Hello all!

Well, the rains are falling at a dangerous rate, and we are supposed to get rain for 3 more days! The ghuts have taken several cars (no injuries that I know of so far) and many roads are near impassible.  I've not seen this much rain fall at once in a long time!

Everything is getting damp and moldy!

Hey all..

Well yesterday it rained, and it rained, and it rained.. mostly after 8pm, ghuts were flooded, roads were flooded and our water is brown in many parts of the island...  We needed the rain, but not like that!

Thunder and lightening also lit up the nite sky

The sun is out and shining bright.  The weather is beautiful.  We got a much needed shower this morning, but then the sun was back.  We could use a bit of rain, but I'm glad the storms have stayed away.  So far, so good..looks quiet out there for a moment.. let's hope it stays that way! We still have a month or so!

GOOD MORNING...JEANNE HAS PASSED US BRING MUCH NEEDED RAIN...WINDS WERE NOT TO BAD ON THE ATLANTIC SIDE, GUSTS WERE PROBABLY HIGHER ON THE CARIBBEAN SIDE, FROM THE DIRECTION THAT JEANNE TOOK.  THE BREEZE WAS BEAUTIFUL, EVEN COOL AT TIMES, GREAT SLEEPING WEATHER.  SKIES ARE TURNING BLUE EVEN AS WE SPEAK, THE ISLAND WILL BE EMERALD GREEN BY THIS AFTERNOON....BEAUTIFUL SIGHT  TO SEE.  ALTHOUGH, OUR CRUISE SHIP WAS  CANCELLED   FROM JEANNE.  OUR THOUGHTS ARE WITH THOSE WHO WILL BE EXPERIENCING IVAN.  PARENTS...YOU VET SCHOOL CHILDREN ARE FINE.

Lots of rain...some moderate wind...just what you can expect with a tropical storm.  They have sent news that local flooding is expected, and so it is best to sit tight tonite while Jeanne passes over us.

Well,
I just came from the grocery store and found a mess! People are out buying water, canned goods etc.  People are starting to put up hurricane shutters, but overall the feeling is this will pass south of us.

Electricity has been off and on all day w/o a hurricane, this island does not need a hurricane to help out!

It's a beautiful morning in St. Kitts!  I can't see any clouds in the sky and the temperature isn't too hot yet!  Hopefully we will steer clear of IVAN.  Thoughts are with those in Florida.

Beautiful weather today in St. Kitts....very warm, but it is that time of the year.  Our thoughts and prayers go out for the Bahamas...been through a Cat 4...it isn't any fun.  There is something leaving Africa, that looks a tad concerning.
Parents of vet students...everyone is fine...

- Hurricane FRANCES
  • From: "cooper kauffman" <coopersk AT hotmail.com>
  • Date: Mon, 30 Aug 2004 17:12:40 +0000
Hi this is my first post.

This morning the sea (on the South side of St.Kitts) is Beaufort force 1 -
2. Basically flat calm to calm with slight ripples. The sun is out in full
force.
Ideal for boating if it were not for Frances.

There are darker clouds to the North which appear to be the first real
effects that we shall experience from Frances.

There is a Storm Watch in effect for St.Kitts & Nevis.

Few people ahave started closing shutters etc. On the North Frigate Bay
coast, this morning I noted one condo owner oiling his aluminium shutters.

I believe that we shall get some rain and wind.
The wind (at present) is unlikely to exceed 45mph. I do not need to batten
down for that strength.

Given Frances' position, the wind direction should begin to shift to the
North. Then when Frances is directly North of St.Kitts the wind should be
coming in from the West. The wind will then gradually swing through the
South then back to the East.

I do have some considerable concern for this hurricane season as this is
only August (albeit at the end) and we have generally experience hurricanes
from mid-September right though to November (OK few in November).
However, September and October are "busy' times and we have a long way to
go.

Lets keep our fingers crossed.

GOOD MORNING....THE HURRICANE SITUATION AS IT APPROACHES THE ISLAND, SHOULD BE OF CONCERN.  THE TRACKINGS ARE SHOWING THAT IT WILL GO ABOUT 200 MILES NORTH OF ST. KITTS....BUT, YA NEVER MESS WITH MOTHER NATURE....FOR EVERY POINT IT TRACKS NORTH, IT WILL TRACK AT LEAST 2 POINTS WEST....IF IT KEEPS THAT TRACK TO THE WEST NORTH WEST...WE SHOULD BE OKAY...

The depression/wave in the atlantic looks like it could be a nasty one.  Wonder how long till it's Danielle?  We've had a lucky season so far.  It's raining gently now, outside, as it has done off and on for weeks.  Perfect for keeping the island green and lush.  Definetly greener and cooler this year then last.

We vet students are almost done with finals...and some will be traveling, so let's hope the weather stays safe

- Thunder and Lightening
  • From: "Kristen Vance" <umcpfreck AT mindspring.com>

The skies were open and punishing here on St. Kitts last nite.  From about 8pm till well into the morning the thunder and lightening was greater then I've seen on this island, and several locals said it had been a long time since they'd seen a storm like it.  Rain totals were in some areas over 2 inches.

The funny thing, we didn't lose power (for those familiar with St. Kitts, we lose power when it's sunny for no reason!)....and everyone stayed safe...though it was the End of Semester Party for Ross.

It's a hot one today on St. Kitts.  Few Showers but nothing to speak of..
