- From the Rio Dulce |
|
The floodings and tremendous loss of life that you've probably heard about
on the news is occuring in the western most part of Guatemala, west and
northwest of Guatemala City. The Rio Dulce has only had a couple of extra
days of rain here, not even enough to really raise the river level here.

- All is well on the Rio Dulce |
|
I was just reminded that I had not posted here since July. All is well
here, and the only reason I haven't sent anything in is because we've had
typical rainy season weather with the occasional tropical wave coming
through. But the worst part of Hurricane season is upon us and we shall see
what we shall see...good luck to all in harm's way.

- Waiting on a Wave |
|
Friday morning here is overcast and warm, and last tights heavy rains have raised the river a bit and filled everybody's dinghies. The wave is expected to bring us some strong showers and squalls over the next 36 hours so everybody here is bailing their dinghies in preparation. I just pulled mine on land and removed the drain plug, much easier. Steve Pavlidis S/V IV Play Rio Dulce, Guatemala |
- Looking to the Yucatan |

All is well in Guatemala as we turn our attention to the folks in the Yucatan and Belize. Good luck folks. Steve Pavlidis S/V IV Play Rio Dulce, Guatemala |
- Saturday morning |
|
Hello all,Here on the Rio Dulce all is calm, light rain this morning that has stopped now though we still have a good cloud cover that's not associated with Emily. She's still forecast to head south of Cozumel and will probably only bring some showers to our area. Steve Pavlidis S/V IV Play Rio Dulce, Guatemala |
- Waiting on Emily |
|
Well, it looks like Hurricane Emily will pass well to the north of all
the folks here on the Rio Dulce in Guatemala. We might get a little wind
and some squalls, but that should be it unless Emily makes a drastic
southward turn. It's a fine Friday night here, thunder and lightning off to
the south, light breeze, all in all a farily comfortable night.
