between S and SE. There are shafts of sun out to the East, but some towering clouds are also visible. The sky to the South looks a bit dark (probably what is shown approaching on the radar). The tops of the mountains are completely in cloud.

Despite all this, have a nice day.

Good morning Grenada,

We have now entered the strange and really unpredictable weather of a tropical depression. Isaac is rapidly approaching Guadaloupe (almost all of the latest models aim there). The calm winds, or from the West, are typical of an approaching depression, with the normal trade winds cancelled out by the movement of air towards the depression. The satellite images, and radar, show a large amount of rain just off to our NE. It does look as if we will have two days of unpredictable weather. A mixture of rain, possibly long spells at times and possibly thunder. The winds, apart from being strong around heavy showers, should be fairly, although likely to pick up tomorrow as Isaac moves out to the west. Isaac is due to pass through Guadeloupe later this evening.

The other depression, 96L, has moved a bit further north over night. all the predictions take it north of the Lesser Antilles, but I am still going to watch it.

My wife said she just heard thunder!

The conditions at the moment are:

No wind, my weathervane (the boats in the bay) are pointing NW. The sea is very calm. 100% overcast, mostly high cloud cover. Some low clouds touching the tops of the mountains. And the occasional sound of thunder. The only directions I can see rain showers, at the moment are to the South & South-west. Although the sky does look rather dark to the East.

Hope you have a nice day.

Good morning,

94L continues to move westwards but has not strengthened much over night. There is still an 80% chance of it becoming a Tropical Cyclone in the next 48 hours. The models are now showing Guadeloupe as the point where it will pass through the Lesser Antilles, slightly north of yesterdays predictions. Today it will pass very close to a buoy "Station 41041" stationed in the Atlantic near 14.17N 46W for those interested the data can be picked up at http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=41041

Another wave has left the coast of Africa, all models show it going NW (at the moment).

Lovely morning, slight breeze, just had a small shower. There are only a couple of small showers to the East showing on the radar. Beyond the reach of the radar are the showers associated with 94L that are approaching from the East. My guess is that we will see an increase in shower activity over the next 24 - 48 hours as 94L approaches the islands at about 20-25 mph (It is currently about 1000 miles away). The satellite images, at the moment, show showers spreading out for some distance (about 500 miles) ahead and to the SW of 94L.

Sorry to be late today, but we were gardening. During gardening we had a visitor cooing from our roof! Got the camera out and took the attached photos of what appears to me to be a racing pigeon. Note the rings on it. This is not much to do with the weather, or is it? Maybe it got lost due to the hazy conditions?

I include these photos in case someone from T&T connected to racing pigeons may see this and pass it on to the owner. Last seen heading North towards the mountains, in the opposite direction to T&T!!!!

Anyway, as I said, it is very hazy today. Hardly any rain showing anywhere in the Lesser Antilles (12:00 local). But there does seem to be what looks like heavy rain and storms ahead of 94L which seems to be taking a more northerly route now. The most southerly projection is through Dominica, but the vast majority of the other models show it going through Martinique - Antigua, Wednesday/Thursday. So as it appears at the moment, the only effects we should have is a slight change of wind direction from normal, maybe late Wednesday into Thursday. We could also have an increase in the risk of showers/thunder during the period the depression passes.

Good morning,

A beautiful morning, a nice breeze. The radar shows very few showers to the East, but a clump of them to the South.

I got the weather so wrong yesterday (no rain at all!). SO I will not make any forecast for today, then I can't get it wrong!!!

The thing that we should now be watching carefully is 94L just SW of the Cape Verdes. It is at 12.1 Degs North (The same as Grenada). The experts feel this could develop over the next 6 days. The models have a complete spread at the moment, so it is too early to say where it could go. Two of the web sites I monitor have it going through the northern Lesser Antilles on about Thursday/Friday. Until we know more about it's intentions we cannot tell how much, if at all, it will affect Grenada.

Have a good day.

The next tropical Wave (94L) has just left the African Coast, heading in a general westerly direction. It is far too early to even guess where it will go and it is too weak to get a real fix on it. I will monitor this over the next few days.

The rain radar shows many showers around, plenty just north of us. It looks like a day of sunshine and showers, possibly more showers.

Have a good day.

Good morning all,

Enjoyable day at the Parade yesterday. The rain kept off. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I hope the man that nearly passed out near the Tropicana is feeling better today.

The Atlantic appears quiet for the time. There are no reports of anything developing that could affect us, in the next couple of days. The satellite images show normal weather for the time of year, with steady Easterly winds bringing sunshine and scattered showers to our shores. There are no rain showers appearing on the radar in our area, at the moment.

Looking out from our place towards the east the sky only has a few small fluffy clouds. The mountains have some clouds just scraping the tops (photo). In the distance, to the South, over or near Trinidad & Tobago and Venezuela there are some large thundery looking clouds (photo). They don't normally come in our direction, but they do give us a good light show in the evenings. There is hardly any breeze, as I write this.

Have a great day

- Trying to work out the weather for the parade!
  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Tue, 14 Aug 2012 10:30:12 -0400
Hi,

I am off to the Parade this afternoon and have been trying to work out what weather to expect. We have fairly 'normal' weather for the time of year. There are very few rain showers on the radar, but still as the moist air hits the island it can produce rain at any time, some can be heavy. Looking out at the moment (10:30) The hills are having rain, but there is plenty of blue sky to the East. I am just hoping we have a mostly dry afternoon, but be prepared for a shower.

Further afield there is a blob of cloud mid Atlantic, but it does not seem to be a threat (yet). Also there is a wave coming off Africa. Neither appear on the NHC website yet.

Enjoy the last day of Carnival.

Good morning, I am a bit late getting up this morning! I thoroughly enjoyed Panorama and thankfully the rain kept off.

We are now in the trailing edge of the wave that went through yesterday. Nice and breezy, quite a bit of low fluffy clouds with some high stuff, sometimes almost blocking the Sun. There is a small streak of rain showing on the radar several miles to our East, and moving in a North-westerly direction.

The Atlantic Inter Tropical Convergence Zone looks almost non existent. There is only one weak blob NW of the Cape Verdes, this does not appear to be a threat to us. So, for the time all looks quiet. But let's not shout yet, we still have half of August and all of September to go yet!

A last glimpse out and I see some scattered areas of high cloud and the little fluffy bits zooming past us in the stiff breeze. So hopefully plenty of sunshine with a risk of some showers.

Enjoy Sunday.

I’m watching the sun shining in the UK whilst watching the Olympics and outside the rain is falling like ‘stair rods’ (my Dad’s Yorkshire _expression_) and the wind is gusty pretty strongly up here in Mt. Moritz'.

It was the Family Fun Day today for the Diaspora at the Morne Rouge playing field, what a shame with this weather but maybe it is not so bad down south. Carnival is Monday and Tuesday so let’s hope this lot passes over and we get some sun.

Hi,

Just a quick post to say that there is very little left of Tropical Depression Seven. What is left of it has merged into the tropical wave. So it now looks like we will just get the kind of weather a tropical wave would cause over the next 24-36 hours. Possible rain, some heavy and thundery with associated gusts of wind.

So far it looks as if we have been spared again.

Hope you all have a good afternoon and evening. We are off shopping if we can manage to wake up two steel pan players that are asleep on our veranda!! They should be rehearsing for tonight. I think they had a good night last night!

- TD7 will pass through the area tonight
  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Sat, 11 Aug 2012 06:39:14 -0400
Good morning.

Well TD7 still has not developed much, and with less than 24 hours before it passes through the island chain, probably about St Lucia/Martinique area, it does not look as if it will. It still seems to be embedded in the tropical wave that generated it, and thus there is some considerable rain and thundery showers to the SW of the centre. There is Thunder in the area of Tobago as I write this. I expect this band of rain showers to come through Grenada before the centre reaches St Lucia about 8pm. It does look as if we could have some heavy showers this afternoon/early evening. Hopefully behind the band of possible heavy showers will be calmer conditions. Similar to the passing (in the same area) of Ernesto last week. It is difficult to be very accurate as the wave changes all the time. Let's hope that it remains mostly dry for Panorama tonight. We will be there!

Conditions as I write this:
Very hazy, clear blue sky to the west, A very hazy sun has just come up in the East, I can see some high cloud moving in from the SE, this is probably spawned from the thundery weather on wave that I mentioned. The pre dawn sky to the East had the lovely spectacle of The Moon Jupiter and Saturn all in a line. Tomorrow this could look even better with the moon between the other two, IF the sky is clear.

Over the next couple of nights, if we are lucky with clear skies, you should see more shooting stars than normal, especially after about 11pm through to just before dawn, the later the better. The earth will be passing through an area of dust known as the Perseids. If we do have clear skies you should see some if you watch for a while. If you are lucky and see several, than draw a line back from where they came from and you will see that the majority appear to come from the same place in the sky. That is the constellation of Perseus (what they are named after). I do hope you see some.

Hope weather holds for Panorama, all the nest to all the bands.

- TD7 latest
  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Fri, 10 Aug 2012 17:12:02 -0400
Good evening,

I wasn't entirely correct with the weather today. We had more showers than I expected, although it has improved this afternoon.

TD7 has not developed much and is not expected to. But it is still a part of a tropical wave, the leading edge is creeping into the Trinidad & Tobago area. What there is of TD7 looks as if it will pass through the islands in the area of St Lucia to Martinique. There will probably be some strong gusty winds to the north of the depression. It is not clear if TD7 will make it to tropical storm force, but if it does it should be on the weak side of TS.

Down here I guess we will get just what you would expect with a tropical wave. This we should see Saturday through Sunday, but hopefully it won't dampen the carnival spirit.

Let's see what tomorrow brings.

- 92L is now Tropical Depression 7
  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Fri, 10 Aug 2012 07:01:00 -0400
Hi all,

TD7 seems to be now following a similar route to that of TD6/Ernesto, a week ago. The good news, for us that is, is it looks as if it will pass through the Lesser Antilles in the St Lucia/Martinique/Dominica area on Sunday, as a Tropical Storm. Currently there is an area of, what looks like, heavy convection/storms ahead and to the South West of it. These are apart of the tropical wave that TD7 has developed from. If this continues then it does look as if we could have the possibility of heavy showers before TD7 passes north of us, I guess this weather will reach us Saturday.

Following TD7, is another system which has just left Africa. All early predictions show this taking a course further north. But we should keep an eye on it.

The current weather at 07:00: fairly cloudy with showers, the Sun is shining. The sea looks calm, there is hardly a breeze and the boats in the bay are laying at all angles on their anchors. There is a nice rainbow over Ft Jeudy, from a small passing shower. There aren't any showers large enough to show on the radar to our East, and I can't see any signs, as yet, of any high cloud. We are in an area of dryish air, so it does look like another nice warm day, with possible small showers.

Have a nice day,

  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Thu, 09 Aug 2012 12:33:27 -0400
Good morning,

I delayed sending a post today as I didn't think the latest predictions were correct for 92L. Sure enough, the centre of the system has dropped a bit and thus the models now show a more southerly route. The majority are still in the St Vincent - Martinique area, and look like they will be passing through Saturday/Sunday.

This is the first time that I remember where a system so far up has turned in a more SW direction. Must keep an eye on this.

As for now, there are very few showers on the radar, mostly NE of us.

I was further delayed by our internet being cut off for about 2 hours - sorry.

More tomorrow.

Good morning Grenada.

Well, for once I was fairly accurate yesterday, showers and high overcast cloud!

Today there still seems to be some high cloud around, but a system to our Northwest is moving away and with it some of that cloud. There are still a few showers showing on the radar, but not as many as yesterday, but I guess they could pick up during the day. There is some drier air slowly pushing into our area from the East. Beyond that we have 92L which is making steady speed (about 10-15mph) in our general direction. It is currently about 1800 miles due East of us. Various models show a spread, from north of Grenada to missing the island chain altogether. The last position, I am pleased to say, has shown a clear movement north of it's original track, although many models had predicted this. The last position was 13.5N 35.1W.

The worry is that even if it passes well north of us then we could get some weather over the Carnival weekend. Lets hope not. The next few days will tell us more. There is another wave about to come off Africa, but the feeling at the moment is this will go a bit further North.

A last glimpse outside shows a couple of showers heading our way. And a few more (on radar) between us and Barbados.

Have a great day.

Hi all,

The clump of cloud I mentioned earlier yesterday is now being given a 20% chance of developing into a Tropical Cyclone in the next 48 hours. It is at 11.8 degrees North and SW of the Cape Verdes. The few predictions, so far, show mostly a westerly course, which of course is worrying. If it continues at it's current speed and direction it should not arrive in the Lesser Antilles for at least six days. I will monitoring the various sites to see what could happen to this one (currently known as Invest 92L).

The current weather is:
Sunny with quite a large amount of rain around. The radar shows lots of small, but possibly heavy, showers scattered around. There is some high cloud that seems to be moving up from the south and West, which could give some higher hazy cloud.

All the best.

A lovely day in Grenada, hot with a nice breeze. Plenty of sunshine (so far) for those with solar panels, or for the tourist topping up their suntan!

With Ernesto slipping west through the Caribbean and Florence following its expected route West north west, and looking as if it will miss the islands, there is nothing else expected to crop up for at least a couple of days. Provided nothing comes off Africa for the next two of days we should be OK for the rest of the Carnival period (I hope).

So let's just take it easy and enjoy!

I am looking forward the next 9 days. Maybe some more cloud tomorrow?

It was interesting to see the washoff after the heavy rain yesterday. It is clearly visible, in the two photos attached, the muddy fresh water run off 'floating' on the heavier salt water. It was easy to see it spreading across the water. The 2 photos were taken 30 minutes apart. It wasn't until it reached the choppier water before it started to mix.

Hi all,

Apart from a bit more cloud that average, and a stiff breeze, Ernest has gone. We had some needed rain, perhaps too much in a short time. We received about an inch in less than an hour. But today looks like an improving story. There are no showers showing on the radar to the east of us.

The tropical wave I mentioned yesterday has already become Tropical Depression SIX. But all indications are that it will go on a more northerly course, hopefully harmlessly curve up into the Atlantic.

So just to say, enjoy the weather for the weekend and lets continue to prepare for Carnival 2012.

Good afternoon.

Well, the centre is now well out to the west of St Lucia. We are now left with the grot that follows these systems. Plenty of high cloud. And probably more rain bands to pass through, one can be seen just about 4 miles miles off to the East. The sky is 99.9% overcast - yes I can see a small patch of blue, but that will probably disappear before I send this. We didn't get as much rain as I had expected, but we are not out of the clutches of Ernesto yet. Still hardly any breeze, but I expect that to increase shortly. I see from other reports that Trinidad did get, possibly still is getting, quite a bit of rain.

The new system just south of the Cape Verdes is put at 30% chance of becoming a cyclone in the next 48 hours.

Just had a slight Southerly breeze touch us, and the boats in the bay are all pointing South on their anchors.

- Ernesto Tropical Storm?
  • From: Chris Bolt <gommier at gmail.com>
  • Date: Fri, 03 Aug 2012 08:18:23 -0400
08:00 Friday

Looking at the very distinctive bands of rain on the Martinique radar, Ernesto passed straight through St Lucia about 5am this morning. Barbados seemed to get a hammering all night with thunder reported all through the night. It passed through there about 2am (going by the wind change from NW to S that occured at that time. Barbados (at 7am) was getting 43mph winds at 7am.

With Ernesto passing directly North of us, about 100 miles away, I don't expect us to get very strong winds, but we should get some wind picking up first from the South then stiffening as it goes round to the SE/E later. There is a band of, what looks like thundery, clouds just East of us, and my wife just reported hearing some thunder in the distance.

So after Ernesto, what next. There is another wave just South of the Cape Verdes, this already has a 30% chance of developing. This has the whole Atlantic to sort out what it wants to do!

Have a good day.

17:07 in Grenada, and the weather is beginning to change. Looking at the satellite images the front of the tropical wave is about to arrive. There is an outpouring of high cloud from the TD5 system, which has just been increased to Tropical Storm 'Ernesto'. With lots of convection associated with it. Tobago and Barbados are reporting towering cumulus clouds and are reporting mostly cloudy. The Martinique radar, which only stretches out to just past Barbados and Tobago is beginning to show the system coming into view. Lets hope it doesn't pick up much before going through the chain. All the best to St Lucia, as that seems to be where it will go through, at the moment.

Hi all,

The latest from NHC is that the depression is following a westerly course. All the latest predictions (at the moment) show it passing between just south of St Vincent and Martinique. If it sticks to this course then we should not get much in the way of high winds. The strogest will be after is passes and they will come from the SE. The satellite imagery shows what looks like numerous storms and heavy showers in the SW quadrant (the area SW of the centre), if this continues then we can expect some heavy rain and possibly storms before the storm passes. This could led to some strong squally winds around the showers.

All we can do now is wait and watch.

Good evening,

Sorry to delay this post, but 1) I was going around checking things were fastened down correctly and 2) I was waiting to see what 99L had in store. Well 99L has become Tropical Depression number 5. It will probably become Tropical Storm Ernesto before it hits the islands. But where, that is the question. On the latest charts I have seen the models all show it going near St Lucia and Martinique. Another shows it passing just North of Grenada about midday Friday, with some stiff SE winds picking up some what after it has passed.

Tomorrow we will get a better idea of course and strength.

The latest statement from NHC reads:-

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE
LOCATED ABOUT 1000 MILES EAST OF THE SOUTHERN WINDWARD ISLANDS
CONTINUE TO SHOW SIGNS OF ORGANIZATION. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
ARE CONDUCIVE FOR GRADUAL DEVELOPMENT OF THIS LOW...AND THIS SYSTEM
HAS A HIGH CHANCE...60 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE
DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS AS IT MOVES WESTWARD AT 15 TO 20 MPH.
INTERESTS IN THE WINDWARD ISLAND SHOULD MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF
THIS SYSTEM.

The possible tracks of 99L still show quite a spread. But two websites that I follow seem to imply that 99L may pass through fairly close to us. If this is the case then we will have some high winds. The predictions do not show hurricane force, yet. There are suggestions that 99L will possibly become Tropical depression 5 tomorrow or Friday. The feeling is that it will not become a hurricane in the next 5 days (I hope they are correct).

Just be prepared for some heavy weather Friday and Saturday.

Good morning Grenada,

And a lovely morning it is, with a pleasant breeze and the sun shining. Clear blue skies to the South (photo) and clouds just touching the tops of the mountains to the north.

The weather system 99L is still out there, in the mid Atlantic and slowly moving towards the Caribbean. The prediction is for it to slowly develop as it moves West. There is a good spread of model predictions showing it arriving in our area about Saturday. Grenada is currently at the southern end of most of the predictions with Guadeloupe being at the Northern end.

The next few days will give a better indication as to where 99L wants to go.

From Google Earth - all model tracks of 99L  as of Monday morning 10:00. I would like to see them all moving a bit further north.

For those that asked 'what is an Invest' the NHC definition is -
Invest:
A weather system for which a tropical cyclone forecast center (NHC, CPHC, or JTWC) is interested in collecting specialized data sets (e.g., microwave imagery) and/or running model guidance. Once a system has been designated as an invest, data collection and processing is initiated on a number of government and academic web sites, including the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) and the University of Wisconsin Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (UW-CIMSS). The designation of a system as an invest does not correspond to any particular likelihood of development of the system into a tropical cyclone; operational products such as the Tropical Weather Outlook or the JTWC/TCFA should be consulted for this purpose.

A very calm morning in the South of Grenada. Just a slight breeze. There looks like a tropical wave approaching the Northern lesser Antilles. I guess there could be some heavy rain up there later today/this evening. I think this could bring some showery weather to the Southern islands as well. The radar at 06:00 this morning does show many small, but possibly heavy showers between us and Barbados. It does look as if Carriacou has just had one of these showers.

It has been very quiet so far, but I think we should be prepared, I don't know how long it will stay this way!

Good evening fellow Islanders,

It’s that time of year again, doesn’t it come round quickly?
Nothing much to report today as we had a day without rain, great for any tourists although it was a bit windy at least at Grand Anse.  My husband has been complaining about the amount of times he has to weed eat the yard because the grass is growing so quickly....... plenty rain.

I’m still wondering what happened to the ‘dry’ season, it most definitely didn’t visit us in Grenada.

Hope everyone is prepared or getting there; let’s hope for a quiet 6 months but expect the worst.

Take care all.

The 'season' has not begun yet for Grenada, but we have a Parish up north with residents who have endured about two weeks without tap borne water as a result of landslides caused by all the rain we've got. The landslides have damaged water pipes as well as a resevoir. It just keeps on raining and raining and raining! We never really had a dry season this year. Last night was quite windy and quite a few tree branches are down. Nice for collecting breadfruit and mangoes though.
