An afternoon shower is passing through Providenciales
after 6 days of sun. Great napping weather...I think
I'll go take one.

- Bautiful By Nature Indeed!

The past several days have brought lots of sunshine
and calm breezes out of the northwest with hardly a
cloud in the sky. Temps have hovered in the mid 80's
F. A small bit of rain did pass through at the
beginning of the week. The island is quiet as it
usually is this time of year...those who have left are
missing out on some wonderful weather. The fishermen
are reporting record spiney lobster catches thus
far...very calm seas, too. Let's hope it lasts.
Shaggy comes to Provo on Saturday night...should be a
great show. Take care all.

A beautiful day here in TCI. Took a jump over to
South Caicos...truly an undiscovered gem. Azure blue
skies with occasional whispey white clouds. Nice and
warm with the Trades keeping it comfortable...a
wonderful evening with a breathtaking sunset and warm
breezes followed. Basically, a picture perfect
postcard day.

- Hazy days of summer
  • From: "Terry Richardson" <survey at tciway.tc>
  • Date: Sat, 12 Aug 2006 13:20:50 -0400
Higher humidity and visible haze over the last 24 hours... circulatory pattern forming east of us (visible on the IR animation) and currently moving towards us may indicate that something is forming which may develop further as it moves over the Bahama banks. It may also interact with Cuba later which could affect its further development.

- Tropical Wave Approaching
  • From: "Edgar Howell" <ehowell at gov.tc>
  • Date: Mon, 7 Aug 2006 15:45:01 -0400

A seemingly strong wave is crossing 70 W and approaching the Turks and Caicos as I write.  Grand Turk currently has overcast skies with winds out of the SE at 25 knots.  Barometric pressure is 30.01 inches or 1016 MB.  Temperature is 76 F.  Rainfall has been reported on Grand Turk.  The visible satellite suggests that the weather will go downhill for the rest of the country as the afternoon progresses.

There is indication of the possibility for flash flooding in low lying areas.

Will report after the action passes.

Hi Gert:

Wishing a happy 2006 Hurricane season to one and all from Providenciales, in the Turks & Caicos Islands.

Overlooking the North Coast of Providenciales (Provo), At 7:30 a.m. this Friday morning the 4th of August.... there is a slight breeze from the North rather than the East and a few scattered clouds in the sky. Looks like some isolated rain showers to the North East (out to sea).

We have had no rain in the last 48 hours.

    Report Ends.

Regards

Terry

- What's left of Chris
  • From: "Edgar Howell" <ehowell at gov.tc>
  • Date: Fri, 4 Aug 2006 09:00:49 -0400

What is left of the lower level circulation of TS Chris is now approaching the Turks and Caicos as predicted.

Residents awoke this morning to sunny skies and little hint of an approaching storm.  There are a few thunderheads in the vicinity and we expect a few light to moderate showers.  Reports from Grand Turk are that the situation is akin to a normal beach day.  The satellite visible indicates that this could change later today.

Currently the winds are out of the NNE at 10 knots.  The barometric pressure is 30.10 inches or 1016 MB and holding steady.  The 8 AM advisory is that the system has weakened.

Residents have heeded the instructions of the Department of Disaster Management & Emergencies and have taken the necessary steps to secure life and property.

I will keep you posted throughout the day.

- TCI Update
  • From: Brent Gustafson <goose007us at yahoo.com>
  • Date: Mon, 12 Jun 2006 20:48:54 -0700 (PDT)
Greetings from the beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands.

Mostly sunny with temps in the mid to upper 80's today
with warm 15 - 20 mph humid breezes from the S/SE.
Kite boarders were out in full force today off of
Grace Bay, Providenciales. The forecast calls for much
of the same for the rest of the week with a few
possible night time showers. A few late afternoon
rain columns could be seen offshore to the N/NE this
afternoon.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those located in
Florida and the Eastern U.S. seaboard as Alberto
approaches while we also keep a weary eye on a new
disturbance currently located well to the southeast.
