Bermuda Update

Bermuda Igor Update 1pm local 15/9/10

Well Wednesday noonday Igor is still hell bent on what looks like a very close call or direct hit on Bermuda.. I understand there are some variables here so the exact distance and east or west is still up in the air literally. But the latest GFS is still almost on top late on Sunday.

There have been no official warnings posted as of yet by our Weather Service but are expected to be set early tomorrow. There has been a frenzy of activity this morning as I have witnessed at two of our leading hardware and home centers. Its not a panic just the early folks who are taking no chances with the size of Igor and his potential devastating wind etc. I did see a few generators on flat beds being moved out the door.  I hope the general public do not wait to the last minute just because we have had three no shows recently as this one is really serious and even passing at a distance will still mean we could have hurricane force wind. Some Bermudians have a tendency to be laid back and wait till the last minute for things like this. This maybe attributed to the fact that the major supply stores have a strict policy of no returns on hurricane related items. Thus preventing folks taking everything back if the storm does not come.
Again because of Igor's size well before the closest point we will be getting rain etc to prevent any outdoor work.

Otherwise then Igor, today its warm and sunny with a light breeze, the South Shore beaches are still calm and swimmers are enjoying the lovely day.

That's it for now from Bermuda where its still waiting and watching the weather to our south east.

Good Day.
Keith
