We finally got some rain yesterday and today, after about a week's dry spell. Temps are in the mid-80's to low 90's during the day, with nice winds. It is still nice sleeping weather--at least, the dog thinks so, as she lies upside down on the verandah with her feet up against the wall... |

We have been enjoying lovely weather with occasional showers, although the showers have lessened over the past week to ten days. Daytime highs have been around 90 degrees F, and nighttime temps have been in the 80's, nice sleeping weather. It looks like we have been spared of all hurricanse this season, unless a late one sneaks up on us, and there is no forecast of that. No storms either, which keeps the dog happy and sleeping comfortably. Ann |

Not much new on Dominica--we have been experiencing short bouts of rain, about 10 minues each, several times per day, but lots of sunshine. Currenty it is 85 degrees F, and the humidity is 69%. It appears we will make it through hurricane season with no hurricanes! Ann |

We had a heck of a storm last night! Lots of rain and wind, thunder and lightning. One lightning flash showed up and the thunder crash came right after, so we know it was a close event. A friend up the hill says a tree near him may have been hit. Needless to say, the dog was in the bed with us again! Currently it is 82 degrees F, overcast with sporadic rains. The skies seem to be trying to clear. |

We had some nice rain last night and on and off today, with a little thunder and lightning last night to spice things up. Yes, the dog wound up in bed with us, but only for a short while. September and October seem to be our hottest months, and we have been baking throughout the day, so evenings and nights are welcomed. Not much else new here on Dominica, weatherwise. Current temperature is 85 degrees F, humidity is 63%. |

We had rain all night, but no big storm--not even enough to make the dog hop into bed with us. Currently, we do have brisk winds, and that is nice--assuming you have all your plants well-anchored on the verandah! Current temp is 82 degrees F, humidity is at 75%, the sun is shining on and off amidst the cloud cover. Pretty soon that cloud cover will burn off and we will have our usual summertime weather--hot and muggy! Time, then, for a cool dip in the sea! Ann |

Chantel is coming, but by now you probably know that she has been moving so fast that she has not been able to gather the pressure she needs to become a hurricane. Presently the sea is very calm, the air temperature is 86 degrees F, with 63% humidity. If we do get some thunder tonight, the dog will wind up in bed with us--again--(this seems to be the only fallout we have had from any of the weather since the beginning of hurricane season, and we really don't mind the occasional sharing of the bed). Mr friend, B.S., in Virginia, is watching, and I want to remind her that if we ever get it bad, we send it on up to the East Coast! All is well on Dominica except that the mosquitoes absolutely love all the rain we have had this rainy season. Ann |

We had a lot of rain overnight, but awoke to a sunny day. The sea is very still here this morning. 83 degree F, 78% humidity. My guess is that Chantell will cause us no problems here, but we will keep our eye on it. |

This is my first report here--I hope plenty of Dominicans and those who love them will visit this site for weather news! We have just finished two days and nights of heavy rain, complete with lightning and thunder, which we rarely have here. Early this morning, the dog ran into our bedroom and hopped into bed with us--she was scared! As the dawn broke, however, the storm stopped and the sun shone, and all we've have had today are our usual rainy season light showers. On a positive note, the storm surely cut down on the dust that our capital city of Roseau has suffered under due to installation of new sewer and water lines. Currently, the sea is fairly calm and the temperature is 86 degrees (F) and the humidity is 55%. Gentle winds are blowing as we prepare to eat our dinner. Ann |
