I have yet to hear the radio news but in my area we seem to be relatively untouched.   The winds were moderate and so only a couple of rotten branches off the trees came down but nothing else.  No bananas down so I don't think it was that bad,  Plenty of rain but at 4am when I woke up things were quiet.

Here's hoping Jamaica does not get hit too badly.   All the best.

Amazingly there are flights still operating in and out of St Vincent as of 11:00 pm, my hat of to those brave pilots who are able to fly in this weather, the wind is steady with some gusts to about 25 Mph, so I guess that's why it is not so much of a problem for the aircraft, I haven't heard any reports of landslides, maybe in the morning we will see, moreover the rain seems to be concentrated in the mountains.

Following a bright and breezy start to the day with wind gusts strong enough to knock off a plant pot from the balcony, the showers came around 10 am followed by a general closing in of the rain clouds.  By the time of returning from Kingstown at 1pm (offices being closed down), rain clouds were covering the high hills above Dorsetshire Hill and visibility to Bequia from the airport was practically zero.

We are now experiencing continuous rain with heavy squalls but the winds are not especially high at the moment.  Small branches of the trees are moving but the larger limbs are barely swaying.    No reports as yet of any difficulties for the general public however we no doubt will see problems with the roads and land slides.

More news later.

Looking out my office window, it very disheartening to see the fast moving clouds overhead, the Government has given civil servants half holiday, as the local met office has issued a warning for very heavy weather. as the attached image shows the worst of it is about to pass over us. I think I should do the same.

I will try to update as time goes by later on in the night,

Haniff
