The huricane caused widespread flooding and damage in the northwest side of Margarita, but Porlamar ( The capital) faired well.

Power and telephone are out in a large portion of the island but destruction is no where as Grenada. Ivan is now in central Venezuela but no other area took a major hit

I just spoke to my brother in Margarita. They are following closely the situation in Grenada and pray for the people in the Island.

Margarita has been under intense rain and wind gusts since about 3pm today.

They believe that they will begin experiencing the worse of the winds around 1030pm tonight as Ivan's eye and its Cat 4 winds will pass less than 100 miles north of the island.

I will be in touch with him later tonight, if possible and will update the website
