Greetings all from The Unspoiled Queen.
All businesses at the Fort Bay Harbour are up and running no boats were damaged or lost before ,during or after the passing of Hurricane Omar.
Dive boats sought safe harbour on St Maarten which is a normal precaution, and some dive operators hoisted their dive boats out of the water here on Saba. As soon as the first dive boats returned to Saba operations went into full swing and diving has resumed. The main pier is recieving cargo and is also being used by the various Dive centers at the Fort Bay. Small pier not so lucky but should be operational within the near future
The island is fully up and running and a thank u must go out to Government and local citizens for a job well done, also the Electricity company G.E.B.E, and cable T.V which should be up to full signal within short.
Wx today winds E.N.E at 10 kts, vis + 10 miles, temp mid eighties and the seas are relativly calm with the exception of an N.N.E swell.
Take care all
Vince.

Hello all
The max winds in our area during the passing of Hurricane Omar were not 70 mph but a sustained wind of 61 mph.
This was recorded by my neighbor who lives about 120 feet away.
We are at an elevation of 820 ft.
Cable T V is damaged and we should be without for some time.
Best regards
Vince.

Hi

Here on Saba we survived Omar we did not expect category 3 but we survived.
Most of the damage is at the harbor where 2 of our dive shops was totally
destroyed and most all of our fishermen lost there fishing shed and equipment.

Our electricity was of but with the help of our GEBE guys it is back on
tonight. The public works department did a great job with the help of the local
people with cleaning up the streets.

Thank God no lives where lost.

Evette

Greetings all from the Unspoiled Queen.
Omar has been and Omar has split and has left his mark.
2 dive centers have sustained some major damage in the Harbor area and the fishermans pier is in a deplorable state.
Diving equipment could be found strewn along the Fort Bay major road and the dive centers have had their doors torn off.
Seas were rangeing anywhere for 10 to 15 feet and the clean up process has begun.
I have not recieved any official wind reports but I would go so far as to say we recieved wind gusts in excess of 70 mph
As for the roads that lead through the villages apart from a few boulders here and there and some fallen tree limbs all was clear.
Rain fall at my location stood at 5 inches.
Upon inspection of the airport and the surrounding parimeter fencing all is well and we are now open for business.
I will post some pics at a later date.
The whole island has been without electricity since 8:30 pm yesterday and the village of lower Hells Gate has just been reconnected.
The clean up crews have done a wonderful job and also the local community.
Best regards
Vince

Hey all
Greetings from the Unspoiled Queen.
Wx today partly cloudy with a few passing showers.
Had a downpour around 1:00 am this morning which brings the total rainfall at 3" for September so far.
Winds today ESE at 10 to 16 kts, vis + 10 miles, seas choppy and temps low 80's.
Saba has her old lush tropical look and should remain this way for some time IF those pesky H's leave us alone.
Water trucks seem to have gone into hibernation for now.
Highest point in the Dutch Kindom is coverered in local snow.
Hello to Pete, Sue, Ashley and Shawn.
Best regards
Vince

Greetings all.
Looks very active out there and more rolling off the coast.
Saba is settleing down to her usual colours and we are recieveing many wonderful showers.
Winair has been unable to execute any landings or departures due to the cross winds
Seas at the Harbour are picking up and mariners need to take that extra precaution.
The highest wind gust at the airport this morning was 42kts, Barometric pressure was down to 29.85
Welcome aboard Ashley and Shawn
Rainfall for the month of August stood at 6 1/4 inches at my location. Cisterns are topping up with the Caribbean liquid gold.
Remember in these isles of sun and fun we never flush for # 1 and if it's yellow let it mello if it's brown flush it down. Read that in one of the many watering holes on the island.

Best Regards
from the Unspoiled Queen

Greetings all,
It has been awhile since my last post but here goes.
Saba has recieved some much needed rain showers with the passing of the tropical wave. ( an inch at my location, 2 1/2" for the month).
Winds were light during the rain showers and this morning the winds have picked up but nothing strong from a southerly direction and u all know what that means yep u guessed it the smell of sulpher is in the air. The Islands west of us can look out for some heavy down pours and some flooding in the low lying areas such as P R, Haiti/Hispaniola, the U.S and British V.I and so on.

Best regards and keep your eyes East

Vince

Hi all
greetings from the Unspoiled Queen.
We are in need of some good soaking rains.
I don't foresee anything coming our way in the next few days or so but if anything does come it will be cherished.
Plants are withering and some trees are dropping their leaves.
Even the tree frogs have become silent.
Winds today are ESE at about 14 mph, seas are choppy, visibility is greater than 10 miles.
Pineapples are good and so are the mangos which are few.
Hello to Lin, Joe, Alex,Sue, Pete and all.
