Pre-Nicholas looks very vigorous and threatening late this evening. He looks like one for us here in the islands to keep both eyes on over the next few days. This system will most likely be upgraded to TD #19 by 5am on Monday.

@2:30pm local time, we are feeling the fringe effects of major hurricane Isabel as far south as St. Lucia. Breezy WSW wind from 15 - 20mph and sea swells coming in from the north about 6 - 8ft but the weather is quite sunny now although we had some very heavy downpours during the late morning. I'm keeping a close eye one the next tropical wave right now located about 500miles SSE of the Cape Verde Islands.

Should the strong tropical wave in the far eastern Atlantic develop into tropical storm Juan then it would the 7th tropical cyclone to develop off the last 11 tropical waves to emerge off West Africa dating back to tropical storm Erika on August 14th. Including 5 off the last 6 .... Fabian, Grace, Henri, Isabel & then Juan. Reminds me alot of the 1995, 1996 and 1998 seasons.

My thoughts and prayers are still with the guys in Bermuda and I know that they will be okay. Bermudans have the distinction of coming together as one in bad times such as this. Looking eastwards, pre-Isabel looks very threatening and she is very far to the south. I think this is one that we will have to watch very closely over the next 3 - 5 days. And there is yet another vigorous looking tropical wave behind it also ......

I am very sorry to hear about the situation in Martinique today. The worst has passed so the weather should improve tonight. The bad news though is that the strong tropical wave located near 41w is forecast by computer models to become a tropical storm as it approaches the islands from the east this weekend ....

We had alot of rain in St. Lucia yesterday. 49.9mm of rain were recorded at
the Hewanorra Intl. Airport in the south along with wind gust to about
33mph. But more rain fell in the north of the island where i am located. It
rained continuously from about 1pm until 7pm in the north and outside is
totally soaked this morning. According to satellite imagery this morning,
the tropical wave which affected us yesterday seems to be developing a
surface low in the vicinity of 14n 63w and it is forecast to become a
tropical cyclone in a couple days. Turning our attention to the east, there
are two very potent looking tropical waves in the central and eastern
atlantic. One near 38w and the other near 20w and they both have potential
for development over then next few days with conditions being highly
favourable for tropical storm formation. It seems as if this year's
hurricane season is going to be what i like to consider "a classic hurricane
season" like the 1995,1996 and the 1998 hurricane seasons with most of the
cyclones forming off tropical waves coming off West Africa and not like last
year's season, 2002, of which most of the activity was of a sub-tropical
origin. (That's not a good sign for us here in the islands)

The weather is still fairly quiet here at 11:00pm. Just a little breezy at
times and no rain at present. I'm looking at the possibility of some very
gusty winds and heavy rain occuring withing the next few hours as the
satellite pics show that the western edge of the system is just off the
eastern coast of St. Lucia already and there are some very strong
thunderstorms embedded in the large cloudmass. The last time we had such a
healthy looking tropical wave at our doorstep was pre-Claudette on July 7th
and we ended up getting wind gust to 52mph in St. Lucia. So lets see how
this system (pre-Fabian) will behave this time.

6:00am conditions: winds NE at about 5 - 10mph, fair skies, fairly clam
seas. We should begin to feel the first efects of TD #6 by mid-morning but
we should remain in pretty good shape because it's a weak system .........
it's carnival Monday here in St. Lucia though so it would be interesting to
see how the locals will treat this one.

It seems as if we experienced the full force of the tropical wave in St.
Lucia today. Satellite imagery showed that a tremendous burst of convection
flared up right over us late this afternoon. At that same moment an official
wind gust to 52mph was recorded at the George F.L. Charles Airport in
Castries. But the winds might have gusted much higher in other parts of the
country since there have been numerous reports of roofs being blown off and
large branches and trees falling across some roads mainly in the nothern and
eastern parts of the island. There haven't been any reports of serious
flooding although the rain was torrential at times and it fell nonstop for
about 2 hours starting at about 4pm today. The winds gusted so violently at
times that the heavy rain was being driven horizontally. However, everything
is very calm and quiet this evening and the winds have abated almost
completely now and it isn't raining right now. Comparing this strong
tropical wave with Tropical Storm Lili on September 23rd of last year, it
dumped alot more rain on St. Lucia between 4pm and 6pm today than Lili
dumped during the entire 24 hour period during its passage. Lili was a very
dry tropical storm with less than an inch (25.4mm) of rain recorded in most
locations but its winds still gusted to over 60mph!

It's a very windy night here in St. Lucia with winds averaging 10 - 15 mph
from the NorthEast to East but gusting to about 25mph at times mainly in the
showers which have been rather frequent today. It seems that our weather is
being influence more and more by this approaching disturbance located just
SouthEast of Barbados. This strong tropical wave certainly looks like
pre-Claudette. She's tiny but powerful and we should not take her likely as
the system will bring some blustery & rainy weather to the Windwards on
Monday whether it develops or not. I hope that it will not be a serious
situation for us. Afterall ....... the season has just began! We also have a
huge monster emerging off the African Coast.

There is a rather strong tropical wave for the month of June located about
1400 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. The system is well organized and it
could become a tropical depression within the next 12 hours. The disturbance
is centered roughly near 9n 41w late this afternoon and it is moving towards
the west at about 15 - 20 mph. Should this system develop into a tropical
storm, it will be only the 1st tropical storm to form east of the Lesser
Antilles in the month of JUNE since Tropical Storm Ana in 1979 and only the
second tropical storm to form east of the Lesser Antilles in JUNE since 1886
when hurricane records date back to . . . . . a very rare event.
