I didn't even hear about it until about an hour ago, and took a look at the satellite images and saw it was there. It's a bit breezy outside, it's been raining off an on all day. There are about 3 ft breakers rolling onshore on the west side of the island, where it is usually flat calm, and I can see whitecaps out to the horizon. Everyone who moors on the west side of the island has taken their boats around to the south and north sides of the island behind the barrier reefs. That's about it for now. At the Cayman Turtle Farm we have experienced heavy rain with wind gusts at approximately 30 mph. We are preparing our location for high winds. It appears that the storm will steer clear of the Cayman Islands, but never the less we are keeping a close eye Irene. Check out our weathercam which takes a live picture of the weather in Cayman every 5 minutes at http://www.turtle.ky Cayman Turtle Farm |
