After reading the post from Tortola and Vieques, I
feel very fortunate. It rained on more on St. Croix the last few days than
it has rained in the last 3-4 months combined. Those nice ground soaking
rains. The smell was wonderful, you only get that with a big
rain.
BTW, I saw Vernon's post from Vieques and I haven't
been here in a hurricane. My wife was in Savannah for Hugo, but there
are many places to run in the states. I drove a supply truck down to
Charleston after Hugo and could not believe the devastation. So I can't
even imagine what people go through in the islands. This is our third year
here and we hope (though we know better) we don't experience a
hurricane.
