The weather is weird. Typically in Kralendijk the winds are offshore and flat. Today the kids were rolling in the waves brought in by a strong onshore swell. The freestylers were having a blast in a lovely AM windsurf session. This kind of weather is very unusual..

Now the winds are lighter and it’s definitely humid. Strange weather..

I woke at 1 AM to heavy duty thunder and lightning. Heavy rain spread in and a wind reversal. My dogs went berserk so I brought them inside. The winds were perhaps gusting 20-40. Wicker baskets, laundry and what not were blowing all over the yard. It was very intense for over 40 min. Now at 10:11 AM EST the winds have reversed. The chop is high down near salt pier. The dive boats are rocking and rolling and divers are coming in from what must have been some interesting dive conditions..It’s a very odd weather pattern here in Bonaire.

Just as I planned to wash the patio and launder the doggies beds, the rains came..I quickly ran to uncover my rain barrel and moved all the plants outside in the rain..The sky is grey and the winds are light. There is a large blob heading our way. Rain rain you are MOST welcome here in the B of the BES Islands, Bonaire, Statia and Saba.

 

Oh and we are supposedly going to the USD NOT the Euro..happy days..

Winds have returned to Bonaire, light but indeed some wind. We had a brief rainfall to top off the rain barrels. The sea is very warm. Tonight there is a huge DJ competition. If the wind is right I can hear it 5 miles away, at my house.

Around 10:30 the rains came with thunder and lightning. The wind had reversed confusing my dogs whose beds were “all wet up”. It was a tropical blow with heavy wind and squalls. What an exciting night.

The heat lightning is amazing..Mother Nature is putting on quite the show. My massage therapist is having horrid allergies as I am. I suspect the Sahara Dust is the culprit. Further convincing me was the incredibly red sunset.

The ticks are bad in Bonaire. My friend, a property manager, spied many ticks in one of his houses where there are NO pets. Hopi strano.

 

Tomorrow I head to the sea for a swim and my Stand Up Paddle. Wind, where are you?

We have a wind reversal. Kralendijk harbour has cross chop making it hard to wakeboard according to my friends. The winds are coming from the opposite direction and it’s HOT HOT HOT. Not much to do but wash floors and drink cold water. I am dreaming of Calamari Salad at Wil’s Tropical Grill tonight and a cold Pina Colada.

At 12 I took my Stand Up Paddle Board out and paddled around Lac Bay leaving it at Kontiki so friends may use it. I walked back to the windsurf area and notice dark clouds. By 12:45 the winds were howling about 30 knots. I grabbed the smallest sail I could find, a 4.2 meter (WAY too big) and my 87 liter Angulo board and headed out. It was sick. I could not hold on at all. I made about 10 runs and gave up. The winds backed off but I suspect more is coming.

We had torrential rains all night. My water tank is full to the brim and the garden had a nice drink of water. Now, there is not a breath of wind..no breeze, nada. I will head to the bay to paddle surf. Cannot think of a better way to stay cool.

I woke to thunder and lightning bringing much needed rain. The air is completely still. KLM took off at 4:20 AM in the opposite direction due to no wind.

 

My dogs are infested with ticks and Frontline is not helping. Off to the vet to check out what he has for shampoo.

Am enjoying Day 3 in lovely Anguilla. Bright sunshine and glorious beaches..the nicest since Barbuda and Grenadines HONESTLY…Had a lovely stay in Grand Case as well at Le Petit Hotel. Lovely hotel, horrid exchanged for USD users shopping and eating..1=1 can be found if you take the time..back to the weather in Anguilla..I LOVE IT here..no rain, not much wind..not too hot..

No wind..hot hot..no rain…the landscape is parched.

 

Sherilyn in St. Kitts, take a sea bathe my friend..I have had several every day and a few snorkel sessions. Even my non swimmer dog came into the sea. My family and I head to Grande Case today and Anguilla late tomorrow. Glad all is safe so far.

 

The blog remainds moving on and on closer to PR.  I fail to understand why this storm was not deemed a tropical storm with a proper name. PR is expecting flash floods according to Jim Cantore on the Weather Channel last evening. I hope all is well.

 

Meanwhile we need rain desperately in Bonaire.
