Hi Everyone,
Firstly.... Happy Christmas to you all..
Well Now the hurricane season is a distant memory..we have our usual wet time
to contend with now and this year is a very wet one..
Beginning of december was the wettest on margarita for 10yrs..I was in scotland
at the time and it was the snowiest and coldest for 45yrs..we definately are
breaking weather records.
Well today a big blob sitting to the northwest of the island is soaking us
right down to the deepest roots but should rain itself out soon..should also be
gettin swell soon from a storm way up north in the Atlantic.our beaches are
goin to suffer..4 beaches are still closed from damage 3 weeks ago..
Ok guy's have a great christmas and stay safe..

Hi Everyone,
A little shocked to see Tomas on our doorstep again this Morning, but he was
just getting ready for his next trip..let's really hope that the strong
windsheer breaks him up..for Haiti's sake..
Well yesterday our island was battered by 2.5 to 4m waves for 12 hours..washed
70% of the beach away and wrecked a good part of my kiteclub..things are
returning to normal today..Massive clean operation all day today..
The photo is one of many of the monster waves that were hitting our beach..
Stay safe..

Hi Everyone,
Well,we were all ready and prepared for Tomas but in the end for the island of Margarita we are very well protected from mainland Venezuela so the storm has stayed north of us.Not so good for the other islands..i do believe Tomas will be brutal as he tracks west then north...the question now is will we get the rain that we were forecasted to get..also will the swell get bigger as the storm gets bigger...lot's of questions and no answers....yet...just a little more time and we will know.
Weather today on Margarita....broken cloud, sunny spells at the moment, strangley calm seen as the storm is just there so we have had today and a few rumbles and showers...almost all the weather in 1 day...will post if anything suddenley changes but most people are more relaxed here now knowing it is passing...
Stay safe from Tomas..everyone..

Good Morning All,
I have just looked up NOAA hurircane forecast and now they are giving this Low an 80 percent chance to develop into a tropical storm in the next 24 hours and pass directly over our island. The weather at the moment on margarita is slightly cloudy with sunny spells ,light wind from the ESE.looking in that general direction i can see a very wide, high band of cloud moving in this direction very slowly. We got the first band of rain last night and this morning from this system but if you take a look at the main area of disturbed weather on the infra red satelite image you can see there is ALOT of rain in there, and the thunderstorms that will come with it will be severe to say the least..will report back later with photos of the developing weather here...
stay safe everyone....

Good morning everyone,
Well a wet night but a beautiful clear sunny morning....will it last?that is the question..Last week we were all stunned to see the forecast from Windguru,Wetsand,Windfinder etc etc that Trindad and Tabago and Margarita including Aruba,Bonaire and Curacao were in for the biggest storm for almost 10 yrs...well it disappeared right infront of or eyes as quick as it was posted...just to give you an idea if didn't manage to see it they were forecasting 4.2m waves and 50knots of wind...being bigger as it passed margarita and onto Aruba.
Well now they are giving it a 20 percent chance of development in the next 48 hrs..please god that it dosen't materailise because if it does we will lose alot here in el yaque because we are only meters away from the waters edge.It would be a complete disaster indeed.
ok will keep you posted in the next 48 hrs to see how it has developed...
stay safe ..maybe this is the last one...

Good Morning everyone,
Well the weather has certainly slowed right down regarding tropical activity in
our area.but I can see from the satelite images the western caribean are still
experiencing one of the rainiest hurricane seasons on record..wow..
I have been living in the caribean for 11 yrs and I know that this is not the
last of the acvtivity until at least the middle of November or later..maybe no
more tropical waves as such but we still receive a lot of rain on margarita
right up until december time..so expect some heafty down pours over the next
weeks..
We are starting to see activity bubble up for next weekend ..I know it's along
way off so it will probably change but halloween is looking wet and windy at
the moment..but it won't dampen the intense party El yaque put's on yearly on
the beach at night for halloween..I will be Frankenstien this year..photos to
come..fingers crossed the rain stays away and leaves only the wind and party..
Weather today..sunny,partly cloudy,light wind(at the moment)..some rain around
but not even enough to show up on the satelite image..so probably not much to
worry about.I am off to swim now and then wait for wind..
Take care everyone..and don't let your guard down just yet..

Hi Everyone,
Well I reported this morning saying I was not sure what weather we could expect
today.after T and T reported freaky weather this morning. So my answer finally
arrived a little but powerful blob arrived right over us and is still here at
the moment..heavy rain and thunder and lightning going on all around us..with
wind from all directions.
This afternoon right infront of my eyes I saw my first twister form..it was
amazing to watch..it was over the sea and the water was sucked up about
50m..the photo isn't too clear but I only had my phone and it was about a
kilometer away..first water spout I've seen here..
Take care everyone..

Morning everyone,
Just read Trinidad and Tabago's weather they had the early hours of this
morning..I saw the HUGE band of rain moving South to north..but it never came
to us because it was fighting a very strong westerley wind we have had for days
now..we actually were out windsurfing and kitesurfing very unusual indeed to
have strong enough from this direction..
Don't really know what's in store for us today..stay safe..here's a photo of

Hi everyone,
The beautiful clear weather fell to a blob which came from the west...wait a
minute..is that right..
Yes last night I went to bed with a brisk easterly wind and within 10mins the
wind had swung 180 degrees and was gusty and stormy from the west...with lot's
of rain..
Today we are in the middle of a band of rain and cloud..I still don't
understand why it came so strong from the west..???!!!
Have a great day..stay safe..

Venezuela..It has been rumbling all morning and looks like it will come our
way..very slow moving but moving still..will update again later if things get
dark..waiting for wind but it's still from the N.E...

Morning everyone,
Well the scattered blob that has appeared over us let out it's rain the early
hours of this morning with some big rumbles of thunder indeed..with my boxer
dog diving into the shower for shelter..
I have just been on my roof for my usual panaramic view of the island and the
sky is still very black to the west but fairly clear to the east..if that's the
case it looks like the band of rain and storms is moving into the caribean
WNW..so watch out islands A,B and C..looks like you have some weather coming
your way if it's not there already..
Flat calm day today but. Supposedly were are getting our easterlies back again
tomorrow for a few days..let's hope we can get some kitesurfing in..I really
hope so I am getting withdrawl symptoms ..
Keep an eye on this big,big blob..
Stay safe...Murray

Hello everyone,
Well we finally received waves from Igor or was it Karl..I don't really know
but it took the whole island by surprise..we had only 0.6m waves forecasted
with 13 second periods but hey..it certainly did some damage to our beach and
jetties..we have been shovelling sand and debri away from our centers and clubs
all day and from what I can see from the forecast we have a few more days of
the same conditions..I don't our beach will last...I can't imagine what the
rest of the islands further north are experiencing and I can only pray for
Bermuda...take care you guy's...
I have posted some photos for you to see, just remember our beach el yaque is
normally flat and it faces south...and this was the view today..
Has this phantom system come of anything..talk to me Curacao!!!!
Stay safe everyone..going boogey boarding tomorrow..

Hi everyone,
We have some very strange weather forecasted for the next 7 days by
WindGuru..Strong bursts of wind from the south west and a lot of rain.
If Curacao reads this can you confirm with me that this phantom system you have
been talking about for 4 days now will it appear soon. Is it coming from the
East or the West?just so I can give you the heads up of any potentially bad
weather coming your way..or our way for that reason!!!!
By the way WindGuru's forecasting powers for rain and cloud cover are way
off..weather today on Margarita island..CLEAR and SUNNY with light S
wind...have a look at what they forecasted for us today..How can it be soooooo
wrong..- am losing faith..
Stay safe eveyone..

Hi Everyone,
Well as Curacao has mentioned twice in the past 2 days about a ghostly system
which may suddenly appear somewhere right over us in the next 3 to 5
days.Everyone is watching the monsters of Igor and Julia but I will of course
keep all of you islands west of us updated on any sudden development of a
system..
As was mentioned it dosen't even show up on the satelite images yet but that is
what weather is..very unpredictable..we haven't received any sort of swell this
year so far because most of the storms have had a very high trajectory this
year and menacing only Bermuda..
Today we have 1.0m waves with a period of 14 seconds..good surf on the north
shore..sunny and clear with 38 degrees..
Heads up..let's see if this ghoslty system comes to anything..will post again
in a couple of days.
Stay safe Murray

Hi everyone,
Well to be honest I have read all of the posts and I know living on the island
of Margarita dosen't pose too many problems with the Hurricanes as the rest of
you but.............!!!!!!!..as long as everyone keeps there gaurd up and
listens to the weather forecast which in most islands it's as easy as listening
to the news..NOT here...we are are all going to get through 2010 hurricane with
no real scars or bad memories..
Things haven't been as the forecast has said..THANK GOD...about 90% of the time
the blobs have disapeared or just not come of anything..I have a great feeling
that the season will end as I have said....with no scars...
Stay alert and be clever..
Waiting for serious flooding tonight on the island..let's hope again that the
forecast is wrong..
Respect to all of you reporters for warning the caribean of what's
happening...stay positive...

Hi everyone,
Well after a very long spell of nothing weather it has suddenly livened up here
on Margarita.
Yesterday the heavens opened and down came the rain with force.it wasn't
forecasted to be so heavy but it was.
Today the photo shows the edge of the big blob which tripled in size since last
night and we are exspecting another wash down in the next few hours..I was
stuck in my beach office for 3 hours yesterday so a few rum and cokes kept me
occupied.the rest of the island wasn't so fortunate..cars being washed off the
roads and getting stuck in huge deep pools of water all over the island...an
island which has no real drainage system..so imagine..the water has nowhere to
go..
Will update the weather later with pictures..
Take care everyone...

Hi Everyone,
Well I am sure that more than 40 percent of the caribean island chain are in
for a wake up call in the next 24 hours to say the least...after such a non
active season so far I do think we are in for a grand finalie...
The question still pops up again and again if a hurricane could pass over our
island..I personally think no but like we know you can never say never but I
think we are the luckiest island in the Caribean chain having Venezuela
mainland to save us every time..
My mum is coming to visit me fairly close soon as Fiona...she looks a lot
further south and if the trend continues maybe T.S fiona may be closer thsan we
think..look what happenes to Earl.
Stay alert everyone...Not much for us to tend with compared to the rest of you
further north.

Hello Everyone,
Another clear and dry day today.I was expecting to wake up to rain as Windguru
forcasted a significant accumulation of rain for Margarita..Don't where they
got that information because from the satelite image there are no rain clouds
to be seen..they actually forecasted 13mm of rain..completely wrong..I hope the
rest of the hurricane season can be like this..warn us,get it wrong and we bake
in beautiful sunshine..
By the looks of it next week will liven up here with wind, waves and rain on the

Margarita island dosen't have flood warnings etc etc..so as usual no-one will

Good Morning everyone,
Well the skies are bubbling up at the moment..and by the looks of it there is
more bubbling to come..As usual these systems suddenly move NW at the last
minute from Margarita Island because we are so close to mainland Venezuela and
all we get is our wind sucked away to Zero with some healthy down pours of
Rain..not the best weather for Kitesurfing but at least the gardens get a
drink..not that they need it..it's already been a wet season so far..and a lot
more to come..
