- Has the wet season begun ?

Yesterday at the San Juan Airport we had close to two inches of rain, a new record for May 30th. The heavy rain continues today, May 31st. We have had significant rainfalls for the past several weeks. Has the wet season begun early ?

- Tropical System

There has been some type of tropical system over Puerto Rico this past week that has kept us mostly cloudy. We have received some rain too with this system. Yesterday and last night, we received heavy rain and a thunderstorm!  Our power went out for a short while at 3:30 AM (the storm woke me up!). Today  we had some rain and it is very humid. We haven't had too much sun lately and I'm looking forward to a sunny day!

- A strange Sunday

This has been a strange Sunday, weather-wise here in the San Juan area.

I awoke this morning to thunder, lightning and rain. Now at 1:30 PM AST the thunder, lightning and light rain have appeared once again.

Of course, no one is complaining about the rain! But two thunderstorms in one day is kind of unusual.

I woke up last night every few hours last night and looked out the window. No rain yet. No rain yet. Hardly any rain...

We were SO excited that Erika would provide us with much-needed water after Danny disappointed us. Never do I recall people looking forward to a tropical storm. But Erika let us down. Everyone seemed to be asking, “What happened? How could that be?” The official forecasts told us we would either be directly hit or at least get loads of rain.

We did get some rain that filled the reservoirs a little, but rationing remains at the same critical level--many people are getting water only twice a week.

But there is a new tropical wave coming…

Wish us luck!

Emily

- Tropical Storm Erika from Humacao, Puerto Rico

Erika is still hanging around, but most of the storm seems to have passed south of the island.  The power went out a few times briefly last night, but it's still holding now.  I didn't hear any thunder or lightning overnight, but it looks like we had a fair bit of rain. It's still blowing a bit and the surf is quite rough at the beach.  I haven't ventured out beyond my patio yet.   I posted a quick video of current conditions. https://youtu.be/d99m4o-dAbA

- San Juan Report

Good morning,

Here in San Juan we did not receive harsh winds and rain from Erika. I woke up at 4:00 AM and saw light to moderate winds and light to moderate rain. I am just reading this morning that parts of Puerto Rico are without power and received heavy rainfall.

Here in San Juan, we are hoping for a little more rain as Erika moves on.

- Minimal rain with Danny

Morning everyone!

We did get some rain last night from the remnants of Danny, but not as much as expected. I believe we received less than one inch of rain. Currently at 900 AM AST we have cloudy skies with a 60 percent chance of rain today.
I talked with people yesterday in San Juan and there was anticipation of a good amount of rain with Danny but it was not to be. We all were hoping for a good downpour!

Right now, it looks like we have a greater chance for rain with Ericka, as many of you do. I'm sure we will all be keeping an eye on this storm!

Hi folks,
Long time since my last post, but since we are seeing T.S. Danny approaching, why not post something to start with while it arrives. Now if you are wondering what are those two words I will keep it simple, they are "Hot & Humid". Yep that is how our weather is here close to the east coast and also for the rest of the island as well. Just waiting for a good rain event to come & cool us down, hopefully Danny will know how without harming the island. Till soon...meanwhile I'll keep cool and in the shade looking out for our weather forecast.
~Margie~:-)

As others have posted, the rain has begun in Puerto Rico! It is a light rain so far, and we are hoping it continues for some time!

We have had water rationing  for about 2 weeks so far. May the rain continue!

- Water restrictions

The Water Department in San Juan has imposed water restrictions in the area due to the drought. Some areas will receive water every other day only.

I can't remember the last time we had a good rainfall. It has been a few months, for sure. We could use a few days of rain!
