Fortunately Jerry has turned out to have been a non-storm for us here on
mainland St Vincent. It's currently 8.00 a.m., grey and overcast with
scattered showers. We had about an inch of rain during the night but not
much wind - some gusts to 25 knots but that was about it. Sighs of relief
all round.

It's a beautiful day in St Vincent and the Grenadines today - perfect
sailing weather with 15 knot winds and flat seas. A little hard to believe
that Jerry is heading our way and will be affecting these islands tonight.
The usual preparations are in hand - securing vessels, checking mooring
lines etc. Current predictions place Jerry over the central Grenadines in
the early hours of the morning. Guess we can't win 'em all. Will up-date
later.

- Goodbye Chantal

Well, Chantal turned out to be a bit of a non-storm here in St Vincent.
Whilst satellite imagery suggested that we were right in the middle of
something fairly unpleasant, we had no appreciable wind, some not-too-heavy
showers - and that was about it. The Bequia Channel is a little choppy
this morning, but blue sky is visible and even a sun. Au revoir Chantal.

Well, I cannot imagine who is being complacent Antonio and certainly see no
signs of it here on the mainland. One yacht charter company has hauled all
their yachts out of the water. We have secured all of our vessels as best
we can. From what we can see, people are taking this seriously. Although
the 11.00 a.m. up-date puts Chantal marginally further north than her
previous position, it's still pretty clear that we will get some strong
winds and heavy rain. Nevertheless, the indications are that she is
unlikely to pass over as a hurricane but, rather as a tropical storm.

Overcast and cloudy at 11.15 a.m. and satellite photos indicate the leading
edge of convection now approaching Barbados

- ITS OUT THERE AND COMING!!
  • From: "Antonio & Bobzie Joyette" <zabs AT caribsurf.com>

WELL AS EXPECTED...SOME PERSONS ARE STILL COMPLACENT AND HOPING THE DEPRESSION WOULD GO NORTH. BUT THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

I BELIEVE MOST PERSONS ARE LOOKING CAREFULLY TO SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING AND TAKING HEED TO BE AWARE OF THE "COMING ACTION".

EARLY THIS MORNING IT WAS RAINING BUT NOW IF YOU LOOK AROUND  YOU CAN EXPERIENCE SOME WIND FLURRIES AND GUSTS, ESPECIALLY IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. BESIDES THAT IT PARTLY SUNNY AND BREEZY. I AM NOT EXPECTING ANYTHING YET UNTIL ABOUT MID TO LATE EVENING WHEN THE RAINS BEGIN TO COME WITH THE THUNDR AND WIND TO FOLLOW AN HOUR OR TWO LATER.

WE ARE WATCHING!!!

As of 0800 today, St Vincent is under a tropical storm warning and citizens
are being advised to make all necessary preparations, though we do not
expect to encounter anything too serious. The weather at 0815 is
overcast - grey skies, heavy cloud and a light drizzle. As a yacht charter
company, we will be advising our sailing guests to ensure that they are
securely anchored with additional ground tackle out. Will report again
later in the day.
