- LENTEN SHOWERS OF BLESSING
  • From: "Michael Lascaris" <mike_7800 at hotmail.com>

Unusual for this time of year in these parts, rain's been pretty much a constant for the past three days.  Drove to the extreme south of the rock today and it was pretty heavy down there, creating minor fooding and swollen rivers along the way.

Still very gray outside right now with very low visibility and continuing strong intermittent showers.  Maybe not enough to full our reservoirs, but a welcomed change.

Going off to enjoy a cozy night's rest!!!!!!

I awoke (late I might add) to thunderstorms this morning with a few heavy showers till about 8am.  It hasn't rained much since but the sky remains pretty overcast even up till now.

TD 8 is predicted to turn north following its two predecessors, but until such time as we see it move from its westward track, we are holding our breaths.

Hey Folks,

Nice weather for the past 2 days here, lots of sunshine and blue skies..Last night we experienced a few very heavy showers from about 11pm.. Its a bit overcast this morning in some areas, sunny over the more northern side of the island.

Anyway, there's a strong tropical wave coming off the African Coast which has the potential to become a depression within the next 48 hours, let's keep our eyes on this one guys.

Have a great day

Mike

Today's tropical wave produced intense rainfall in the north of St. Lucia with 84.0mm of rainfall recorded. This induced tremendous flash flooding and landslides most notably in the city of Castries where several businesses and houses were flooded. There are no reports of injuries up until now but certainly everyone was caught off guard by the bad weather as they were just over a week ago with tropical depression number 5. The weather service in this lovely island continues to perform miserably, failing repeatedly to warn the locals of approaching bad weather in advance.

The creole name for rain.  Lots and lots of it this morning.  Accompanied by bright flashes of lightning and thunder, it brought flooding all througout Castries and rivers of water across highways in the north of the island.

The day started off with bright blue cloudless skies, as has been customary with the past week.  Around mid morning it got a bit cool, sky turned grey and heavy rain started at about midday.

At present the rain has died down, but the sky still remains quite dark.

Hello All..From Castries St. Lucia.....Quoting from one of Bob's famous songs, It's been like "96 degrees in the shade" from yesterday.  We've been having some uncomfortably hot days for the past little while and the nights get pretty cool, almost Christmasy cool, like 24 degrees Celcius.

The season has been pretty quiet for us thus far.  We're not out of the water yet, we know this, so our fingers remained tightly crossed and our trust in God till its over.

Thursday started off as a bright and sunny day with a lot of gusty winds but the heavy rains arrived around midday and lasted through to the evening albeit intermittently. So far there are no reports of damages although we did get gusts to near 50mph at times and quite a bit of rainfall. Despite the heavy conditions, business was allowed to carry on as usual by the authorities.

Hi to all,

So far we have a very nice season, although very dry which is hard on us
farmers. Better that than the other end of the stick eh. Although it looks
like what is coming of Africa right now is gonna bring some troubles... Lets
hope it brings only water. We got prepared as best as we can here, supplies,
shutering etc.. But then one is never truly prepared for the worst. Well
here is hoping for a mild season...

Hare Krishna, God Bless

WAKE UP, WAKE UP EVERYONE ... THERE'S A NEW CYCLONE AT OUR DOORSTEP!

Most people will be caught by surprise with this system and given tomorrow is a holiday in the Islands isn't better news either.

Last night and early this morning we had some really nasty thunderstorm activity because of the passage of the tropical wave. The wave near 9n 32w is very threatening and bad news for the Eastern Caribbean. Computer models indicate a possible strike in the Lesser Antilles in about 6 days as a strong tropical storm or slightly stronger so I will look at the future model runs in coming days for further developments.

2:30pm ... very heavy rain. Flash flooding may become a headache if this continues for much longer. Winds E - SE 15 - 20mph.

- some rain ... finally!

Hare Krishna to all,

We finally got some real rain this morning, it filled my tanks up to near
full!
On and off for this month we had a few sprinkles but nothing substantial...
Saint Lucia has been very dry, and water shortage is felt acutlely in many
parts of the island.

I hope we get some more rain again... Soon!
