- Looking good for us

Good Morning,

This morning St. John awoke to thunderstorms and lightning and heavy
rain but its all clearing up now and I am preparing for our church food
sale. Things are looking better for us here in the Virgin Islands but not
so good for our friends in the southern Caribbean. We are trusting that the
impact, wherever Joyce visits, would not be severe and the recovery is
immediate. We are still hoping that it would fizzle out before entering the
Caribbean chain of islands. Once is crosses over into the Caribbean Sea, it
can really get going and be a real menace for other islands down the road so
we are hoping that all works well. Someone mentioned that there is a strong
wave coming of the coast of Africa. Could someone elaborate on this for I
haven't heard anything about it. Stay safe all and remember with God in the
vessel we can smile at any storm. God Bless.

It is now 700pm on Tuesday night and we have electricity and phones. There
was a nice flow of breeze coming through the boarded up rooms and now we are
enjoying the rain. Yes, it is finally raining (not drizzling) on St. John
from Hurricane Debby. It has been raining steadily for at least 15 minutes
so far. The Governor lifted the curfew for the USVI as of 600pm this
evening and all Government employees are required to report to work tomorrow
as usual. The airport in St. Croix has been open for hours now and the
airport on St. Thomas will open tomorrow at 500am. Although there is a
heavy rain, I can see and hear lots of vehicles moving around now since the
curfew was lifted and there is absolutely no debris in the streets. We have
been spared and we are thankful that all is well. Will keep you
posted.............raining on St. John.

- St. John back on track

We have electricity again. Nothing is going on other than some occasional
gusts of wind so I fell asleep for about two hours. I received an email in
reference to Westin and Gallows Point and Cruz Bay area. All of those
points are fine because the entire island is fine. I would venture to say
that we have not seen more than 35mph winds on this island. Sometimes it
has been constant if you are on the hills but it is all tropical "wave"
conditions here on the island and everything is intact. I am waiting for
the much anticipated rain to begin so that we can dry out and go to work in
the morning. Finally, there will be no need for debris clean up, etc. cause
there should not even be cosmetic damage to the Virgin Islands. My children
are finally awake and the "teen" is living on the phone while the other
"teen" is watching TV so everything is normal. Will keep you guys
posted...oh, I have not gotten a response from Anegada as yet but as soon as
I do, you will get it.

Checking in from St. John. We are now without electricity but we still have
the phone lines. The winds have picked up on St. John and they are
relatively constant. There is stuff on my porch that is moving around but
it is definitely not hurricane force winds. The radio announcer also
confirms that the winds are reportly picking up on St. John as well so we
are in agreement. I'll sign out now since I am on battery back up. Until

Good Morning, its around 930am on Tuesday and I believe we in the US Virgin
Islands will be spared the brunt of the hurricane. Around 200am, based on
the info Antigua posted, I could tell that it had wabbled to the North just
enough to spare us in the USVI. Tortola should be OK as well but then
there's the island of Anegada that should be receiving the full force of the
hurricane to the North. I am going to email a friend over there and post
her response here so that you will know whats happening. On St. John we are
receiving very light drizzle and gusting winds. We have been under curfew
since midnight last night and have lost electricity only for seconds last
night and about an hour ago this morning. All is well and we are basically
waiting for the hurricane to pass so that we can get back to normal here.
Stay tuned for Anegada's report shortly.

good morning all. Still pretty quiet here. I guess we have a few hours to
go.

a request to all you folks reading these reports. we love hearing from you
but, during a weather emergency we often lose power and run in batteries,
which leave us little time to log on and get the info and send posts.
please wait til the storm passes to send your comments and questions. As I
said I love to hear from y'all but wait til the storm passes. or emergency
messages only.
thanks

I am beginning to think that a plane needs to go in very soon to give us an
accurate up to date account on this storm. I believe it is now a hurricane
although the WC is still showing 70mph winds. The BM has dropped to 991
which represents strengthening. I am wondering if this is not going to hit
the USVI at around 100mph. Is anyone else getting the same impression?

Hello from St. John. Everything is quiet. There is some lightning that
seems to be coming from the South and sporadic drizzle. Everything is very
quiet...not even hearing any hammers. Just heard the Weather Channel that
Debbie will be in the US Virgin Islands around 900am tomorrow morning. Will
keep you posted. Love from St. John
