Hello

Make an update about what happened in St Barths. The port had some damages like the fishmarket, the ferrys and the immigration offices, the wood dock in front of the BNP bank is out of order. We had some boats sink. And the capitainerie was flooding a little. But everyone here is doing the best they can to clean the island. The westside of the island from colombier beach to shell beach suffured with the swell.
This is a good site to see pictures: www.corossol.info

Take care everyone and be safe

Hurricane OMAR is at the door. Right now it's raining with a few lightnings and thunders and we experience some moderate winds.
It is now category 3 hurricane. Let's hope everything will be ok on all the BVI, USVI and all the Northern Leewards Islands.

Hi everyone

As you know, St BARTS is in the path of OMAR. Since yesterday morning all the boat's owners are taking off their boats from the water. Some of them decide to stay in the harbor. All the people prepare their house and making the maximum to safe.
The french weather services say that we may have trouble in the Port of Gustavia with the SW and W swell from OMAR. The last seriously storm which cause trouble here was DEBBY in 2000. So, since eight years we will see if everybody have a good memory and do the right things for this hurricane.
At this time, it is raining and we expect the worst of the weather between midnight and midday tomorrow.
Let's hope it will be a small one and the first one for the Northern Leewards but the last one for this season

Take care during this event

Hi

Yesterday we had 31 mm of rain in ST BARTHS. It was raining from about 7 am to 5 pm with some short period of calm but no wind. At about 7h45 i left home to go to check my boat and the wind were blowing from the westside of the island with a small swell.

At this time, the weather seems to be calm.

Keep an eye and have a nice day

Hi

We've got good rain from wednesday night to yesterday afternoon in St Barths. This is welcoming rain for the cisterns and vegetation. In the northside of the island, we've got about 60 mm in about 3 days so it's not bad at all, and all the weather services say we can get more. So wait and see.

At this time, it's quiet, but on the sat picture it seems that the blob is moving north. For the moment we 're on the yellow alert.

let's keep an eye on it and enjoy a good day

Hi

First, i wish IKE will move away from land bacause it 's the same than LUIS in 1995 just a little more north and nobody need that. The people from Haiti, Santo Domingo and the BAHAMAS really don't need this one with all the rain they get from HANNA which causing to much dammage

If IKE stay the same and pass well too the north of the LEEWARDS we may have another swell event, and a wind shift from the west like the last friday.

Yesterday in the port we had a big shower came from the west with the wind from the south, it was a big mass but no dammage to report.

Let monitore the situation and keep fingers crossed

Hi

First thing, i hope friends in the path of Gustav and Hanna will not have so much trouble.

Here in St BARTHS, we've got some rain last few days but not the same as the rest of the islands around us. We had some west wind last thursday and friday make some trouble in the port with boats sink and went on the coast.

This morning we had two passing showers but nothing special to report.

It seems the East will be busy the next few days with all those waves moving off the African coasts.

Be prepared and wait and see what will happen

Hi

It's very hot and cloudy sky only minor rain. The sea is very calm no wind.
Is it the calm before the storm?
The french weather services from Guadeloupe put St BARTHS and St MARTIN in "yellow alert" since yesterday afternoon and from 11am today we are in "orange alert". That means everybody have to keep an eye on the weather forecast for the rain, the wind and the thunderstorms.
It look like 92L is slowly organise and come in slowly but surely visit us. Let's hope it's onl rain we got
Just wait and see what the plane which investigating it now will find.

Hello

It seems today that all the two waves will pass north of the islands. So if it 's happen we will have no rain.

Most of the computers model predict that the first one will pass just north of the Northern Leeward Islands close enought i ope for some good rain.

Yesterday it was very hot maybe more than the other days before

Stay tuned and wait and see

hello

I just wake upthis morning and check the weather for today and i was not surprised to see the forecast for the next week end. I read the report on crownweather.com since two or tree days and it seems that the GFS model predicting something between Martinique and the Northern Leeward Islands like a big tropical storm or a category one hurricane. But it is only a forecast. If it could stay a wave to bring plenty rain it should be great.

Today in St BARTHS it's nice but i don't know for how long. There is a shower coming in from the east of Flamands where i leave

Let's see what is going on and be prepared in case

Hi

Today in ST BARTHS no rain but very hot, the same than yesterday and the days before. I read that we may have more storms that was predicted before. It is bad news.

As i see a post from ANTIGUA, i take a look on the weather because if they take something, St BARTHS is on the same way. The GFS model is predicting some sort of disturbances for the second half of august, it 's something to monitor closely.

Keep it cool for the moment and eyes tuned to the EAST.

Hi

Invest 98L is now on the way and on the satellite pictures this morning, it 's very impressive only where it is.

Let's hope it will stay like this and bring us some rain only.

Today weather should be the same as yesterday with tonight a wave passing by us.

Keep an eye on this new one

Hi

It seems from the tropical weather discussion of CROWNWEATHER.COM this morning, we could have a new invest later in the week and especially us in the Northern Leeward Islands should keep an eye on it. We'll see what is going on.

So today in ST BARTHS, we have a very nice weather. You can go and take a look on meteotropicale.com and see a part of the Port of Gustavia. Yesterday was a greatful day and people enjoyed the festivities on the northside of the island (Flamands and Colombier).

If it could be only tropical waves passing by us this year it should be great because we only need rain.

Stay tuned to see what will happen this week.

Hi

Just arrive from the Bastille Day bottom fishing tournament, we were just 1 or 2 miles from St BARTHS to the west side with wind 20/25 knots and gusts to 30 knots. At the same time we had two big showers.

Concerning 94L, it is coming clear than we could be on its way but i just saw Windguru and there is nothing much from thursday to sunday like a hurricane or tropical storm, only a strong wave.

Keep an eye and stay tuned

so, we have to stay tuned and monitor the situation.

At this time, on my weather station it's 26.6°C outside.

I will take a look later on to see what happen.

Bertha is living the area but i saw this morning on WINDGURU some sort of bad weather for the next tuesday around the Northern Leeward Islands. Let's hope it 's only predictions.

Just keep on eye to the east.

- Big Bertha
  • From: frantz QUESTEL <fanzy_431 at hotmail.com>
  • Date: Sun, 6 Jul 2008 11:22:40 +0100
Hi

BERTHA is on the way to pass well north of the area and that's a good think. The only think we have to wait from her it's maybe some swell and it will depend how far she will pass from us and how big she will be at this time. All the main global models suggest the north off the islands and it's great.

Today in St Barts we expect a nice weather, maybe little rain could be welcome for the gardens and cisterns.

Have a nice day.

Hi

Most of the models are predicting a tropical disturbance to develop during this week between the African coast and the Lesser Antilles, we have to keep on eye to the East.
We had some rain during the past few days in St BARTHS but it is not enought. Let's hope if something coming in it is only a Wave

Stay turned

Hello

I hope everybody is fine . Here in ST BARTHS, it's very dry. We've got little rain last few days but not enough.
Hurricane season is back, let's hope it will be quiet for all the Caribbean

This afternoon, it's a little cloudy with light wind.
